Kind of reminds me of Alaska's Senator Ted Stevens race for senator in 2008. Corruption charges were alleged close to election, his poll number went down and he lost. After election charges were dropped but it was too late then. His loss and Minnesota's multiple recounts until Franken won gave the democrats 60 seats in the senate with the blessing of McCain and Collins.

At this point the democrats picking up another senate seat will insure another Neil Gorsuch could never be put on SCOTUS in 2018 is the opportunity arises. Chucky Schumer would have to approve any picks.

Ted Stevens was indicted in August, and pushed for a speedy trial. The trial concluded in October with a guilty verdict. Stevens lost the election, but in the post trial process, the charges were dismissed before entry of judgment and sentencing.

The trial judge commissioned an independant investigation into prosecutorial irregularities and misconduct which led to Attorney General Holder moving to dismiss the charges “in the interests of justice.” One of the FBI agents participating in the case became a whistleblower, revealing very gross misconduct, failure, misleading the Court, games with witnesses, etc. The investigation report is over 500 pages, and is online.

Thanks for the details Jallen. I was going off of what I could remember. The facts you posted show the situation was even much worse than I remember.

I read that initial story on those allegations. That entire story was throwing up bullshit flags left and right. Also been hearing some rumors that someone from WaPo was calling around to women who were about that age living in that area offering money if they'd corroborate the story. But those are at best unconfirmed rumors. But given the salacious nature of the story, I'm not sure I'd put it past some outfit like WaPo or the NYT.

A new report indicates that one woman who accused Republican senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual misconduct worked for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.

AL.com reports that Deborah Gibson worked as a sign language interpreter for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, as well as previously working for Joe Biden through her company, “Signs of Excellence.”

Her Facebook page shows her posing smiling with Joe Biden, as well as standing in front of Clinton as a translator for her.

Gibson was one of the women quoted in the Washington Post’s Thursday report that alleges Moore pursued teen girls for inappropriate relationships when he was in at least in his thirties. She alleged that when she was 17, the 34-year-old Moore tried dating her, eventually kissing her.

Moore has denied the reports completely, saying they are “completely false” and the “very definition of fake news.”

The libs seemed pretty heavily invested in exploiting the initial shock of the allegations - look how fast the media started touting the tired old line that "the allegation is enough to disqualify the candidate!". So far, though, there just doesn't seem to be a clear impact. Perhaps we oughtta just wait and see whether the libs and the media can step up their game in a way that suggests this story poses more of a threat to Moore's candidacy. If they can't, then this is probably just a hypothetical tempest in a digital teapot.

There are things I don't like about Roy Moore, but I don't buy this BS for a second. I will be voting for him.

Local news radio show on Friday said that since this was a special election, called and set by the Governor, the Governor could postpone the election for any reason she deemed necessary.

It seems to me like the Democrats and RINOs both have a vested interest in stopping Bannon and it's playing out in this race.

Of course this all an unfortunate coincidence. I am sure the left and the rinos would love for Moore to be crucified.

Exactly. This is one more example of the Uniparty looking the American people straight in the eye and saying "You are not in charge. WE are".

I hope Bannon can find some good candidates to primary these assholes.

After all these years, why hasn't the GOP learned to play dirty like the Dems? I realize it's much harder with a Demokratic-led media, but there are now many alternate sources of news.

Yep. They would rather lose the seat than let another outsider win a race. That's why McConnell and Romney immediately said he should step aside without any facts. If the RINOs didn't start this it sure has their blessing.

In the so-called Watergate tapes, H.R. Bob Haldeman is overheard to say, in connection with some sort of tawdry bribe/money laundering scheme, “We’re too [expletive deleted] square. We’d get caught.”

Now I’m not sure whether we should try to change that or remain pure as the driven snow.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

You know, judicial activism, legislating from the bench - all that stuff.

There are plenty of reasons to think he is a poor choice for the Senate. Whoever said it above is right. Moore is a kook.

What law did he not like? Maybe he didn't like it because it wasn't in line with the constitution, in which case it would be called "doing his job." But without more details (Moore details Smile ), it's hard to judge whether it was judicial activism or not.

We apparently live in an era of judicial activism. Perhaps it would be nice to have one on our side for a change in the government.

This whole tale of sexual assault is beginning to unravel and the country is becoming tired of all the "me too" stories coming forward.

Unless someone can definitively prove Moore is guilty as charged, he has my vote over the commie democrat.
