One thing about living in a rural area... farmers with cows, hogs, chickens... then the deer, turkeys, etc. running around.

Looks like a badger to me.

Thing is the growers can only hold the chickens about a week after they reach ideal weight and then there is usually only about a week before they are restocked with new chicks to raise. It's a rolling process and a huge deal if they close for more than a couple days. They do normally close down on weekends but use those two day to buffer demand and work them if needed.

That badger should be dropped off in the White House press pool, about 10 seconds before the briefing goes live. The press snots would get an education, and we'd get entertained.

The workers used ice packs to mask their temperature! They want to work, so they can send their money back to their families in Mexico.

But the real problem is for the farmers. The new stock has no where to go, since the hog barns are still full of over grown market pigs.

Things need to open back up or things will get a little messy.

Another issue facing the farmers, is they're not part of the medical field.
So the ag supply companies temporarily will not sell them N95 masks. Which they need to wear in the barns, due to the fine feed dust.

I dunno, compared to the last guy, this guy seems curious, inquisitive, and mellow. I’d suggest one like the last one: older, bigger, pissed off, and not interested in being bothered. A finished market hog at 270 doesn’t gain 5lbs daily. From 200 pounds to finish average daily gain is 1.5- 2lbs. A hog can be held to a daily weight gain of less than 1lb per day with limiting feed to 3.5 lbs daily.

I appreciate that but even a 700 lb feeder steer will only gain about 3 lbs per day. You are spot on with barn space a problem with extended feed to slaughter days.

Yesterday I estimated more than half of the shoppers at my supermarket to wear masks. Funny thing: 30 years ago they were making laws against Antifa types covering their faces in protests. 15 years ago they were discussing laws against Muslim women covering their faces in public. As of this week, you're required to cover your face on public transport in most German states, and while shopping in some. Good thing we never followed through with the general ban like Austria and France; Muslim activists there must be laughing their asses off.

Saw an interesting development...a Ill. state rep petitioned the court and got an order staying the governor's 30 day extension of his stay home order, ruling it illegal under their laws. It looks like it will be headed to the state supreme court but it's about time some state legislatures took some action to restrain these leftist governors.

In looking back over the last several months, it is obvious to me that we are fighting a war against misinformation, along with the CCP virus. The CCP virus appears to be more deadly for the elderly with a variety of comordidities (e.g. obesity, diabetes, COPD, hypertension, cancer, etc.) than most strains of influenza. In younger people we also have a large number of asymptomatic infections which resolve with no medical intervention at all. Even in the healthy elderly, a significant number of infections may be asymptomatic:

Before we can really get a grip on the lethality of the CCP virus we need to know with a reasonable level of assurance two numbers:
1. The number of deaths FROM the CCP virus, not just those “WITH” the CCP virus, over the course of the event or meaningful length of time
2. The number of infected people (symptomatic and symptomatic) with the CCP virus over the course of the event or meaningful length of time

We will never know the exact numbers but we will get close in a year or two. Current estimates range from 0.1% to 0.4% in countries such as Germany, Iceland and South Korea who have done significant testing and have a number of cases and deaths. It may be much lower.

Unfortunately in the US, the current estimates of the number of infections are limited. On a positive note they are clearly pointing towards the likely finding that the CCP virus is already wide spread in many communities (eg. NY, Santa Clara County, LA County, etc.) with many of those being asymptomatic and the vast majority of those who are symptomatic, recovering:

This means our normal, healthy, immune systems will adapt as it always has to new infectious agents and the vast majority will survive with little or no adverse health effects. For people with compromised immune systems, for what ever reason, the outcome will likely be less certain.

Based on the above antibody findings, quarantining healthy people and shutting down entire economies can no longer be justified. If continued. those actions will do much more harm than the CCP virus.

I personally have absolutely no faith in data from CDC or most state health departments. In particular, anything the CDC produce regarding this incident will be forever suspect and dripping with the stink of CYA and their incompetent control actions and guidance to physicians regarding death certifications. The NIH/NIAID falls into the same bucket. If you want to learn how to do it right, study Taiwan.

I am 67 and relatively healthy. For my part, last week I started getting back to my life, doing my work, taking care of my health and moving about the world as I normally do. We also must recognize that there is a lot yet to be learned about this specific virus and how it behaves in the wild against the backdrop of billions of human hosts with their unique genetic and epigenetic makeup. That is going to take years most likely.

In the meantime, having read the Art of War, and being cognizant of the teaching of FDR - "In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.”; and Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, I must also consider the possibility that the inflammatory response by many anti-American politicians (eg. Newsom, Pelosi, Northam, etc.), bureaucrats, and media outlets, and perhaps the CCP itself, is a continuation of the efforts we have all witnessed to overturn the results of the 2016 election using misinformation and fear - and, at least in the case of the CCP - perhaps, win the first battle of WWIII by crippling most other economies in the world without firing a single shot.
