We spend time working out and staying fit. Beyond that, I have almost mastered the art of licking myself without falling off the couch.

Michigan's governor is an ambitious, self serving pain in the ass. Watching my friends lose businesses because people 450 miles from here have the virus really pisses me off.

Yup, opening county by county, looking at the details of who was affected, population density, and physical size of said county would make more sense.

I can’t imagine these idiots who want to be the state that says “we had the least”, aren’t looking at numbers, they just aren’t looking at the RIGHT numbers at this point.

I saw yesterday that someone had a citation filed against her for opening early. I think she’s fighting it.

Just fine! Sitting in the middle of 20 acres of woods makes for a peaceful time. I do miss church and working the food ministry. I am still able to cut firewood for my wood ministry and the garden keeps me busy. I am getting a little antsy to hookup with some of my buddies.

Southwest still not giving refunds - there's $1600 I could really use right about now that I have as a credit. Fuck you SW - never again. Called and cancelled Shades of Green. No Disney this year. No unemployment relief either. Emergency fund running low.

This whole thing is such a joke. And people are still praising our stupid Governor for what a great job he is doing. Yea - great job putting people out of work while operating an unemployment agency running Windows 95 on an AOL 3.0 dial up connection. Great job arresting people for going to the park. What a guy!

I am getting angrier by the day.

As I said, I haven’t seen much discussion here about that, and therefore I’m curious: Am I the only one who wouldn’t like to lose 30% of my lung function or suffer any of the other serious effects that have been blamed on the disease? Or is all that considered to be so unlikely or because there’s nothing we can do to prevent it that there’s no sense even thinking about it?

I'm concerned. Honestly, it sounds like it has the (slim) potential to really suck. I have one of the health conditions that puts me in the high risk category.

For me though, what it comes down to is how long are you willing to put your life on hold because something bad might happen to you if you don't. I'm lucky to be an essential healthcare worker, so that part of my life hasn't changed at least. But weekends and evenings are totally wasted. I can't see the people I would like to see, I can't go the places I would like to go. I find myself still in bed at noon on weekends, because why bother getting out? Months of my life are being stolen from me right now over something that in the grand scheme of things isn't really much more dangerous than driving to the store.

I've done some thinking about this that I haven't seen anyone speak about in the news. There are 328 million people in the United States, give or take. Assuming a lifespan of 75 years, that is 364,000 collective LIFETIMES being stolen from Americans every single month of lockdown. That kind of puts it in perspective. To me, this disease would have to be orders of magnitude worse than even the worst projections to make this response worthwhile. I find myself thinking that if I was in the 80+ age range I don't necessarily have many months left anyway, and it makes me incredibly angry that those good months would be stolen away from me in order to save me.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Today's the day I hit corona overload. I no longer wish to hear another talking head whining about any part of it. I spent 13 years in uniform - working nights - and never worried about dying (at least until the shit was over). I saw people run to the grocery store and never come home because of a car crash. The fact that your loved one dies alone isn't different because of the virus: it pretty much sucks either way.

People die every day. Young people, old people makes no difference. I hate it when a 12 year old kid hangs himself in the garage. But I despise people who use death to persue their own agenda. Call me when it's over.
Rant off.

Gas prices are very reasonable now, which is great. . . . . But most stuff is closed up , so no where to go , ( roll eyes ) I actually considered driving half way to St. Louis for some ammo , for about an hour or so, but that notion went away. Will check the ad in a week though.

Latest COVID-related peeve....

Everyone with a public persona is coming out with their opinion on when to re-open he country. Super annoying. Most of you are not qualified or smart enough to have a valid opinion.

Zucker-twerp is the latest, warning us humans about the dangers of opening too early.

You know Mark, even if you weren't so totally biased and certainly more concerned about people staying at home and having more time on your Facebook platform and driving your stock price up, rather than concerned about people's health, Id put your "opinion" right there below the Magic 8-Ball, but higher (only barely) than a Ouija Board

My patients are strained to say the least. Told a lady to eat an ass yesterday at Chipolte when she decided to give me her opinion on me not wearing a stupid mask.
She was wearing one of those panty hose like spandex stretch masks that are pretty much see through. Roll Eyes

Found out that Menards & Costco are now requiring masks to enter. Not happy.

And now I find out through the grapevine that if I'm wearing a mask, carrying concealed is a felony.
I'll have to start searching our state laws for that one.

If you tell the Costco drone you have a medical condition that makes wearing a mask difficult they will let you in. Wink

Tucson dipshit Mayor is overjoyed over that. Stupid twit doesn't realize that small businesses in downtown Tucson are hit the hardest. Many who rely on College student customers and are closing shop for good.

Anyone have any recommendations for a face mask that is breathable and doesn't get too hot? Re-susable and washable. We now have to wear one at work and I work in a hot environment that is already hot and humid as is.

As a reminder, this is the title of this thread:
"How is everyone doing mentally/emotionally with the COVID situation?"

Is it now going to turn into just another litany of bitches about having to wear a mask and what type of masks others are wearing? Don’t we have enough of those in the original COVID-19 thread?

“ Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one’s own understanding without another’s guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one’s own mind without another’s guidance.”

I'm having a beer out on my deck in a few minutes. Optimistic that here in VA things may be coming back to some normalcy next week unless our Gov. just can't break marching to the beat of the Dem.'s drums.

We reside in a rural county. Reportedly there are ten confirmed cases and one COVID death (with underlying health issues) so far. That's the existent of what we know, its what we don't know that could prove to be nettlesome but why be fatalistic. The sun is going to come up in the morning and life goes on. Money wise we are secure. We have given to others that are in need. The governor here in North Carolina is a Democrat, thus not at all full of optimism.
