Saying that we have literally just enough to control the House, and being satisfied with that, is shortsighted. Human beings get ill. They die. They become embroiled in scandal and are forced to resign. Our hold is tenuous. The greater the majority for us, the better.

These are the same reasons governor's races SHOULD be important to everyone, especially in states where the governor makes appointments to vacant Congressional seats between elections.

The other side gets this.

Former Alaska resident here.

Murkowski has proven over the years that she is shameless when it comes to her and her father's cronies (he used to be governor of Alaska) hitting the remote villages and making huge promises as if she could bring home the pork like Ted Stevens.

I'm surprised she isn't a full blown Democrat as she didn't get her own job until she was 53 years old. The first job she actually got on her own was in the 2010 election where she won the successful write-in campaign she won by 2010 votes with lots of irregularities (earlier in the year she lost the primary). Prior to that, Daddy got her every single job including appointing her as a US Senator in 2002.

Murkowski is playing some real dirty politics.

Her team pushed Alaska to go to ranked choice voting. That just passed Nov 2020 w 50.5 % of the vote.

this is the first election where Alaska will use ranked choice.

Then Murkowski endorsed the DEM Peltola running for the Alaska house seat versus Sarah Palin and Begich

in turn, DEM Peltola endorsed Murkowski

Why is that important ?

In the senate race it is

REP Murkowski w 43.3%
REP Tshibaka w 42.7%
DEM Chesbro w 10.3%

If no one gets 50% in this first round, then Chesbro is dropped out and the people who voted first choice for DEM Chesbro go to their second choice on the ranked ballot.

If the DEMs voted mostly first choice Chesbro, and second choice Murkowski, Murkowski will most likely win.

Ranked choice is really bad. Fight it if it ever gets to your state

RCV is used in some of the most leftist cities/counties, including New York, Cambridge, San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Minneapolis, etc.

Arizona Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Wright will not certify the 2022 election until she gets answers to the botched Maricopa County election fiasco.

quote:
“These complaints go beyond pure speculation, but include first-hand witness accounts that raise concerns regarding Maricopa’s lawful compliance with Arizona election law,” the assistant attorney general said in a letter to a top elections official, The Daily Mail reported.

“Arizonans deserve a full report and accounting of the myriad problems that occurred in relation to Maricopa County’s administration of the 2022 General Election,” she said in the letter to Thomas Liddy, civil division chief at the Maricopa County’s Attorney’s Office.

“As the canvass is looming, and these issues relate to Maricopa County’s ability to lawfully certify election results – the Unit requests a response to the aforementioned issues on or before Maricopa County submits its official canvass to the Secretary of State, which must occur on or before November 28, 2022,” she said

And Kari Lake insists she will be governor.

This is a little different "result"

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/...-committees-n2616208

incoming House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made a pledge to remove Democratic Representatives Ilhan Omar, Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell from their committee positions when Republicans assume majority power in January.

Omar is getting booted for her repeated anti-Semitism, which Democrats have failed to thoroughly condemn.

Swalwell is getting taken off of his assignments for being a national security risk after sleeping with a Chinese Communist Party spy named Fang-Fang.

Schiff's repeated witch hunts and abuse of his position as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee were cited as reasons for removal.

"You have Adam Schiff, who lied to the American public time and again – we will not allow him to be on the Intel Committee either,” McCarthy said

“One thing I said from the very beginning, Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector. Why would we ever give him a security clearance and the secrets to America? So I will not allow him to be on Intel,”

Wholly appropriate, and for Omar to be running her openly Jew-hating suck about this decision resulting from "Islamaphobia" is the apex of tone-deafness.

Swalwell was NOT dropped on his head. His fat melon was repeatedly slammed into a brick wall.

Blame ranked choice voting which is pissing off a lot of Alaskans now that those who voted for it are seeing its effects. It's also the reason the democrat Mary Peltola will be going to the House with less than 50% of the vote as well.

Well yeah, it's their damn stupid fault for being hoodwinked into it. So, shame on them, after all.
