Who is Pascale Ferrier, the woman accused of sending ricin to Trump? https://nypost.com/2020/09/22/...ding-ricin-to-trump/ The Canadian woman charged with sending a ricin-laced letter to President Trump apparently tweeted a hashtag supportive of killing the commander-in-chief less than two weeks ago. Pascale Ferrier, of Quebec, was arrested Sunday at the border crossing between Fort Erie, Ont. and Buffalo, New York after allegedly mailing a letter addressed to Trump containing the highly toxic substance, according to CBC News. She was carrying a gun at the time of her arrest at the Peace Bridge crossing, CNN said. An account appearing to belong to Ferrier, 53, tweeted in response to a since-deleted post on Sept. 9: “I just read this tweet. I agree… Nobody did anything… It’s time to change! #killtrump.” She also allegedly tweeted the same day to someone, “I have a new name for Trump: ‘the ugly tyrant clown.'” The account bears the name Pascale Ferrier and lists Laval, Quebec as the location. In her bio, Ferrier describes herself as a “techno-creative Nomad.” Ferrier, who had been living in the US last year, was deported back to Canada after authorities found she overstayed her six-month visa and had committed a crime while in America, the New York Times reported, citing a senior intelligence official. Court records show that in March 2019, she was arrested in Texas on tampering with a government record charges. But the Times said she was also busted for possession of an unlicensed weapon and resisting arrest. She was found to be carrying a fake driver’s license, the official told the outlet. The tampering with a government record charged was dismissed that May after she spent 20 days in jail — which is when officials uncovered her visa issue. A Facebook page under the name Pascale Ferrier describes her as self-employed, and sources told CTV News that she worked as a computer programmer. Meanwhile, a Facebook business page called La Techno-Creative Nomade, run by that same Ferrier profile, posted in French about being in Texas in June 2019 and being “disappointed” that items were made in places like China and Mexico. “If I’m in USA, I want to buy ‘made in USA,'” a translated version of the post said. The poison-tainted letter addressed to Trump was detected at a government facility that screens mail addressed to the White House and the president. Two tests were done to confirm the presence of ricin, which has no known antidote. Ferrier is also suspected of sending other ricin-filled letters to police in Texas. “We believe a total of six letters were sent: one to the White House and five to Texas,” Cpl. Charles Poirier, spokesman for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s Quebec division, told CBC News. RCMP officers were searching a condominium in Saint-Hubert on Monday but would not say how the residence was linked to Ferrier. Ferrier is due to appear in federal court in Buffalo Tuesday afternoon. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." The Dem's constantly bitch about Trump stealing this election and that the results of the election will be illegitimate, yet they're the ones pulling this BS. And to answer your question, that's exactly what it is...paying black and brown people to vote. Maybe this group should be charged with racial discrimination given they aren't paying off the outstanding fees of 'white' felons. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. So... not sure if this is the correct thread, but you may find this cool. My nephew is a Toledo PD SWAT Sniper that has been on a couple of presidential visit protective details. He has worked very closely with the CAT Team, Counter Sniper Teams and the FBI. He sent me these pictures this morning from the Swanton, Ohio rally last night: Nephew on the right glassing the crowd. Rifle directly in front of him Something the Counter Sniper Team gave him... Patch, Challenge Coin and box of M&M's from Air Force One Also, last summer he was invited by the FBI to qualify as a sniper in Progressive Field (Cleveland Indians). He was tasked as a backup if something happened to one of the FBI guys (illness, injury) during the All Star Game. He got to shoot live rounds into target/bullet traps in the seats from his perch. Said he shot his best groups ever. I am proud of that kid... The "Boz"

Police: 77-year-old veteran attacked for wearing MAGA hat https://wcyb.com/news/nation-w...for-wearing-maga-hat RED BLUFF, Calif. (KRCR) — A 77-year-old military veteran described how he was attacked in Red Bluff, apparently because he was wearing a 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) hat supporting President Donald Trump. The attack happened Friday, September 18 in broad daylight at the Red Bluff post office.. The victim did not want to be identified. He told KRCR-TV the attack caught him completely by surprise. He was wearing a MAGA hat and a 'Back the Blue' mask with a blue line in support of police. He was approached by a man and woman. "She looked at me and she goes, 'We just don't like people like you.' Just kind of got shocked a little bit and said, 'Well, that breaks my heart,' and no more sooner out of my mouth, I get hit on the left side of my head. " The victim was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was treated and released. A photo shows cuts and scrapes to the top of his head. Three days later he said he's still having headaches. Red Bluff Police later arrested the suspect 26-year-old Daniel Gomez-Martinez for battery and elder abuse. "I just feel kind of bad, seven years in the military, Vietnam veteran and 30 plus years in law enforcement and you're always taught situational awareness. And this guy came out of ... I never saw it coming." _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Mark Twain

Trump administration asks court to act quickly on census appeal "The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Tuesday to quickly resolve another dispute related to the 2020 census and citizenship – this one involving whether people living in the country illegally must be included in the apportionment of congressional seats. Last year, the court dealt a blow to the administration’s efforts to include a question about citizenship on the census. Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court’s four more liberal justices in ruling that the government’s justification for including the question was a pretext, and shortly after that ruling, the Department of Commerce, which is responsible for the census, abandoned its plan to add a citizenship question. The administration returned to the Supreme Court on Tuesday on another census issue. Acting U.S. Solicitor General Jeffrey Wall appealed a decision by a three-judge district court in New York that blocked the Department of Commerce from providing the president with information about the number of people who are in the United States illegally when the department furnishes him with a state-by-state breakdown of the population for use in the allocation of seats in the House of Representatives. Wall asked the justices to move quickly and schedule the case for oral argument in December – at which point the White House and Senate Republicans hope to have a successor to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the bench. Under the federal laws governing the census, the secretary of commerce gives the president a state-by-state breakdown of the total population, to be used to allocate seats in the House of Representatives. On July 21, 2020, President Donald Trump issued a memorandum directing the secretary to include information in the breakdown that would allow him to exclude people who are in the country illegally from the apportionment calculation. Three days later, a group of state and local governments, led by New York, went to court to challenge the memorandum. On Sept. 10, a three-judge district court barred the Trump administration from implementing the memorandum. The district court concluded that the memorandum violates federal law by requiring seats in the House of Representatives to be allocated based on something other than “the results of the census alone,” and the president lacks “discretion to exclude illegal aliens on the basis of their legal status.” The Trump administration’s appeal to the Supreme Court on Tuesday argued that the challengers lack a legal right to sue. The district court’s ruling on the merits is also wrong, the administration added, because it is contrary to both federal law and the Supreme Court’s cases: The secretary, the administration argued, has the discretion to determine how to conduct the census and tally the total population, including by using administrative records from outside the census questionnaires. If the district court’s ruling is not “promptly corrected,” the administration stressed, “the decision will harm the ability of the Secretary of Commerce to provide a complete report by December 31, 2020.” The administration asked the justices to fast-track the appeal. By statute, it explained, the secretary’s report has to go to the president by Dec. 31, and then the president must provide Congress by Jan. 10, 2021, with a statement indicating both the total population in each state and the number of representatives to which each state is entitled. “Absent some form of relief from the judgment,” the administration emphasized, “the Secretary and the President will be forced to make reports by the statutory deadline that do not reflect the President’s important policy decision concerning the apportionment.” Therefore, the administration urged the justices to set a deadline of Oct. 2 for the challengers’ response and to consider the appeal at either the Oct. 9 or Oct. 16 conference, with oral argument during the December argument session."

I'm pretty dumb about U.S. Senate procedures, but it appears there are a number of procedures that are also "pretty dumb". https://townhall.com/tipsheet/...cott-scotus-n2576695 Schumer Just Blocked an Election Security Hearing to Boycott SCOTUS Democrat Senators refused to show up to an election security hearing on Capitol Hill Tuesday afternoon in an effort to boycott efforts by President Trump and Republicans to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center Bill Evanina was expected to testify and is leading the U.S. response to attacks on election security from foreign entities. McConnell: "just days ago, Senator Schumer stated that hearings like the one he just blocked were vital to “protect our democracy.” Now, the Democratic Leader has sacrificed today’s hearing, just 42 days before the election, in favor of a shameful political stunt." "Tomorrow, the Senate Intelligence Committee and Senate Armed Services Committee are scheduled to receive briefings from top intelligence and military officials on efforts to protect our election – unless Senator Schumer again objects to the Senate doing its job," the statement continues. Senator Marco Rubio, the Acting Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, attempted to conduct the hearing when Schumer objected.

https://www.washingtontimes.co...ring-critical-race-/ more on Critical Race Theory training. President Trump is on the attack. President Trump signed an executive order Tuesday barring federal funds from any contractors who conduct critical-race theory diversity training , saying it promotes a “destructive ideology.” great move Expanding on action the White House took earlier this month with federal agencies, the president said the administration won’t allow “race or sex stereotyping or scapegoating in the federal workforce” and won’t permit contractors “to inculcate such views in their employees.” “Such ideas may be fashionable in the academy, but they have no place in programs and activities supported by federal taxpayer dollars,” the president said. “Research also suggests that blame-focused diversity training reinforces biases and decreases opportunities for minorities.” Critical-race theory and “White privilege” diversity training had been on the rise in the administration before the White House moved this month to stop it. Mr. Trump’s order cites examples such as training materials from Argonne National Laboratories that stated racism “is interwoven into every fabric of America” and described statements like “color blindness” and the “meritocracy” as “actions of bias.” Materials from Sandia National Laboratories for non-minority males stated that an emphasis on “rationality over emotionality” was a characteristic of “white male[s],” and asked those present to “acknowledge” their “privilege” to each other, Mr. Trump said. “This destructive ideology is grounded in misrepresentations of our country’s history and its role in the world,” he said. “This ideology is rooted in the pernicious and false belief that America is an irredeemably racist and sexist country; that some people, simply on account of their race or sex, are oppressors; and that racial and sexual identities are more important than our common status as human beings and Americans.” Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought said requiring or pressuring employees to attend training sessions “where they are told they are inherently racist is un-American.”

Nah. Solid brass doorknobs are likely quite valuable and might be damaged being used in this way. I suggest visiting with a local farrier and buying a couple dozen cheap, basic, steel horse shoes. Put them in a sack and go to town.

I know nothing about senate rules, but a *whole* lot of organizations must have a quorum to be competent to conduct business. If enough folks no-show, then the folks that do show have wasted their time as the board cannot take any action without a quorum. Maybe the senate has something similar and requires more than a simple majority for a quorum. A common quorum requirement is more than half, but the senate may have a different requirement.

“ Article I, section 5 of the Constitution requires that a quorum (51 senators) be present for the Senate to conduct business. Often, fewer than 51 senators are present on the floor, but the Senate presumes a quorum unless a roll call vote or quorum call suggests otherwise.” https://www.google.com/search?...rome-mobile&ie=UTF-8 Which means we could see 51 Republican senators show up, then vote on a new Supreme Court Justice.
