$50 billion is less than 10% of FB's $716 billion capitalization. The current price of $251 is still above what it was a year ago and close to average of trailing 12 months. The pressure isn't coming from the stock price.

I think they realized they just outed themselves as publishers and laying the groundwork for removal of their immunity from lawsuits even if it will be two years down the road at least.

When Merkel who is anti-Trump as can be criticizes the de-platforming of Trump, that was a wake-up call to Zuck.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Interesting... local news has a headline about the FBI vetting troops out of fear of an insider attack. Yet when you click the story, it recycles to the front page.

At face value it appears we have to assure no Trump supporters are in the military. That is disconcerting. How do you determine that? This is getting more weird by the day.

So the Xiden transition team has asked the pentagon to "screen" all the troops stationed in DC and especially those that will be close to the inauguration for extremists and those that may have voted for Trump.

Now one would think the screening for nut jobs would be normal for anyone coming close to POTUS but possible Trump supporters.

And while at first the pentagon said WTF...no it seems they gave in.

Are they really this paranoid...god knows most of the rank and file (enlisted at least) probably are not the biggest Xiden supporters but that was the case for Obama as well...or Clinton for that matter.

Is this just more security theater (Occams razor would support this) or do they have real intel?

Hell, an entire Striker BN? with a attack drone squadron?....a 2nd level repair unit...shit Indian town Gap is not that far and they have quite a repair facility...at least they used to...

Not expecting an answer, just things that I am wondering.

Pretty much guarantees the NG troops will not have ammunition on their person (likely something where the 11th man is the only trusted sole and he/she is guarding the cache of loaded mags).

Although this may come as a shock to some, not everyone who becomes a member of the armed forces suddenly turns into a paragon of trustworthiness and virtue. Some of them are thieves, some are rapists, and some commit violent crimes, including murder. Some have killed for religious, ideological, or other reasons in the relatively recent past. Anyone who believes that there should be no screening of people armed with firearms at an event like the inauguration is stunningly ignorant. (No, not letting them have loaded weapons isn’t the answer either. If you believe that background screening is inappropriate and unnecessary, what would you think of their all being strip-searched to ensure they don’t have any hidden ammunition?)

And if you are so criminally stupid as to believe that it would be a good idea for some anti-Biden individual to actually kill him or anyone else there, consider what that would mean for not only the Nation, but Trump supporters and gun owners in particular.

You are right! The last thing we need is some nutcase to attack/kill slow joe! Turn him into a national hero! Imagine how the congressional voting would go when "new" laws regarding gun ownership came up.

I'm not being a conspiracy theorist here, I'm pointing out the projection.

The left usually tells us exactly what they are up to by accusing us of doing what they themselves are planning. This is true the vast majority of the time.

Today's topic: A right wing Trump voter may shoot at Biden.

This tells me that it's likely not the right wing Trump voters that need to be screened.

None of this is about security, it's optics and all about further damaging Trump, conservatives as right wing extremists, and most likely many people are buying the story.

Troops in the capital are there to reinforce the fear of gun owning, extremely dangerous zealot Trump supporters.

All the ancillary stories are just more fodder for keeping the story out there...

Its Nothing more than that...

All Trump supporters, are bad people, meaning that (SF, Trump supporters, Gun owners) cannot be trusted, therefore the threat must be real or they wouldn't bring in the troops.
