It has mutated- There's lots of variants. There has been from the start.
It has become less lethal so it can spread more easily. The ones that are less lethal have more time to spread and become the dominant type of virus- Natural Selection.

Yes. Viruses are constantly mutating, as all cellular genetic material is prone to do during their normal replication cycles. In early December, wife & I went to a party that featured 3 Nashville musicians. It was outside by the pool and I was one of only a handful of people that were masked. A friend of mine made a comment "why are you wearing that? They don't work." I replied that I was wearing it to be polite. 4 days later wife received a message that someone at the party had the Covid. My friend and his wife both came down with it. I don't know if anyone else did. I saw him yesterday and asked how it was. Said he couldn't get out of bed for 7 days. I didn't remind him of his mask quip.

How do you know they caught it at the party? Could have been anywhere else, especially if they were the only ones there who did.

That's bologna. I've read numerous times from numerous infectious disease docs that everytime a virus mutates, it get weaker. I smell nothing but BS and more attempts to terrify the public.

Wisconsin police on Thursday arrested the pharmacist who intentionally spoiled more than 500 doses of the coronavirus vaccine by removing it from refrigeration.

The pharmacist is an employee of the Aurora Medical Center. The company on Saturday reported the spoiled doses but said they had been accidentally left out overnight by an employee at a facility in the city of Grafton.

However, the company said Wednesday the employee involved "acknowledged that they intentionally removed the vaccine from refrigeration,” according to the Associated Press.

The unnamed pharmacist was fired before the arrest. And no other employees were involved in the incident, the company said.

A motive has yet to be revealed . The doses were reportedly contained in 57 vials that the pharmacist removed from refrigeration and that were given to patients in shots, reportedly knowing the vaccine would be harmless but also ineffective.

Nonprofit parent organization Aurora Health Care is headquartered in Milwaukee and operates 15 hospitals in Wisconsin.

The pharmacist has been arrested on charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, adulterating a prescription drug, and criminal damage to property, according to news reports. The FBI is also reportedly investigating the incident.

Well, when it is, let me know, because I can't fathom it.

If the spoiled doses had gotten loose and administered to people, what would have happened? Would it actively make one sick, or just not work (which could lead to one getting infected)?

They did. At least 56 people were injected with them in the next few days. They are supposed to be ineffective, but not harmful.

They have no idea where they caught it and I don't know if anybody caught it at the party. The host did not report to the health dept. so no contact tracing was done. I was observing that my friend is anti-mask. He and/or his wife may have already had the virus when they attended the party. We were all exposed at the party, especially my very social wife. That is why large (40 or so people were at the party) gatherings are discouraged and mask-wearing in public is encouraged.

The reports are that the UK strain is more easily transmitted between people, not that it is "stronger" in its effects. This follows that mutations that allow greater transmission are favorably selected.

The problem with viruses like Ebola is that they incapacitate and kill the victim very quickly and it's very obvious they are ill. So Ebola outbreaks burn out fast before spreading. The thing about COVID19 is that it is not particularly deadly for most of the population and can spread even when infected people do not show symptoms.
