My local FFL is in the Silencer Shop network. When I talked to him yesterday afternoon he said he would transfer anything from Silencer Shop with just a standard background check, everything else would be form 4 and fingerprints. I ordered my first suppressor from Silencer Shop last night, took about 2 minutes. We will see how long it takes to ship. Fun times!

Silencer Central’s email this morning announced South Dakota residents can purchase a can from their Sioux Falls showroom with just a 4473 and background check. SC is not a small shop, so it is good to see another business move on the ruling.

Worked for me at LGS; just got a YHM R9. Holding out hope for y'all in problem states.

I figured I would pick me up a Rugged Obsidian 9. I called most of the local gun stores and they are sold out of pretty much everything. SilencerShop is only 20 minutes from me and they have a store front. I knew it would be busy, but I did not expect the busy I witnessed. Vehicles parked along the highway and anywhere they could. The line to get in wrapped around the entire building. Being that people were standing in no shade and it was 109 with the heat index, I drove away. I will just do an online order and now the wait will probably be for dealers to get re-stocked. I can’t imagine how many suppressors have probably sold in the last two days.

Yeah, what's going on right now is hinky as hell. Some people in Texas can buy suppressors and SBRs over the counter, others have to go through the feds. Truly a mess.

The only way out of this clusterfuck is for the DOJ/ATF to come out and declassify suppressors, SBRs/SBS as Class III firearms, what I'm hoping for in the upcoming weeks.

@StorminNormin - thanks for the on the ground report. I thought something like those lines might happen. With Silencer Shop being a named plaintiff in the lawsuit, and giving themselves the green light to sell, that building is a pretty big key to getting orders filled nationally.

The suppressor I wanted showed in-stock with Silencer Shop so I went ahead and ordered it instead of waiting in that line. It has already been reserved and will now be transferred to a dealer close by where I will pick it up. The $200 tax stamp already went away but I just didn’t feel like adjusting my trust paperwork for the purchase so this will be nice. Worse case scenario if something happens and I do need to file, then I will do the trust. There are some dealers who are still choosing to require a Form 4 just in case I guess.

I'm in the same boat. I should be at the front of the line, ordered 20 minutes after midnight on the 13th. They emailed me serial numbers immediately. Just waiting for them to be shipped to my local Oklahoma dealer (who is going direct to 4473). If the gov shuts down the 4473 route I'll go back to Form 4 and my Trust.

That line is fantastic.

So, if the form 3 is considered a "birth certificate" is there or will the be an equivalent "death certificate" ? I assume the NFRTR will link to each 4473 so the IOI knows where it went? None of this really applies to me as my state must comply with NFA (form 4). And in Texas, correct me if I'm wrong, a valid LTC allows you to bypass the background check?

The form 2 filed by the holder of the 07 FFL is the birth certificate if you will, the form 3 is the first set of adoption papers before the final parent gets custody.

Basically, as Para said, the net result of this is that the only logical way for the DOJ and ATF to deal with this is to choose to not only go along with the court order about not enforcing the NFA as it pertains to SBR/SBR/suppressors, but extend that on a federal level to everyone. State laws are state laws, but there's no fair and practical way to say that this can only apply to GOA members and customers of blah blah blah - it's got to be everyone. Also, that extends further to all the purchases of suppressors in this time period ala California's Freedom Week a few years ago should there somehow be a rollback of this. I don't know how they could even logically extend this to SBR/SBS, the burden to prove a shotgun wasn't cut down or a rifle/pistol wasn't converted to an SBR unless it wasn't made prior to this time is absolutely immense. I could see them realistically having to extend an amnesty to basically everything made prior to last week. The last go-round with the braces required no photographic proof of the gun in braced configuration when I did mine. I don't know how they could realistically ask for photographic or video proof of a rifle or shotgun having been in "NFA configuration" during this time if it ends up being walked back.

Reminds me of the lines to a gun show in Denver just before the Federal “assault weapon,” etc., ban went into effect in 1994. Then as now, think of how much the general situation in this country would have been different if, as Dillon Precision once urged, every gun owner voted like a gun owner.
