If I fly again, I'll wear a mask but only because I don't want people to see my mouth open when I fall asleep.
Because probably 99% of them fall right into line with the leftists. LBJs plan worked. Last Saturday took my kid to a birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza. The mom of the birthday kid is a white lady, no mask. Dad is a black guy, wore a mask. She mentioned they rented the theater for the kids next weekend to watch a movie. My wife said the dad is the one who did that because he's paranoid of Covid. My wife talks to the other parents, I don't talk to them at all. _____________

Good article: https://brownstone.org/article...o-talk-about-sweden/ When, the summer before last, the results of the first Covid wave began to be tallied in the media, there were different ways of measuring the devastation. One way of looking at the pandemic was to focus on how many people died — more than half a million around the world by the end of June. Another was to try assessing the complicated impacts of the various measures taken to combat the virus. When a lot of the functions in society were frozen, people struggled — especially the most vulnerable. For those who preferred the first perspective, there was plenty of data to lean on. Meticulous records of the death toll were being kept in most countries, especially the wealthy ones, and presented in stylish graphs on various sites: the Johns Hopkins University website, Worldometer, Our World in Data. . . . ^^^ Conclusion: It was beginning to become increasingly clear that the political measures that had been deployed against the virus were of limited value. But no one spoke about this. From a human perspective, it was easy to understand why so many were reluctant to face the numbers from Sweden. For the inevitable conclusion must be that millions of people had been denied their freedom, and millions of children had had their education disrupted, all for nothing. Who would want to be complicit in that? "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. Remember the Great Barrington Declaration? A lot of folks spoke up and signed this document. The Swamp and all of its media toadies worked actively to shut them down. I want to see the FDA, CDC and NIH entirely defunded and disbanded. They have proven to be not just ineffective but deadly to public liberty and health. Any function truly needed (not much IMHO) should be devolved to the individual states. ____________________________ "It is easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled." Another great article from the Brownstone Institute... https://brownstone.org/article...gainst-dictatorship/ Must We Make a Case Against Dictatorship? Some federal officials have made startling statements in recent days. Given the times in which we live, we can no longer take for granted that they won’t be convincing. Ever since lockdowns, which shattered all our social and political rituals and assumptions about government and public health, it seems like everything is open to either question or adoption. Even settled conventions like the separation of powers and checks and balances are being blithely dismissed as pointless distractions. On the table now is the power of an unelected bureaucracy, on its own authority and without any juridical check, to mandate that every citizen keep his or her face covered. The Biden administration and the administrative state that technically falls under its purview seems to believe this power should never be questioned by a court. . . . [snip] As to the CDC? That "organization" can kiss my ass!! I'm sorry, but its "public health AUTHORITY" [emphasis added] ends right where my Constitutional RIGHTS begin! FYATHYRIO... erj_pilot: Since you brought me there... here's another: The Grave Dangers of Politicizing Medicine For the past 20 years, medical practitioners (nurses and doctors) were ranked the most trusted professions by the Gallup Honesty and Ethics poll. When a patient visits a doctor, he or she can assume that the doctor will only consider treatments benefiting the patient. This is because hundreds of years of medical practice have established a tradition of trust in which the patient believes that the doctor adheres to the ancient Hippocratic Oath (first do no harm) and the modern-day Declaration of Geneva, the ethics of medical practice published by the World Medical Association. The Declaration of Geneva’s Physician’s Pledge states in part: “I will not permit considerations of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political affiliation, race, sexual orientation, social standing or any other factor to intervene between my duty and my patient.” Political affiliation should not be a consideration when a doctor sees a patient. Of course, things are seldom as simple as they seem. Politics and medicine have been around as long as human civilization, and the two have been intermingled at the individual level since ancient times. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, in the Western world particularly, we have started to see the politicization of medicine at the institutional level, and this should worry us all. ... https://brownstone.org/article...liticizing-medicine/ "Some things are apparent. Even before politicizing medicine, the trust has been decreasing for more than 20 years. Doctors tell me they are greatly limited in what they may discuss and advise, and what treatments they may recommend or prescribe. As private practices went away and doctors must belong to larger networks, doctors now need to follow the approved protocol instead of using what they think is best. Basically, it sounds like pharma, insurance, and hospital protocols drive all doctors. A patient's interest comes after all those. It almost sounds like one needs to hire a professional patient advocate to get good care, sort of like hiring an attorney to handle an accident claim.

Of the ‘unchecked power’ as listed in the article that erj posted. . . “It ruled on whether you are essential or unessential in your work. It determined how many people you could have in your home. It decided whether you could go to public worship. It determined how long you should quarantine if you cross state lines. It decided that your schools, churches, community centers, playgrounds, and restaurants had to shut down. You could not collect rent on your properties. And it invented a piece of clothing – one that had no prior history in American culture outside of the mine shaft, construction site, or operating room – that had to be worn by everyone in public settings, even without real evidence that doing so would accomplish the goal.” . . .it is interesting and troubling (to me at least) that there is no mention of the heavy-handed tactics used by ‘government’ to coerce people into taking the covid vaccine to be able to retain their jobs, etc. There is no mention of ‘vaccine’ in the entire article. __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy."

Actually, that's kind of the idea behind a 'concierge practice'. They don't take insurance. The problem is, a lot of people have health insurance through their employment and can't really afford a 'concierge practice' out of pocket. If we could separate health insurance from employment that would do a lot to spur competition. You don't belong to a 'food club' sponsored by your employer, you go to a grocery store with after tax dollars. I think you get better value when individuals decide. "Some things are apparent.
