No one, MSM or otherwise, has said "everyone who gets coronavirus dies."

Even in high risk groups, any one person who gets it is more likely than not to recover.
I understand that. I'm of that thought also.
The media is thriving off the panic; a 'normal' case would seem to be a wet blanket on that.

I certainly think the round-the-clock all-coronavirus-all-the-time coverage on the news channels is totally unnecessary, and I think it has to be contributing to the mass irrationality happening right now.

However, I also understand why they're doing it. All the news stations are businesses, and they make money by having people watch their channel. The majority of the public only wants to hear about coronavirus right now, so that's all they're reporting on - if they spend an hour talking about something else, everybody's going to change the channel until they find someone talking about coronavirus.

With all that said, my wife has had various news channels on TV in the background the last few days.

Not a lot of Fox because a bunch of the people they've had on talking about coronavirus are just totally off the deep end on either conspiracy theories or completely ignoring science and what we actually know about coronavirus so far.

She's probably had CNN on more than anything else, and while I don't normally like CNN, my impression has been that aside from the unnecessary 24 hour coverage and the obligatory Trump-bashing, their coverage itself has been pretty reasonable. Anderson Cooper had a "virtual town hall" with Dr. Fauci and several other experts last night that was very factual and to the point.

Yeah, really overdone, but I’m becoming worried that we’re about to miss our quota for posts that mention “crazy,” “insane,” or some variation thereof. I mean, it’s been over a half dozen now since the last one and I can’t imagine what would happen if the trend continues much longer. And then there are the posts that bring us up to date on the latest store that has some bare shelves. I keep checking in to make sure I don’t miss any, but I’m beginning to think that they may be tapering off and perhaps people are ignoring their responsibilities.

I took the day off to get yard work done and thought it would be a good time to go to the NC DMV for my RealID. Thought that maybe the line would not be long with concerns over COVID-19.

I was wrong.

At the DMV in Concord, NC they have a numbering system with a Letter followed by a number.
Example: C327, E476, J801

I assume the letter refers to what you are there for.

The 32” or 36” screen shows advertising on two-thirds of the screen.

One-third shows numbers being served, example; E567, F784, C237.
It does not show numbers for all letters.
So if you have D426 you have no idea as to how many people are waiting in front of you.
This may work good for those behind the counter, but those waiting only can guess where they are in line or if their number has been called.

Here is the kicker.
You cannot see the number board from outside, nor hear the numbers being called.
You cannot use your phone, or have anything to eat or drink while in the waiting room.
You cannot standup in the waiting room to keep your distance from others waiting.
You cannot standup in the entrance way.
You must sit in the closely spaced chairs for your 2 hr minimum or 4 hr average wait.

The lady said I had to be seated to get served.

So with the threat of COVID-19, NC DMV will not bend the rules to allow standing to keep distance from others.

How does the Governor or other Government officials get their new Driver License or RealID ?
Has no government employee ever looked at the numbering system and said; What the hell is this.
Why must we sit 6” away from others for hours, at this time when the threat from COVID-19 is elevated.

The President's Chief of Staff and the President need to learn that an address announced for 3 pm, is held on-the-motherfucking-dot at 3 pm.

This is looking like they can't make up their mind about the President's message.

Dr. Fauci lays it out here plain and simple: @realDonaldTrump’s actions to ban travel to/from China and Europe, has saved, and will save, American lives—period

The problem in Italy, Fauci says later, is that they didn’t take any aggressive measures at the beginning of the bell curve. The US may not have prepared its internal mitigation actions quickly enough, but the actions taken to keep new cases from coming in from the outside has substantially altered the bell curve in the US. “The new China is Europe,” Fauci emphasizes to the Morning Joe panel in defending the travel restrictions.

WHO director-General says that Europe has become the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, "with more reported cases than the rest of the world combined, apart from China."

The local voluntary quarantine center in Kent, WA had a patient, whose status is unconfirmed, walk out of the facility yesterday morning. He passed a security guard that "attempted to stop him" and then went to the gas station across the street and then got on a bus that's being "sterilized" and disappeared. They're telling us about it today.

I have to wonder about India. On the Hopkins coronavirus summary, they're only showing 81 confirmed cases in India. I suspect that may be a testing issue, because it seems like with the problems they have with overcrowding and poor living conditions in their large cities, coronavirus would spread like wildfire.
