We were at a high end steak house the other night, the wife wanted me to order a bottle of Cabernet she picked out for $58. I expect a high bill from this place. Anyway, the bill comes and the wine was $205. I asked for the wine menu and he showed me the $58 was for a 9 oz pour Eek

Oh well, the wine was fantastic and the Mrs. was happy. No regerts

FUN FACT: Humans are Deuterostomes. (Look it up). This means that when they develop in the womb the anus develops before any other opening. Which basically means that at one point you (and I) were nothing but an asshole.

Sadly, some people never develop beyond this stage.

Well by the end of the day I will officially be a father-in-law. My daughter is getting married this evening with a service on the beach. Going to be a long day. Will be the first time in almost twenty years that all of our children will be together.

Shot a 94 in 20 mph winds at the golf course today. First time out. When I shoot an 88 I'm really on my game.

This is supposed to be a thread about nothing, this sure sounds like something. Congrats and enjoy!

The Mark I prototype was a complete success. Therefore, it obviously doesn't have enough features.

Parts on order to build a more complex, feature-rich prototype.

I saw a Porsche 959 on the road in a tiny town in North Carolina last week.

Oh, and I got to drive a sweet 2003 Corvette, too!

Pretty frickin’ cool. Cool

The Fall blend and Pumpkin Spice coffees are appearing in the local Safeway. Next sign of an approaching Autumn; Oktoberfest beer.

I start looking for it about Aug. 1.

I went to the store for bread, milk and coffee creamer this afternoon. And there it was, off to itself along a wall on a rack marked "Seasonal".

Been in Detroit for an hour and a half and witnessed no shootings. Haven’t heard a single gun shot.

Apparently, Gary Numan will be opening for the Psychedelic Furs at the Jack White Theatre in the Masonic Temple on 10/5/2025. Jack White is a Wayne State (less than a mile up the street) alumni along with Hellen Thomas, Tim Meadows, Tom Skerritt, Stephen M. Ross, and my dad.

Burritos should NOT contain rice.
For me, it's like the beans in chili thing. Authentic burritos don't have rice.

Rice is just a cheap filler. I've seen some places making them with more rice than meat.

Last year I put bluebonnet seeds in the front yard. The space is between the sidewalk and the street. The flowers just started blooming this week. Today the Gulagle fiber installers trampled my yard and parked the digging machine on the bluebonnets. Half of something was crushed to nothing. Oh well, some is more than none.

I talked to a friend (a generation older than me) from my previous job yesterday evening. She asked, "are your lilies coming up?" I went out front and had a look, and sure enough, I've got about a dozen clusters of Easter lilies sticking up 4" or so above the ground.

She brought me a clump of them at work about five years ago, and made me promise to plant them. And she asks me about them every Spring.

She's such a sweetheart. Smile
