Where did this come from? The 1-5% study? Because 1-5% is not "WILL NOT."

It seems like an insignificant chance... until, for example, you think about counting how many people you get within 6 feet of when you go to the grocery store.
It came from the video on page 250 that ChicagoSigMan posted. Go to the 5:30 mark where he specifically discusses "sustained contact"; "very long, sustained contact...15-30 minutes".

What? Not enough PANIC for you?

Well I am in sustained contact with people for my job, sometimes for over an hour or multiple hours. I need to touch things in their houses, door knobs, light switches, furniture, electronics. People refuse to keep their distance from me when working, the last day I worked I had to tell a customer to back off and stop breathing in my face or I am walking out the door and he could call a different company.

So for me I am putting myself at risk, every time I walk into someone's house. We are screening all our customers, but people lie, ALL THE FUCKING TIME. I catch customers in lies 4 or 5 times a day, on innocuous things, if it meant that they wouldn't get service I have ZERO doubt they'd lie about having a fever, a cough, or have a sick family member in the house.

Even if I had work, I have no desire to go back, already applied for one different job, will be applying for more regardless if I have my existing job or not after all this.

Where the hell were all of the reporters screaming about constitutionality when Governor's shut down their states and restricted travel?

Trump mentions it as a thought and they lose their shit!

And now Cuomo says a Federally mandated lock down would be a "Federal Declaration of War" and would cause mass chaos. You asked for more organized and comprehensive Federal response, but you don't like where that leads.

All of the people advocating all of these shutdowns and quarantines are essentially looking at what China did with Wuhan, and quickly expanded to all of the entire Hubei province, and saying the US should do the same. If the Left believes China's actions reduced the spread, then doing the same in the biggest hot zone in the US logically follows.

Bring it on...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Only the extremely rich and well connected will get it. The rest of us will be more likely to have a threesome with a unicorn and a mermaid than to ever even see this drug that is cheap and common EVERYWHERE except the US.

Cheap old drug that is easy to make. Loads of it around because it's used for R.A. and Lupus, amongst other things.

Bayer AG has donated three million tablets of the malaria drug Resochin, which is similar to hydroxychloroquine, to the U.S. government for potential use against coronavirus.

Mylan NV is ramping up production and expects to begin supplying it more broadly in mid-April. It said with the raw materials on hand it can make 50 million tablets to potentially treat more than 1.5 million patients.

Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd said it would donate more than six million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablets.

That video of everybody in New York City cheering at the same time for those on the front line was very moving.

I am not making light of what you're doing AT ALL and thank you for "being out there", but when I read what you wrote, this IMMEDIATELY popped into mind...

Even if we take this video from one doctor as God's word from on high, I don't think his message is quite that cut and dried.

He says you have to have sustained contact for 15-30 minutes... But he also says you get it from shaking someone's hand at a party, or "slapping hands" with someone who will get sick in two days, or by touching a random thing out in the world.

Florida has done very little testing per their population. They have an average age of 67. They are a mobile senior retirement vehicle. Spring break and regional travel from New Orleans two weeks ago infected the state. Hopefully our senior members here who reside in Florida are taking extreme measures to protect themselves.

Then there is this jewel From the Detroit Free Press.

The entirety of the Free Press article can be found below.

FEMA: Michigan has not requested major disaster declaration for coronavirus

Paul Egan, Detroit Free Press

LANSING — Michigan has not yet requested a major disaster declaration for the coronavirus, a spokesman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency said Wednesday.

The administration of President Donald Trump has already declared major disasters for Iowa, Louisiana, New York, California and Washington, officials confirmed.

But for Michigan, where the number of confirmed cases topped 1,700 Tuesday, with at least 24 deaths, "FEMA has not yet received a request for a major disaster declaration," spokesman Michael Hart said.

Michigan ranks fifth in the nation for total numbers of coronavirus cases, behind New York, New Jersey, Washington and California.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has repeatedly called on Trump to declare a national disaster in connection with the pandemic and did obtain a limited disaster designation for the purposes of accessing federal small business loans. She has also criticized the federal government for acting slowly to prepare for the coronavirus, not declaring a federal disaster, and not providing a national strategy to deal with the pandemic.

A major disaster declaration brings increased federal funding and other forms of assistance.

"This is something that we are reviewing and looking into," said Tiffany Brown, a spokeswoman for Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

My county had some good news today. A patient previously hospitalized in critical condition was well enough to be released to recuperate in her own home. She is the first formerly critical condition patient released from the hospital for our county.

We know what the symptoms are.
We know we need to wash our hands and avoid touching our faces.
We know that "casual" contact WILL NOT transmit the virus to one another.
We know it requires a level of long-term exposure for it to be transmitted.
We know if you feel sick, stay at home and self-isolate/quarantine.
We know it takes up to 14 days for symptoms to go away.
We know it attacks primarily the lungs.
We know a big "hot spot" is New York City.
.
.
.

So given all that, let's move forward, get our lives back, get back to work, get this country on its feet again, get this economy going again, and for the love of God, STOP THE PANIC!

Let's just friggin' DO IT!!!

AMEN !!!! I finally reached the point that I sent our ass-hat governor's office a somewhat polite but blunt email today. I had to be careful but in no uncertain terms let him know he was ruining the lives of people and businesses with his new 30 day stay in place order.
I'm not under any belief it will do any immediate good but maybe, just maybe, if enough people would flood his office (and others) and tell him how fed up we are it might eventually get their attention. Let them know in very certain terms that come next election time, the people will remember this crap.

ERJ PILOT...

You seem to be the one using the most exclamation points and capital letters yet you keep tossing out that everyone who does not agree with you is “panicking”.

Give it a rest...please.

Take a walk...go shake hands with as many people as you can find...lick faces...have at it.

Most here are simply stating their anxieties but you seem to be starting to attack people for their statements more often.

Let....it.....go....please

Dude...you hystericals have been running this thread for two solid months. I, along with SEVERAL other level-headed individuals, have had enough of the fear-mongering.

FLAME SUIT - DONNED

Have a look at my signature quoting Maj. Winters. I'm just gonna say it and flame away if you like, but if this country ever gets into a SHTF scenario and I were to wind up in a foxhole with all the ones here who have been the primary fear-mongers (yourself included), please don't be offended when I go find another foxhole.

To put it in aviation-speak the way I understand it, if I reacted in an emergency the way a lot of you are reacting to this COVID B.S., I wouldn't even make it to the QRH (Quick Reference Handbook - guide that tells me how to fix the emergency). The plane would crash...

You guys are so filled with pure DREAD that you can't even muster up anything POSITIVE to try and come out from cowering in your corner. It seems the only way to get your attention IS to use capital letters and explanation points.

I think you'll find I'm not alone in my sentiments...

Be safe and don't lick the doorknob, dude. JSMH...

Others are posting pro/ con...but you seem to be targeting others opinions.

NOPE! Not targeting their opinions. I'm targeting other's irrational reactions. I'm trying to post something positive (on previous page) and trying to get everyone motivated to get this country going again. What is that met with? Negativity. Sorry...I don't deal well with negativity.

I'll do you a favor and put myself on PAUSE from this thread for a day or four. I'm out...

My post count in this thread is at 46. Sue me...

Um, …; I was accused of presenting a straw man argument some time ago, and although I disputed that allegation at the time, we clearly have at least a battalion of such exaggerated claims about other people’s positions marching through this thread now. If we’re going to criticize other’s statements, we owe it to all of us—them and ourselves—to understand what those statements actually mean, and not distort them into something that it’s easy for us to ridicule and knock down.

Intemperate, exaggerated reactions to others’ views reveal much more about us than it does about them, and I am curious where the wicked witch and her torch are now.

If it helps to hear it from someone else erj_pilot, you are starting to come off like a flaming asshole in this thread. You repeatedly shout down and shame anyone that post something that does not fit your viewpoint and proclaim anything you post as indisputable fact. We are all friends here, or used to be before this thread, perhaps a cold beer and break is in order?
