I know - it's not a semi or even a large U-Haul truck. Still, one doesn't need THAT big of a truck to really cause damage.

Maybe he didn't think he could drive a bigger truck through city traffic and get to where he wanted to. Maybe he just wasn't that ambitious. . .

This just goes to show how utterly lame all these calls for more restrictions on guns are. Even without utilizing real firearms (and being from Florida, he should have been able to get some, IMO), he was able to bring one of the largest cities in the world to a temporary halt.

Yeah, you are correct that it's a Ford. I had never really looked closely at the pics before. Hard to tell from a quick glance because of all the damage.

I think that it's a Superduty, though (probably an F250). This assessment is based on the door handles and the "F#50" badge at the rear of the fender immediately below the hood. This badge is unique to the superduties (I think those door handles are, too).

F250

Well, I'm sure I'll be in a very small minority here, but this piece of crap was still a legal permanent resident of this country and hence should be afforded the same rights as anyone else.

Fine. Give him a fair trial in absentia tomorrow, then take him directly out and hang him.

We used drones to deliberately take out US citizens that were fighting for ISIS, and I think that was proper. And I think treating Sayfullo Saipov, a self-declared solder of ISIS, as an enemy combatant is proper too.

Foxnews.com is reporting the perp is happy about his rampage and is asking for an isis flag in his hospital room.

I'm actually sort of glad we got him alive. Listening to his rants and outright hatred of us and all we stand for will make our "get-tough-on-terror" stance even more convincing.

Ex parte Quirin<<<<<<<Google it. His intent was to do harm to the US at the behest of an enemy state (ISIS). As such, he fits the definition of an enemy combatant. President Trump isn't the first that has used this moniker. Our last two presidents did the same. Nothing new here. Guy is outside of the protections of our United States Constitution because of his declaration that it was for ISIS, at least that's how I see it Wink

Fine, hand him a flag right before pushing him into an active volcano.

He was caught in the act, admits the act, and aligns with a known enemy.

Every moment of incarceration and trials will be utterly pointless, in this case.

I read that bit about the flag earlier and thought "he knows he will be spending the rest of his life warm and dry getting three hots and a cot, and there isn't a dam thing anyone can do about it".

Fine, revoke his residency status. As I recall the Geneva Conventions they go into great detail what a "legal combatant"is. It follows that one can be an "Unlawful combatant" which discribed this terrorist.
"GCIV Article 5. In this case, the "unlawful combatant" does not have rights under the present Convention as granting them those rights would be prejudicial to the security of the concerned state."
GITMO is still open right?
