Got it, Para.

So anyways, Hunter is finally indicted on something. Lying about his drug use when attempting to buy a gun. He'll probably squirm out of it, but it is ironic how the strengthened ATF/DOJ (ok, so I almost said 'weaponized') decided to go ahead with charges on Crazy Joe's sad little boy after all the enabling for them that happened under this administration.

^^^^Yeah, they finally charged him, as he certainly should've been--though long before now--but as Matt Gaetz said, "getting Hunter on the gun charge is like getting Jeffery Dahmer on littering."

We'll see what becomes of this, but we all know this is small fry. The serious, more consequential crimes are still out there blowing around in the wind.

On just the indicted charges, neither you or I would likely to see the inside of a jail, either.

Offense level will likely be a 12 or 10, less a two-level adjustment of acceptance of responsibility if he pleads. That's smack in the middle of the "Probation" range because unless I've missed it, Hunter has no prior convictions to push him "right" on the sentencing table, and none of the big-number offense level factors are present.

Some light reading:
Sentencing Guidelines 2K

Fun fact: You can steal a lot and still just get probation in the Fed system. You can lie a lot and still just get probation in the Fed system. It doesn't even require political interference, because the Sentencing Guidelines bake it all into the cake.

The tax charges, if/when they are filed, are the BIG numbers, because of (also) the USSG. The tax loss drives that guideline, and it's large.

The DOJ better hurry up & get this done. If they keep screwing around & dragging this out, Joe's going to be out of office, and won't be able to pardon Hunter of all the federal charges.

I want the cynicism to cease. You don't know any such thing. Stop trying to DEFEAT members of this forum.

That goes for all of you. Some of you think that nothing good can ever happen, and it's depressing as Hell and I'll tell you- it says something about you, and that something is not good, not in any way.

People who make such claims have no idea that they're already defeated and I don't want to be associated with anyone who surrenders before a battle is through.

How many times have I said such things to you guys? And yet, some of you keep posting this shit. Stop it. I DO NOT CARE whether or not you think my approach is naive. I am telling you- I will not tolerate this shit in this forum.

I remember hearing one of Biden's speeches where he says that he attendee catholic mass every Sunday and then attended services at a local black church. When he said his signature line "you think I'm joking, but it's true" he nearly burst out laughing. Sometimes his bull shit gets so absurd, even he has to laugh about it.

I was clear in my post to you and I've been quite clear about this matter in the scores of times I've told members the same thing. This is not something new. I have been consistent on this subject.

I run this forum. I set policy here. If you have a reading comprehension issue and you need things explained to you more than once, it is solely your problem.

This is not about opinions; it's about defeatist attitudes.

It's the pervasive attitude of this cynicism and defeatism that he does not like floating through his forum to the other members.

I saw a Twitter post by conservative pundit Jack Posobiec that raised a good point; what if the Democrats had planned for Joe to announce he’s not running for a second term by now but both Joe and Jill (way more Jill I think at this point) are refusing?

All these articles in the past few days by the MSM talking about how Biden is too old and questioning his mental state and even urging him to not run again are pretty telling.

I agree the swamp leftists including lefty media are closing in around him. They all know he’s crooked as hell. Now they are throwing Hunter under the bus. My bet is Hunter takes the felony and Joe pardons him while doing the LBJ speech I’m not running again.

I saw Dick Morris (usually...meh) mention that there is also one possible scenario where the dems let us waste all our time picking on Joe, then a last minute switch leaves little time to make the transition to the policy issues which are the point. Even if only a remote possibility I do agree more needs to be made on policy differences.

I think at this point we WANT the vegetable in chief to keep stumbling. If they swap Biden out for darn near anyone else aside from Kamala Harris, half the country is dumb enough/crazy enough to go along for the ride.

Hunter Biden investigation: Questions about Secret Service gun purchase cover-up resurface

https://www.washingtonexaminer...service-gun-purchase

Hunter Biden’s indictment this week on charges related to an alleged gun crime has resurfaced concerns about how law enforcement handled the incident in 2018 when it occurred.

The president’s son faces three federal charges for allegedly lying on paperwork he filled out to buy a firearm from a gun store in Delaware. On the purchase forms, Hunter Biden stated that he was not addicted to an illegal substance, even though he went on to detail how severely he was abusing drugs at that time in a 2021 memoir and in media interviews.

But in the immediate aftermath of the gun purchase and the bizarre manner in which Hunter Biden lost the weapon less than two weeks after buying it, Delaware police did nothing to punish him, and the Secret Service agents reportedly attempted to make the problem disappear.

Hunter Biden’s gun purchase turned into a debacle in October 2018 when Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter Biden’s late brother Beau, tossed the firearm into a dumpster outside a luxury food market after discovering the gun in Hunter Biden’s truck.

Hunter Biden and Hallie Biden were romantically involved at the time.

When Hunter Biden learned what his then-girlfriend had done, he ordered Hallie to return to the store and retrieve the gun; the firearm had disappeared when she did so just a few hours later, according to a Politico report in 2021.

That report said Hallie Biden notified the food market, whose general manager called Delaware police.

The disposal of the gun in the store’s dumpster raised additional alarms because the food market was located across the street from a high school.

Citing a police report, Politico noted that Hunter Biden attempted to shift the blame for the missing gun onto the “prolly [sic] illegal” Hispanic workers at the store.

But a troubling element of the report involved what Secret Service agents were doing at the same time that police were questioning Hunter Biden and Hallie Biden about the missing gun.

Unnamed sources said agents showed up at the gun store where Hunter Biden had purchased the firearm and demanded to take the purchase paperwork with them. The gun store owner reportedly refused to hand it over.

While neither Hunter Biden nor his father were Secret Service protectees at that time, Joe Biden reportedly maintained an unofficial working relationship with Secret Service agents stationed in Wilmington, Delaware, during those years between his vice presidency and his selection as the Democratic nominee for president.

Whether Joe Biden asked Secret Service agents to track down the gun paperwork, which is key to the federal charges Hunter Biden currently faces, will likely emerge as a topic of concern as Hunter Biden’s gun cases progress.

Unanswered questions also remain as to why Delaware police took no action on the case.

House Republicans expressed skepticism on Thursday, when special counsel David Weiss filed his indictment against Hunter Biden, that the charges represented a serious attempt to hold Hunter Biden accountable.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) noted that the gun offense is the only alleged crime of Hunter Biden’s in which Joe Biden cannot be implicated.

Secret Service or no, it's a predicament for ol' Hunter and any favoritism he may be apt to receive. If he skates on this, it illustrates that additional laws will be ineffective because they won't even enforce existing laws.

And if, as has been suggested, his lawyers invoke the Second Amendment- well, the hypocrisy will be visible to everyone.
