Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Grassley ain't Trump. Trumps strength and willpower and why he won the presidency are still lost on the hapless republicans.

NYT has reviewed the Kavanaugh 1982 calendar.

Why would the Kavanaugh team / Jud Comm let that out ?

Ford can tailor her tale to match his calendar. So far she hasn't been completely definitive even on the year.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/0...senate-calendar.html

"The calendar pages from June, July and August 1982, which were examined by The New York Times"

Ford has said she does not recall the specific date or location of the house where the alleged incident occurred.

She has said she believes it was during the summer of 1982, and she remembers wearing a bathing suit with other clothing on top of it, suggesting the party might have taken place after a swim outing at a local country club.

Another allegation where all the other people who the accuser said were there deny that the event took place.

I would love to see McConnell and Grassley announce that they are canceling the Thursday hearing and moving to a vote on Monday.

This is what needs to be done as it is patently transparent that all the Dimowits want to do is delay the confirmation with these spurious allegations so that Kavanaugh won't be seated for the new SCOTUS session which starts the first of October.

Yup. Cancel the hearing and confirm him. They can always try to impeach him later (which they have already said they will attempt to do).

LOL get out of here with that nonsense. My recollection has gaps because I was drunk. Now there is a freaking surprise...

I couldn't say for certain it was him a week ago, but after thinking about it for a few days I know it was him! Sure...you took some fish oil pills and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and it all came back to you.

They are hoping to delay the vote past the midterms where they hope to gain control of Congress - either launch investigations in the House or stop confirmations in the Senate.

The new accuser will start negotiating to appear before the committee. Of course, they can't do it Thursday a the scheduled hearing because it's not enough time to prepare and secure her family, etc. Maybe the week after. And then the Creepy Porn Lawyer's new client will come out of the woodwork and start negotiating for her appearance. And so on and so on.

They see that Dr. Ford's allegation is falling apart, so now it's all about volume. Put enough allegations out there so that there is a cloud of suspicion around Kavanaugh.

Sucks being right sometimes, doesn't it?

Nutshell recap with vulgar part deleted.

Senate Republicans press for a swift vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Senate Democrats are investigating a new allegation of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh. The claim dates to the 1983-84 academic school year, when Kavanaugh was a freshman at Yale University.

The allegation was conveyed to Democratic senators by a civil-rights lawyer. For Ramirez, the sudden attention has been unwelcome, and prompted difficult choices. She was at first hesitant to speak publicly, partly because her memories contained gaps because she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident. In her initial conversations with The New Yorker, she was reluctant to characterize Kavanaugh’s role in the alleged incident with certainty. After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, DELETED.

Ramirez is now calling for the F.B.I. to investigate Kavanaugh’s role in the incident. “I would think an F.B.I. investigation would be warranted,” she said.

The White House spokesperson Kerri Kupec said the Administration stood by Kavanaugh. “This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats designed to tear down a good man. This claim is denied by all who were said to be present and is wholly inconsistent with what many women and men who knew Judge Kavanaugh at the time in college say. The White House stands firmly behind Judge Kavanaugh.”

“We were sitting in a circle,” she said. “People would pick who drank.” Ramirez was chosen repeatedly, she said, and quickly became inebriated.

Later, she said, she was on the floor, foggy and slurring her words as that male student and another stood nearby...."

Enough with the politically correct posturing bullshit. Openly call her a liar; openly accuse the leftists for intentionally stalling. Stop the acquiescence to the stall tactic immediately.

I am sick and tired of the dishonest, obstructionist left.

I expect one more accuser by Thursday. Plenty of time. Their stories do not need to sound believable, they just need to keep telling thim. It's all about establishing a trend, not the truth.

What is interesting are 2 different allegations with foggy memories. Makes pinning down lies a little harder.

Which isn't so bad, in that the problem is political rather than legal or technical. The first accuser has played games with the schedule, "negotiating" rules, and what exactly she has to say. Now the second accuser had gaps in her memory because she'd been drinking, couldn't quite see who actually put his penis in her face, and specified that she inadvertently touched the guy's penis in shoving the guy away. We also know - from her - that at that point the incident ended.

IOW, the worst she can really say is that this was a drunken flashing at a college party.

So the question is...when does the bullshit become so transparent that even Flake, Collins and Murkowski begin to feel like they're being insulted, jerked around and publicly played for fools?
