IMO, there are 3 "genders": masculine, feminine, and neuter--those are grammatical constructs and gender should not be used as a substitute for "sex". There are only 2 sexes: male and female, and all living organisms exist within only those 2 (although a few may have both).

I hadn't thought of it that way, but I agree. They are not men. I think they are males chromosomally though.

I struggle with knowing what is grammatically correct and speaking with common structure and vocabulary. I gave up years ago because defending correctness against ignorance became tedious. There is a line I won't cross, but I have relaxed on details. I say gender though I know it's sex, but I won't abandon gerunds nor the subjunctive tense.

If you follow golf at all, you may remember Anika Sorenstam. She DOMINATED the LPGA and wanted to play in a PGA event. She got crushed to the point of tears and admitted she could not compete against the men on courses set up for men.

And as a friend of mine once said, there are no bisexual men, you either suck dick or you don't.
