He's never going to be a person worthy of civil discourse with me, ever.

It's one thing if you're a ignorant Jew hater, but damn to not care about four American hostages, and a dead American who's body is likey being desecrated just because they are Jewish is pretty damn petty.

OK, back to the actual discussion...

How bad ass is it to have a president that has some fucking balls and instead of providing food to Hamas says:

quote:
Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume Office as President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity. Those responsible will be hit harder than anybody has been hit in the long and storied History of the United States of America. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!"

How refreshing, and exactly what the world needs right now.

Fight, fight, fight!!!

hey its great but WTF on the actual words. hit harder than anybody has ever been hit? I'm a bit of a WW2 buff and that's the period I would consider for history. So we are going to nuke them like the japanese? Or maybe burn the whole area down or what like dresden. Or area bomb them? or? I get the value of such a message, but I personally think it would be more valuable if it really had a meaningful context of the penalty. just me though.

^^^ I think you're a little too hung up on his exact words. He is fond of and known for hyperbole at times. No, there won't be nukes or fire-bombing. But there will be hell to pay in one form or another.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a reenactment of the Carter/Reagan Iranian hostages release.

All this turmoil in the world today is because the world has viewed the US as being politically weak over the last 4 years. Now changes are coming and everyone knows what they are because Trump is a known variable. They remember the only president to visit North Korea, by walking across the boarder by himself and having a private chat with rocket boy.

People around the world are shitting themselves while trying to figure an exit strategy that will work.

I won’t pretend to know his mind and I understand he is occasionally hyperbolic, but there is more than one way to skin a cat. I’ve seen Trump approach and solve problems creatively before and firestorm rhetoric has produced results on the threat alone.

It's not like the ayatollahs refrain from extreme rhetoric. Trump is speaking to them in the language they understand.

I think it'll be like Iran when Reagan took over for the weakling Carter. US hostages / bodies released on Trump's watch not Biden's watch.

Israeli airstrike hits Sana'a, Hodeidah during Houthi leader's 'victory' speech

https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-835006

In the middle of a 'victory' speech by Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, Israeli airstrikes hit Sana'a and Hodeidah on Thursday.

The strikes targeted Sana'a International Airport's main runway, control tower, and aircraft. Images broadcast by Sky News Arabia show the airport damaged by fire.

According to Al Hadath, strikes also hit the Haziz power plant, the Hodeidah port, the power plant, and oil refineries.

Seven strikes were reported in Sana'a and three in Hodeidah, and dozens of aircraft were spotted in the air.

Sources confirmed to the Jerusalem Post that the IDF carried out the strikes with the United States' knowledge.

Al-Houthi was railing against the "failure" of Tel Aviv to challenge Yemen and said Israel had failed to obtain intelligence in the country right before the strikes hit.

Houthi spokesperson Mohammed Abdel Salam called the attack a "crime against the Yemeni people."

Ramping up the attack
These strikes come after persistent missile attacks on Tel Aviv, during which one missile impacted, causing damage and injuries to over 30 people.

Both the United States and Israel vowed to ramp up attacks on the Houthis, who began launching raids on trade flowing through the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea in "solidarity" with Hamas.

Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi has ordered the Air Force to begin upgrading its early detection and warning systems to prepare for possible attacks, such as those from ballistic missiles or drones.

"The attacks against the Houthis will continue as long as necessary, and each time, they will pay a heavier price," an official added. "This is much more significant than the previous strikes."

I don't know how widespread this is, but an excerpt from jpost published today:

"The Iranian economy is crumbling. The rial has become one of the world’s weakest currencies. Poverty and hunger abound, with food and medical production facilities shut down. Massive fuel shortages and power outages plague the country, with 17 electricity plants shut down. The presidential compound is blacked out. Businesses, schools, colleges, police stations, and government offices are shuttered."

The whole article is short and a good read. But I can't tell from that article how "bad" it really is country-wide for Iranians and their Govt, but based on the article, it looks like the balance of powers will continue shifting in Israel's favor, but I didn't get the impression the Iranian citizens are looking for any big changes or revolution for their own betterment. My guess is the situation in Iran is like other countries with oppressive governments, such as China, where their citizens don't like the Govt, but the price is too high to change things for the better, and the citizens prefer to go along to get along to maintain their station and way of life. It's understandable, that seems to be sop from a historical perspective.

I wonder how Trump will help Netanyahu without "getting involved". I know he will, but the way he will accomplish that is beyond my ability to understand. In any case I hope more, and that more will be better for both Israel and the US. I'm assuming he will let Netanyahu figure out what's best for Israel, that Trump will figure out what's best for the US, and they will remain close allies. If that's oversimplified that's about as much as I can make sense of.

Update: I just saw it is an "Opinion" piece. No wonder I confused myself, getting opinion and hard news mixed up in my head. Still educational for me.

Israel kills Hamas commander who led heinous Oct. 7 attack on kibbutz that left dozens dead

By Anna Young
Published Dec. 31, 2024, 5:30 p.m. ET

An elite Hamas commander who led one of the most horrific attacks on Israeli kibbutzim Oct. 7, 2023, was killed in a targeted strike in southern Gaza, the Israel Defense Force announced Tuesday.

Abd al-Hadi Sabah, the head of the terror group’s Nukhba platoon in Hamas’s West Khan Younis Battalion, was wiped out during an intelligence-based attack in a Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in Khan Younis, according to military officials.

Officials said measures were taken to minimize civilian harm during the operation, led by the IDF and the Israel Security Agency.

“The IDF and ISA will continue to operate against all of the terrorists who took part in the murderous October 7 massacre,” The IDF posted on X on Tuesday, along with a photo of Sabah in Israel during the terrorist attack.

Sabah was responsible for leading the invasion of Kibbutz Nir Oz, a community located fewer than 2 miles from the Gaza border fence and where dozens of civilians were murdered and scores more taken hostage, according to the IDF.

Hamas methodically burned all 250 cars at the kibbutz during the attack so that residents who weren’t immediately murdered or abducted couldn’t escape. Homes within the community, once considered a joyous paradise for nearly seven decades, were also destroyed.

Thirty-eight residents were killed and 75 kidnapped during the murderous rampage – leaving the kibbutz one of the communities most devastated by the terror attack...

This will get reported as Israelis striking humanitrian zones for no reason.
Just like the "hospitals", that are really hamas command centers.
