I went to a Presidential event and had to return an empty holster to our car.

But yet they allow range finders.

Not really related to Trump here, but in reading the accounts of how the secret service were stretched so thin trying to guard Trump, along with Jill Biden doing something in PA, along with Joe himself doing whatever he was doing, I looked up how many people the secret service employ. It's almost 8,000 people. They have asked for another 2,000. I know the government is inefficient at everything they do but does that seem like a lot of people?

Guarding presidents isn't their only job.
They also do counterfeit money stuff.
Weird combo, but here we are.

Apparently Senator Johnson (R-WI) dropped a massive tweet about the so-called USSS briefing the Senators received.

He and Senator Cruz are livid.

FOUR questions were allowed. From Democrats. Cruz and Johnson were in the questioner queue, when the USSS suddenly ended the briefing.

Can someone post that tweet? I am unable to do so right now.

From Bongino:

USSS memo: ASB=Air Security Branch
What this actually says is that they DID NOT have drones at the Bethel Park rally.

The current working theory is that the shooter was planning a mass casualty event, but climbed on the roof to evade pursuit by local police...

A hit needs a dead guy to blame it on, who might be a doofus, and a shooter. They don't have to be the same guy. Remember the seemingly out of time dried blood on the perp? I'll guess the shooter shot out of the window below and in front of him. A guy in an FBI jacket washing off the roof? Yep that's normal.

That's an intriguing theory. Maybe he planned to start spraying the crowd (he would have been good at that), but felt like security was closing in so decided to take what shots he could at the headliner.

Trump met with Secret Service Director Cheatle at RNC

JUL. 18, 2024 4:03 PM BY THE RIGHT SCOOP

It’s being reported by Fox News that the embattled Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle met with President Trump yesterday while she was at the RNC.

They can’t report what the meeting was about, only to say it was a short meeting.

A source tells Fox News that former President Trump has met with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle in Milwaukee — the site of the Republican National Convention — following last weekend’s shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania.

The meeting on Wednesday was described by the source as short.

Cheatle has been facing calls to step down from her position following the attempted assassination against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

When Cheatle appeared at Republican National Convention on Wednesday, she was confronted by several senators demanding answers.

In a related news story, Fox News is also reporting that Trump was told by the Secret Service (Cheatle?) not to attend the wake for Corey Comperatore because they wouldn’t be able to secure the area:

Fox News confirmed that Trump had wanted to attend the public viewing for Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who shielded his family from flying bullets during a Trump rally on Saturday and ultimately died.

But the Secret Service told Trump not to attend the wake due to an inability to secure the densely wooded area nearby.

Could that have been what the meeting was about? I doubt she would have traveled to the RNC just for a meeting about that, but who knows.

Something that almost anyone who has experience in dignitary protection will point out is that the principal very often tolerates less protection than the bodyguards want to give/think is wise. An incident like this will usually change a lot of minds—but only for a time, and then it’s back to, “I need to meet the people.”

“Oh, what a good idea that was!” copycat incidents or attempts are the sort of thing that happens every time after an incident like this, and I’d bet a nickel or two that there will be a lot more emphasis on protecting against long range rifle fire than there has been at any time since the lessons of 1963 Dallas faded from memory.

Dan Bongino stated this theory on his podcast today.
Not sure why or how it’s relevant.

A theory that is unlikely to be proven true or false.
Unless the dead 20 year old that out smarted the secret service, state, and local law enforcement left a manifesto and even then how would you prove that a three letter agency or his mom didn’t alter or create the manifesto.

In other words a theory that can only deflect or diminish the assassination attempt.
Gee, now why would anyone want to diminish the perception of an assassination attempt?

Perhaps those that would be responsible for leaving the roof top open, which was used for an assassination attempt, murder, and critically wounding fellow citizens.

In politics theories are put forth to guide public opinion.
Keep a questioning attitude when theories are put forth.

A mass casualty event puts the focus on the gun.
An assassination puts the focus on assassination attempt of the Republican candidate, President Trump as the target.

Not to mention they have a communications division that sets up radio systems for 5he field offices and for non-presidential protection details like this years RNC and Trumps event on Saturday, plus a ton of administrative staff, technical security specialists, a uniformed division, etc…. I would say roughly half of the organization is gun toting agents

It's a massive bureaucracy with many layers of ego and self-importance. That self-importance is largely focused around self-promotion and self-preservation. <<snip>>

I worked for NASA at MSFC back around 2000 as a database programmer in the financial division. I designed and created a database system in MS Access that took monthly billings from all of the different NASA centers nationwide, ALL of which sent the data to MSFC in differing formats, and then automatically converted it into one common format, then automatically corrected errors in the data input. Lots of different report types were then created with a click of a button.

My database won a LOT of awards, including cash awards of $1,000 and more... all for the idiot woman one floor below me who took credit for it all, and who was constantly calling me to come down and show her how to do the simple stuff!!! Never once did I get any recognition for my hard work over 2+ years on the project, and despite the amazing salary, especially for someone who never graduated from college, I walked away from it in 2001. I hated the woman who kept taking all the credit for MY work, plus all of the constant meetings for bullshit stuff, up to and including why we weren't getting enough work done! Hint: It could be because we were always sitting in phuckin meetings!

"Massive bureaucracy with many layers of ego and self-importance" is an absolute understatement!!! Mad

I am sure they want nothing more than to restrict Trumps apperances with "the people" and then blame it on their own incompetence. And double sure they didn't want Trump at Corey Compentore's wake when Biden didn't want to go and was not even wanted there by the family. Bad optics; Trump being seen as welcome by the family and caring for people and Biden only cares about himself.
