Food is fairly good. Service is all over the map, depends of the individual waiter.

One thing that is perpetually annoying: one person takes the order and a different person brings the food and then proceeds to ask, "who had the <whatever>n?" Wouldn't it be really simple to mark the order slip with "seat 1, seat 2, etc.?"

In the late 1990s I went to culinary school which included quite an intensive course on being a waiter and this was always called “auctioning the food“ and was a big no-no in restaurants, other than basically diners and other quickserve places.

Over the past 10 or 20 years, though it seems like this has now become the standard even at mid and higher end restaurants where you have a waitstaff person or food runner who comes out and then proceeds to do the whole “who gets this? Who gets that?” routine. I hate it, it’s so unprofessional and annoying.

A good waitstaff should know exactly who gets what each and every time.

Personally, I’d take a plate of decent chicken and from a local diner over any woke chain trying to reinvent itself

Was an occasional visitor, when the mood struck. My biggest reason for going was the availability of niche beverages in the ice chest by the hostess station. It was the only place in NJ where I could have a bottle of Moxie.

My last visit was about a month ago, and it may be my last. Wife wanted to go there because it's a known quantity; she was hesitant about the other area offerings. She had the chicken & dumplings and was satisfied.

I made the mistake of ordering the steak, and what I got was a chunk of gristle with some trimmings still attached. Absolutely the worst cut of beef I've ever had the misfortune to try to eat.

When I complained to the manager, she couldn't have cared less. That, plus the extremely slow service, is a dealbreaker for me. I'll get my Moxie somewhere else.

I'm generally in that camp. I'm not wild about chain restaurants, regardless of the politics.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

This guy thinks they might get lucky, or even did it on purpose possibly.

If you've never watched the fat electrician I recommend you check out some of his normal material, which is war heroes and epic battles. This is overflow, interesting company and other stories channel.

A couple times a year I would get their biscuit and gravy with sausage patties and eggs.

Not bad except for the sausage patties. Chew like rubber and tastes like somebody spilled the liquid smoke in the batch.

So, is this rebranding sign kind of an intentional "New Coke" marketing ploy?
They have sure received a lot of free publicity in the process.

The thought had crossed my mind, and you know it has to have been kicked around in media circles that woke will get your name all over social media today, and maybe, if you are lucky DJT will chime in...

Although evidence of the pride page and some of the board members Wokoentology Worship backgrounds suggests otherwise.

Still, if they did it was a brilliant move to get millions of dollars of air time for zero money...

Heck they got 9 pages of exposure at SF, that's like $39.67 worth of marking money not spent! Big Grin

i think it nets out to nothing. Some people may want to see the new stores or get reminded cracker barrel still exists. Then there's people like me who won't purposely give my money to companies that have large emphasis on DEI. Maybe there's a bunch of purple haired transexual communists that get turned on by the idea of eating in a restaurant that spends money on their causes?

In the end only time will tell, but I bet you it will probably be taught in business classes. My assumption is brief uptick in sales then continuing on at whatever pace it was before.

CB should stick with the new style logo and change it's name to "The Barrel".

As in "tomorrow night is YOUR time in the barrel..."

That might draw in a large percentage of the "alphabet" group!

I hope they "find themselves" and get the issues sorted out, or Cracker is going to be wearing the barrel.
