As to the bogus fear mongering percentages:Confirmed cases in the US as of right now 43,022. Deaths attributed to this virus 530.

Wow. Those are some heavy numbers, according to the Media..

And EACH YEAR, around 650,000 Americans die from heart disease and over 450,000 Americans die each year from Medical screw ups, not to include the Opioid epidemic which takes 95 lives each DAY.

Not great. Our pc doc called with little more than wash your hands and understand the protocols if feeling sick.

I had questions -- blood type as risk for complications, hand sanitizer, chloroquine, others -- she dismissed them all in her classic bad bedside manner and said look to the CDC and WHO for answers. I brought up WHO's well documented covering for China early in the onset (C19 not communicable), she got her back up and suggested I go where the science is.

She's clearly sticking to the script, following the most basic directives and seemingly lazy, naive and incurious. She either doesn't have my blood type, won't give it to me or order tests to find out. I've dragged my feet finding a new pc doc for way too long. Not the best time to shop for a new doc but this one has outlived any minimal value she may have had. I'm steaming.

I saw where her mother passed away a few days ago. Her mind was already a mess, I'd imagine it's reaching critical mass today. I don't believe her "C19" is verified, it might be more appropriate for her to stew in her own juices for some time to come. As it is, she's an asset to no one and is her own worst enemy.

We are a small retail store and the dog is confined to her office area. She brings it in now and then as does my son who has an office for his business here. We don't let them wander so it should be a non issue.

A lot of places are letting liquor stores and pot distributors stay open as "essential" businesses--the thought is that folks trapped in their homes without their tobacco, alcohol, and pot will get deranged from withdrawal. (It could be so, but I don't have that problem--don't use any of it.)

In Australia, where sadly many binge on the sin tax items, there would be torches and pitch forks if the state or feds made that declarative statement.

When the Aussie non-essential services shutdown was announced, the local alcohol outlets were mobbed, in the fear that their favorite blanket would not be available.

Yes, we know that some deal with the day's fear and loathing with that comfortable wrapping.

On the flip side, heavy drinkers and smokers are taking another look at their activities and choosing to scale back, electing withdrawal better than the virus outcome.

Went to mass online this morning...
I have to say, it kind of sucked. It's not the same. Empty church, camera sucks, pastor slowed down too much.
One nice thing: I was able to get a second cup of coffee and cook omelets during mass.... Smile

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Wife and I are in our 60's but with no known health issues to start. We have a relative living with us temporarily with a three month old organ transplant. Catching anything at this point would be a major issue.
Zero income now but still have overhead on my one person business. The good news is, I work by myself anyway and can still do deferred projects, repairs and clean up a bit.
We live in a rural scenic county with only a couple of positives and holding. The problem is the city folks want to drive here for day trips to get out and are the most likely source of new cases. Firearms and very clean and lubed and well supplied.
Fortunately mortgage and car payment free so that's a great feeling.
Lots or acreage & outdoor stuff to do to keep busy right now.
The randomness of severity for us upper age folks, if/when we do get it, is our major concern. Otherwise we have it better than most.
Our dog has a couple months of food. Didn't want to have him make any tough decisions about us.

I have incurred the wrath of family and a few friends. I have avoided the news. I don’t read online articles on it.

It’s a flu. Yes it’s bad this year. But I am trying not to get wrapped up in the hype and hysteria the media is making this out to be.

Everyone I hear from locally is talking worst case. August and September. And then another resurgence. I personally think it’s all bullshit driven by the media.

Not playing their game. I work from home. I’ve been doing this social distancing for 5 years already. No big deal.

We are both retired. I'm on layoff from one part time job, the other place that I'm on call at is also closed down at least until the middle of next month. So plenty of time to get things done here. No grandkids during the day for the next couple of weeks at least.

Realized a long time ago that there are things we can control and things that control us. And to know the difference and deal with it.

But also knowing the difference between fresh oats and the ones that have been through the horse already. a.k.a. politics and politicians.

Going a little stir crazy.

Can't watch shows I would watch due to kids being in the house.

My attitude is turning into grumpy old ass.

But I am physically going to church this morning, and that might help.

Getting PITA chores done every day. Decided I'm going to turn the imprisonment into something positive.

Have to say I HAVE been buying more stuff online than I EVER do. Searched a bunch of sites for the best deals and bought a new impact wrench from Home Depot on sale. As well as FINALLY figured out what small parts I was missing to convert the Dillon 1050 over to .45 acp. And ordered them up.

And bought a Casio watch I have wanted for some time too.

Intending to finally gather up all the scrap lead and wheel weights I have been hoarding and smelt them all down into ingots. Then totally redo how I have my ton of lead stored in the garage.

Next will be to cast up a mess of bullets.

I have to admit that I broke down this evening.

I make my living selling to small businesses. Right before we sat down to dinner I saw the news conference that the shutdown was exited until April 30th. Even though I had a prime grade Ribeye, twice baked potato, sautéed mushrooms and Bordeaux in front of me, all I could do was push around my food. Then I started to breakdown, with my kids at the table, and I had to get up and walk away.

This shutdown will bankrupt many of my clients. People that have been my clients for 20 years. I do not think (hopefully) that it will bankrupt me, but things are going to be real lean for the foreseeable future. Depending on how long this continues, it might be real lean for many years.

I sit here and shake me head, unable to believe the world in which I live.

I’m sorry to hear that, man. You know my opinion on this fraud. Yesterday, Dave Ramsey said that the current stats were that we have lost 100 jobs for each case of the ‘rona. The damage to good people like you just is not right.
