This is going to get interesting!

Seven years after Colorado voters legalized the adult use of cannabis, residents of Colorado’s biggest city might be on track to set another historic drug reform landmark. Next Tuesday, May 7, Denver residents will consider a measure that would decriminalize the adult use and possession of hallucinogenic psilocybin mushrooms within the city limits. If approved, the action would be the first of its kind in the United States.
Denverites will vote on Ordinance 301, the Psilocybin Mushroom Initiative, which would make the adult (21 and over) use and possession of psilocybin “the city’s lowest law-enforcement priority.” The initiative would also keep the city from criminally penalizing adults found with psychoactive mushrooms, and it would set up a policy review panel that would follow up to report on the ordinance’s effectiveness.

Will heroin and Fentanil soon follow?

These large metro areas should just go ahead and decriminalize criminals.

Let them fall into the abyss of serious larceny and violent crime. All the while claiming it’s “freedom”. The voters get what they deserve.

The liver donor list will skyrocket.

I completely agree with FenderBender. My body. The government needs to stay out of it. There are already laws against all of the negative consequences that can arise if someone gets out of hand. If you don't like drugs or think they are immoral, don't do them. Also don't infringe on the personal freedom of others to do things that don't affect you directly.

That’s the problem with the “freedom” crowd. They talk a good game, make a ton of excuse, usually pretty sarcastic (mmmmm drugs are bad) but personal responsibility ends with the choice of being able to smoke drain cleaner. Not what happens after you smoke drain cleaner. I think you should be able to smoke drain cleaner. And I think the first time you get out of line under the influence of drain cleaner you should be removed from society for a nickel. You know, personal responsibility and whatnot. (Cue the but, but, but alcohol argument)

I did a fair amount of schrooms and acid in my college days. Never had a "flashback" in my 60+ years. Not sure what that is? I'm not sure if decriminalizing these drugs are a good idea.

define "misuse"

Further, identify anything you may do exclusively on; as you call it "dope," that's not already illegal where said dope user might be injurious to someone else.

I'm not at all concerned about flashbacks; I'm way more worried about morons tripping balls piloting 2 ton battering rams around.

The phenomenon of visual hallucinations lingering has been clinically documented. With that said, it's one of the bits of hysteria that is often thrown out in these types of arguments. Having done extensive personal research in this area during high school and college , I can assure you that some visual effects can return days or weeks post indigestion. Slight movement of known stationary objects, busy patterns appearing to move, etc... These effects are sensationalized to equate somehow tripping all over again but they are not akin to being under the influence. It's not something that would cause a car crash or a freak out as suggested.
