Was he in his warped mind trying to "help" by saving us taxpayers some money?

It should be fairly obvious even from a distance the difference between ICE agents and detainees, as they would be in restraints. Confused

Another leftist rocket surgeon. Naturally, there will be claims by the conspiracy theorists that this is a false flag operation and that the engraved ammunition found on the roof is a plant, and that the dead leftist on the roof is a patsy, but that stuff won't hold water.

Too bad the shooter is dead. It wold have been great to see his face when he was told that he missed the officers and killed detainees.

**edit**

Oh, it sounds like the shooter was on ground-level.

Wrong type of clip. Those are rimless cartridges.

Looks like 8mm Mauser. That makes it Nazi ammo.

But 7.62x54 would make it anti-fascist ammo. Amirite?

Does not look to be the right stripper clips for 8mm Mauser ammo. At least those for a Mauser 95 or 98 action, which basically all 8mm Mauser stripper-fed rifles would use.

Stripper clips have indexing "nubs" on the sides, to align them vertically in the stripper clip guide at the proper height for the type of rifle they're intended to be used with.

The shooter's stripper clip has two nubs that are close to the center:

Whereas the stripper clips for standard Mauser rifles use either 2 or 3 nubs, and in either case the outer two nubs are spaced closer to the ends.

The shooter's stripper clip are more reminiscent of something like the French MAS 36 or MAS 49, with its two central nubs.

Interesting. It does appear to be some type of Mauser carbine, potentially a K98k, though it's tough to make a final determination on the exact model based on the limited views in those photos.

So he may just have had the wrong stripper clips for that rifle. They likely would not have functioned well.

Given the sling attachment points and cartridges it looks like a common Kar98k.

Potentially, but there are a number of other Mauser carbines that use similar sling arrangements, stocks, and calibers, like the German/Czech G24t, German/Polish G29/40, Yugoslavian M48, FN Model 30, or Czech Vz98N.

There are also any number of Mauser 98 barreled actions that will fit into a K98k replacement stock.

We'll need more info to tell for sure.

Yeah. We are just guessing here but, I think we are on the right track. The ammo and the stripper clip looked very close to some surplus Argie stuff I had back in the day. However; the sling attachment points do lend to the potential of a Mauser possibly 98 series for a European contract. Not necessarily German. I’m leaning Yugo. Whether a Yugo rebuilt German K98(I forgot the model number)or an actual Yugo produced Mauser 98 style series.

Looks like had had a Tyvek suit to conceal his identity and weapon as he went to the roof.

Two mausers is an odd coincidence.
