I hadn't thought of it that way, maybe there is a silver lining to the cesspool.

Rhetorical question, or are you sincere?

The answer, in case you're sincere, is: Identity Politics.

Effectiveness mattered, of course. But what mattered more to the low-info voters who put the GDCs in power are the elements of identity politics: race, color, sexual orientation, what education/where the education came from, and so on.

So, why do they love Obama? Because: Black. Because: Moslem. Because: Ivy League. Because: Choom. Because: metrosexual/homosexual. And so on and so forth.

Same with Mrs. Clinton. Why did they love her? Because: Vagina.

See? Effectiveness is a distant second to the identity issues.

Thanks,

Sap

Well the R’s don’t need him and the D’s shouldn’t want him back……
Unfortunately, the Rs are going to need at least 8 Ds with them to get anything at all done (60 votes to end a filibuster), and will need at least 15 Ds to confirm a SCOTUS appointment. In this polarized environment, those will be hard accomplishments.

Mad

They really are. I can't believe how people on my social media are acting. Some of them are even attacking me for voting for Trump, so I'm enjoying their tears. We were 3 states away from losing the court for decades and possibly having Texas, FL, and AZ become blue states from legalized voters. I'm ecstatic he won.

Then the SCOTUS can dwindle by four seats during the Trump Administration if the GDCs refuse to confirm.

Fuck compromise on the SCOTUS appointments. NO COMPROMISE.

Thanks,

It only requires a simple majority to confirm a SCOTUS nominee. However they can filibuster, which would require 60 votes to end. If it does end 53-47, the republicans would need 7 dems to overcome filibuster. The other option is the 'nuclear option' where the majority suspends the rules and only requires a simple majority to consent to the appointment.

I noticed that too. A lot of congrats handed out but I didn't hear any to Trump.

There is a lot of Congressional Brutus just waiting to back-stab Trump - more than they already have. For Ryan and Cruz and others, constant vigilance will be required. I hope Ryan gets replaced so a real legislative partnership could be forged.

So moving forward. Gulliani or Gowdy for attorney general. I think Gowdy might have more of a ax to grind and would be a bit more zealous in his pursuit of the criminal who wanted to be president.
John Bolton for SOS. Sounds good to me for starters!

Wonder what Comey is thinking today? Better check my 401 see if early retirement is a possibility.

Barack Obama has destroyed the democrat party, but you won't hear that reported in the media.
