some big things happening

The Koch brothers, the most powerful conservative mega donors in the United States, will not use their $400 million political arsenal to try to block Republican front-runner Donald Trump's path to the presidential nomination, a spokesman told Reuters on Wednesday.

The decision by the billionaire industrialists is another setback to Republican establishment efforts to derail the New York real estate mogul's bid for the White House, and follows speculation the Kochs would soon launch a "Trump Intervention."

"We have no plans to get involved in the primary," said James Davis, spokesman for Freedom Partners, the Koch brothers’ political umbrella group. He would not elaborate on what the brothers' strategy would be for the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama.

Three sources close to the Kochs said the brothers made the decision because they were concerned that spending millions of dollars attacking Trump would be money wasted, since they had not yet seen any attack on Trump stick.

I have a lot of admiration for the Koch brothers. I would have lost a lot of respect for them, and I would have been shocked, if they had used their wealth to circumvent the will of the American people.

LOL I have a bridge for sale if someone wants it. Three sources close huh? How come sources are reporting they gave millions last week and we're having secret meetings with RNC leaders.

Because if word is out that they are against Trump he will draw even more people to him. Who's name is thrown around with the RNC establishment more than theirs?

At this point I don't trust one thing that comes out without them saying it themselves and or at least something more than sources...... we see how well those sources have lied .

What are you talking about? The three sources you dedicated your whole post to only address the "why" which is always open to speculation.

The fact of the matter though is the Koch brothers are not donating any money to the RNC during this primary season as stated by their spokesman.

we'll see.

Note that just a few posts ago Rupert Murdoch said that Republicans would be "mad" not to rally around Donald Trump should the businessman become the GOP presidential nominee.

Murdoch, who suggested earlier this week that Republicans should "close ranks to fight real enemy," shared a tweet Wednesday saying Trump is "reaching out to make peace" with members of the party.

It is very possible that some of the establishment heavy hitters are seeing the writing on the wall.

I would be surprised if Trump wasn't working them privately to point out the danger of attacking him like a rabid dog.

It is obvious now that Rubio isn't going to make it without some underhanded gaming.

I am being optimistic that we are seeing signs of a wind shift.

adding: twitter exchange between Hannity and Rubio staffer Marc Caputo:

Caputo: Rubio World has a new enemy: Sean Hannity. Staffer: "what a fucking asshole. He lets Trump trash everyone for months....But Marco gives Donald a taste of his own medicine and Hannity gets all offended. He's a pussy and a sellout." Boy, they're angry

Hannity: Hey Marc,@marcorubio is now pawn for establishment. Sad to me. That's not man I knew
Glad Politico let's u use such big words that accurately describes yourself asshole. And u r "impartial" to politics

Typical lib media, u missed my point. I always liked the REAL @marcorubio NOT THE GUY I SAW LAST NIGHT!

Caputo: Touchy boy! I was quoting some1, not picking a fight. But your work as a waterboy has earned you your shill-status

One of the most insightful comments in this thread was made by BamaJeepster when he pointed out that the GOPe never tried to stop Obama with anything like the coordination and determination they have directed toward stopping Donald Trump. And if they had done so, there would be no Donald Trump as frontrunner right now. But look at this quotation from a post above. The "Bill" is William Kristol:

"JOHN HEILEMANN: Just to go a little further on this topic of what Bill’s advocating: As you talk more and more to Republicans, who will say to you privately and sometimes publicly, that they would rather vote for Hillary Clinton than for Donald Trump...."

Why?

Why would this be so?

The answer is not complicated. They don't worry about any Democrat, not even Hillary. They can work with all of them in their game of "one hand washes the other" corruption.

But Trump scares them. He is not part of this circle of Washington "elites" who are destroying the country for their personal gain.

This fact alone-- that both parties are attacking him relentlessly-- should tell you all you need to know to support Trump.

I am not a huge fan of Trump. But I am in Mexico on business and the only channel at the hotel in English is CNN. I have been sick as hell so I've been stuck in the room watching CNN all day. They may as well call it the We Hate Trump channel. Its 100% round the clock Trump bashing. I've never seen anything like it, not even MSNBC. Every show, all day is just pundits and talking heads about how Trump sucks, interviews with GOP folks about how they will not back Trump, former NJ Governor saying she would vote for Hillary first, Lindsey Graham saying he wont back Trump if he wins, on and on and on. How can Cruz and Rubio come back and win? Blah blah blah.

I have never seen such a united hatred and movement against a candidate. As was said, they didn't even unite like this against Obama. They are all scared shitless of this guy. Of course, not a one is willing to look at why we have the Trump problem in the first place. But if he picks Christie as a VP, he will lose.

Or just maybe they would prefer to be the conservative opposition to a Democrat than have a moderate-to-liberal president with a R next to his name.

Yep! Then I just had to stop watching Fox Business for good as I am tired of them bringing on Democraps and republicans talking up Hildabeast downplaying her scandals and trashing Trump. Fox is going the way of the dinosaurs. Soon they will be a hollow shell of their former self.

Sad.
