Well I would hazard a guess Trump found out who would be asking some of the questions.

For the record, I don't buy any of the polling going on, one way or the other. However, my bet is that Trump's crew do. Hence my previous comment.

Debate schmate, so what, Reagan skipped the debate coming into Iowa, no need to go, you're ahead and it just serves to provide entertainment fodder for your rivals, there is nothing to gain, in fact he's probably won the debate defacto by declaring HIS decision to not go regardless of Megan, Fox whomever.

Doesn't matter the rest of media has a reporting frenzy about the Donald, and the Donald eats it up, betting he gains points, and in the process has said that there's no reason or contest left that he feels he needs to prove himself.

As to Cruz in a debate, pfffftttt seriously other than having a cash flow problem no top level fighter steps into the ring without a guarantee payout, none, zero nada, no gain no fight...

He's got them begging.

The network's CEO has reportedly reached out to both Ivanka and Melania Trump to try and get the Republican front-runner to change his mind
He refuses to attend over the inclusion of anchor Megyn Kelly as one of the debate moderators and will only speak to network head Rupert Murdoch

And Trump responds to Cruz's debate challenge. You knew it had to have some measure of comedy included.

Pretty funny...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Cruz had Trump admit, in the last debate, that the only reason he started to attack Cruz was because he was losing in Iowa. Just as Cruz was moving in to feed, the moderators saved Trump.

When it comes to flinging monkey poo, no doubt Trump is the champ. Or should I say chimp. But, in a real debate without moderators protecting their ratings, Trump would be mush.

99.x% of Americans would lose a head to head debate with Ted Cruz. I don't think anyone really believes otherwise, humorous election banter aside. I could challenge them all to skateboarding (and ten other things) and kick the shit out of them - if they'd even accept - or I could gloat that they were too scared, but so what.

It would be one thing if Cruz had the lead, or could have gotten the others to agree voluntarily and with a unified front a month or two ago, but as pointed out - it's ill-timed, and smacks of desperation in its obviousness, and I doubt anyone - including Cruz himself - expects it to happen. It's really just a jab, and was never intended otherwise, I'd bet.

^^^ even though Teds my guy that still got a laugh out of me. I would love to see these 2 sit down not just to debate eachother, but to use their collective experience and knowledge to sink the rest of the competition and rip into Clinton and Sanders. I think it would help bolster either of them as candidates and get independant voters leaning back to the Republican side for 2016. I agree from Trumps point of view that to simply enter a straight up debate with Ted Cruz cant go anywhere but downhill for Donald.

And Trump went up in the polls, yet again.

For the record, this isn't a high school debate competition. It's a race to run for President. The objective is to WIN. Trump seems to have a thorough grasp of that fact.

I just saw Rand Paul on Fox criticizing Trump for skipping the debate. That's rich. Roll Eyes

So far, what we know about the debate-

- Megan Kelly is moderating. She already has shown an obvious bias against him, even having Michael Moore on her show recently for moral support against Trump Eek.

- there will be some YouTube people asking, questions. One is an illegal alien from Mexico, another is a muslim advocate with an anti-Trump agenda, comparing him to Hitler.

- Fox is taunting Trump, comparing themselves to Putin, and that he is afraid of them.

If one is intelligent enough, they can clearly see that this "debate" is designed as an ambush for Trump. Fox is circling the wagons around the guy. This is not rocket science. This is the last ditch attempt to somehow derail Trump, and it is not going to work because he is smart enough to just say "NO". A stacked deck is hard to beat if no one enforces the rules of the game.

I see this event as much worse than CNN's debate with Candy Crowley as moderator in 2012. And this is Fox News.

If I was placed in a similar situation, I would do exactly the same as Trump.

I like Rand, a lot, much like Cruz, only for different reasons, and I do hope both keep doing what they're doing, because Presidential material or not, likely to ever win or not, they both are contributing to a better America in many meaningful ways. We need a couple of hundred more Rands and Teds, truth be known, yet we're also lucky to have just two.

Whoever paid premium $ to advertise during the debate is gonna be pissed if they don't have the expected ratings because of a decision Fox made.

This is most satisfying on many levels.

Trumps a man who knows how to use the Bully Pulpit.
