Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

I am curious about the repeated story about the 3 million expulsions of migrants crossing the border illegally that occurred under the Biden administration. Leftist MSM reporting and propaganda? How was this possible when the CBP officers were held back from doing their duty? Just curious when I see the difficult the Trump Administration is having in the sanctuary cities and states.

From what I've read on the internet, they counted turn-backs as deportations. When someone was stopped at the border and immediately sent back or prevented from proceeding, it was a deportation. The actual number of illegals caught later within the country and deported was small.

Too much to paste here but it is an eye opener to see who is putting up the money. Including a lot of taxpayer money funneled through NGOs

Sooo, they're spending $115 Million to protest a parade that costs $45 Million? Seems legit. Roll Eyes

More likely it’s a plain lie.

I saw the "No Kings" protest today, or what little there was of it (that I could see). It was two guys standing quietly on a street corner holding hand-lettered, barely legible cardboard signs. If that was the extent of it ... Big Grin I'll know more when local news comes on. Update: they were apparently stragglers or outliers. A fairly substantial - but still peaceful - demonstration took place a few miles away. https://www.wjhl.com/news/loca...ty-no-kings-protest/ https://www.wjhl.com/news/loca...ross-the-tri-cities/ Also in Kingsport.

The thing you have to know about this area - Tennessee's 1st congressional district - is that this stuff typically doesn't fly. It has not elected a Dem representative since 1880, the counties comprising it voted as much as 80-20 for Trump, and you can't throw a rock in any direction without hitting a church. It has never had a history of slavery (terrain and soil not suited for plantation-style agriculture) and was also not on board with secession in the Civil War; it tried to secede back out. While there have been protests before, with one exception they were peaceful. The 2011 "occupy Wall Street" one broke up and went home after barely a day.

I doubt I will have any discussions about the “No kings” movement, but in some ways I can approve of it as a political motif. If someone were to try to engage me, I’d tell them that it’s better to have a king running things rather than a Fool (aka court jester) as the Democrats preferred since at least 2016.

We had one of those "No Kings" protests in the "city" next door today. We're a county of 75,000, and about 2-300 showed up. It was predominantly older hippies and younger people who appeared to be from somewhere on the LGBTQ spectrum, with a small representation of other demographics mixed in. They stood on the sidewalk and held their signs and flags, and probably would have quickly gotten bored and gone home had the small minded idiots not decided to show up and cause drama. That was when we got called.

First it was a group of kids with Trump flags who started shoving their way into the group, bumping people with their flag poles, and cussing at people. Then they climbed up on an outbuilding that is city property, so we made them leave.

Then there were some guys in trucks with Trump flags driving by yelling and revving their engines. That wasn't really a problem, but they kept circling the block and eventually started getting stupid and driving dangerously in traffic, failing to signal, cutting people off, etc, so they got pulled over and ended up parking their trucks and joining the counter-protest group on the sidewalk.

Then one of the liberals got mad that one of the Trump guys said mean things to her after she said mean things to him. She came over yelling with her eyes about bugging out of her face demanding that we do something. She got an education on the first amendment and we told them to stay away from each other. They both complied.

Then some very angry woman in a hooptie drove by way too fast screaming "Trump, Trump, Trump!", leaning out the window and flailing both of her arms like a maniac instead of holding onto the wheel. She almost rear-ended somebody at a stop light.

Then there was an older gentleman who came and talked to me for a bit. He told me he was a conservative and a big Trump fan, and said he used to write all kinds of letters to the editor about political issues back when he lived in New York State. That guy went over and walked that whole line of liberals talking to anyone who would listen, and seemed to be having quite a few good conversations. He was polite and cordial, as were they in return. I didn't witness a single problem between him and any of them.

I don't think we got a cross word from either side. Many of the liberals thanked us for being there, and several expressed concerns about what happened in Minnesota this morning, but said they felt it was important to show up anyway. Apart from the punk kids we threw out at the beginning, the Trump contingent was cordial and cooperative with us. And the old guy who just came to talk might be my new favorite person.

Nobody blocked traffic, nobody vandalized or threw anything, and the whole event was pretty mild overall. Our side caused more public order problems than they did. The local news was there, and they've already posted about the punks that were pushing and cussing at people. So the liberals got what they wanted. There would have been a one paragraph article that would have been very forgettable, but now there's drama. Sometimes it's better to just ignore the other side and let them fizzle out.

There were about 100 at the rally here. Close your eyes and imagine the people you’d think would be there. Military age males all with bandanas over their faces. Overweight males and females with orange/blue/pink/green hair. All shrieking Trumps a felon, orange man is a rapist, etc.

Very few cars with Kentucky tags though. It was pretty easy to tell it was all astroturfing. For a bunch that was protesting the government and government meddling, they picked the ONLY place in the county that it is impossible to get into or out of without hitting a LPR. “The man” knows exactly who showed up and when they left. Big Grin

Geniuses.

Most if not all of ours were locals. I saw one young adult male with a mask on the "No Kings" side, but he left while I was there and didn't cause any problems. I imagine the bigger cities are more likely an attractive target for the organized out of staters.

Someone on TV news today made a comment about the No Kings thing, to the effect of, “that’s fine. This ‘skirmish’ we had 250 years ago got us rid of a king in the first place.” Big Grin

God bless America.

Rioters storm ICE facility in Portland with incendiary devices, injuring officers

https://justthenews.com/govern..._campaign=newsletter

Rioters late Saturday stormed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Portland, Oregon, unleashing smoke bombs and firecrackers and injuring several federal officers before order was restored.

The Homeland Security Department decried the violence, vowing to bring every single perpetrator to justice.

"We will NOT be deterred by rioters’ intimidation and threats. ICE immigration enforcement will only ramp up," the department wrote on its X account. "The violent targeting of law enforcement in Portland, OR by lawless rioters is despicable and its leaders must call for it to end."

Meanwhile, protesters in Los Angeles caused hours of damage and mayhem before police called an unlawful assembly and imposed a curfew.

Tricia Mclaughlin, the chief spokesperson for Homeland, told Fox News that four officers were injured in Portland in the most serious and intense of the breaches on Saturday.

"Portland rioters are violently targeting federal law enforcement, and we won’t sit idly by and watch these cowards," McLaughlin said. "Our officers are facing a 413% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, rapists, and gang members.

She added: "If you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

s/prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law/shot/ and it will sound more like that Florida sheriff posted earlier. Probably not the right answer, but it might cut down on the rioting…

Didn’t a bunch of Omaha cops take a knee with protestors yesterday? And the brass, of course, applauded it?

They claimed it was “community engagement”. Gee, the protestors didn’t give up and go home due to the cops being their friends. I never saw that not working……

I didn’t see that. I’ll do some checking.
