Woke up this morning and still half asleep getting dressed, looked at the Nike swoosh t-shirt I had put on. Paused clearing the fog and thought bullshit. I just can't been seen wearing something that endorsed Kaepedick. Love my Ducks but the swoosh is gone. Cheers~

I have a pair of nike shoes that I will wear until they need to be tossed, but I won't throw them away until then (I have foot problems, so when I get a pair of shoes that fit well I can't afford to just chuck them). However, I will NOT buy nikes to replace these. There is a price to pay foor crapping on our values. Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher

This. They knew damn well what they were doing. The outrage and lost sales is worth it to them as the publicity value is enormous. In fact, they don't give a rat's ass about Kaepernick. He is simply as useful tool for them. See this from today's WSJ: Colin Kaepernick and Nike, Starring You and Me "Colin Kaepernick is the new face of Nike, and the country predictably lost its mind. Before we go anywhere, I think it’s essential to acknowledge that this freakout was 100% the intention. Whether you think Kaepernick-for-Nike is a brilliant idea, or a terrible one; whether you are offended, not so offended, or offended that other people are offended; whether you intend to buy Nike clothing in support of the move, or set fire to $180 Air Maxes atop a backyard pyre, know this: In every one of these actions, positive or negative, considered or rash, you are participating in a Nike marketing campaign." That being said, I hope this blows up in their face and they permanently lose lots of customers. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

BTW, this is also a brilliant scheme to get all that negative 'me too' publicity off the front page, that Nike has been having to deal with over the last 6 months. -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.-. --.- It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. WASHINGTON -- The National Association of Police Organizations is speaking out against the decision by Nike to include former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick in a new advertising campaign. It was announced this week that the ex-San Francisco 49ers player who is known for his role in starting players' anthem protests, would be the face of the campaign to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the "Just Do It" slogan. In response to the announcement, NAPO President Michael McHale penned a letter to Nike President and CEO Mark Parker condemning the decision. Below is the letter in its entirety: Dear Chairman Parker, On behalf of the more than 241,000 law enforcement officers represented by our Association across the country, I write to you to condemn in the strongest possible terms your selection of Colin Kaepernick for Nike’s “Just Do It” ad campaign. Mr. Kaepernick is known, not as a successful athlete, but as a shallow dilletante seeking to gain notoriety by disrespecting the flag for which so many Americans have fought and died. The inclusion of Mr. Kaepernick in Nike’s “Just Do It” ad campaign also perpetuates the falsehood that police are racist and aiming to use force against African Americans and persons of color. In reality, officers across the nation risk their lives not only protecting the athletes featured in Nike’s various campaigns, but also serve aspiring athletes across the country who use the Nike brand, through the thousands of Police Athletic Leagues, Boys and Girls Clubs and Big Brother/Big Sister programs where our officers donate their time and energy. They deserve to have the respect and full support of corporate citizens like Nike. Adding to the insult is the image of Mr. Kaepernick from the campaign featuring the quote “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” The fact that Mr. Kaepernick is no longer a starting NFL player does not equate to him being someone who has “sacrificed everything”. To truly understand what it means to “believe in something” and “sacrifice everything”, you should look to Arlington National Cemetery, or to the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial in Washington, D.C., or to the trauma unit of a military hospital. The brave men and women of every race and color buried there, memorialized there, healing there, believed in this nation and our flag and exemplify the true meaning of “sacrifice”. In featuring Mr. Kaepernick in the “Just Do It” campaign, Nike grossly insults the men and women who really do make sacrifices for the sake of our nation. We are calling on all our member officers, their families and friends to join in boycotting all Nike products. Sincerely, Michael McHale President Link: https://www.officer.com/comman...k-in-new-ad-campaign We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution. Just watched the founder of Barstool Sports on Tucker Carlson. He made a good case that it’s going to work out for Nike. He said the the videos of people burning shoes (and cutting the tops off socks) aren’t destroying new gear. Anyway, he convinced me that some old guys not buying Nike aren’t going to make any difference to Nike’s profits and that they’ll probably benefit because they’ll be viewed as “edgier.” _______________________________________________________ despite them

Sorry, but I don't think ANY company should be pleased by people DESTROYING their products. It's one thing to say you won't make a future purchase; it's quite another to see this demonstration of resolve by people committed to never buying the product again after making previous purchases. . . Nike must think that 8-year olds go out and buy their own gear. Well Nike, that doesn't happen. PARENTS are the ones footing the bill and if I personally had a household full of kids needing sports apparel, Nike would now be THE last place I'd look. My kids would wear Chinese Walmart junk before I bought Nike. As I've said in previous threads on the subject, I'll be looking elsewhere for all my future tennis apparel. Anything that's in my closet right now is "sunk cost" and Nike has already realized the income and profits on those purchases...makes no sense to burn it. All I can do going forward is flip them the bird and buy New Balance or Asics. "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. College of the Ozarks Drops Nike over Kaepernick Ad Campaign A college in Missouri has decided to “choose its country over company,” and do away with all athletic uniforms which display the Nike logo. The College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri, has chosen to part ways with Nike over the company’s decision to make anthem protester Colin Kaepernick, the face of their new ad campaign. “In their new ad campaign, we believe Nike executives are promoting an attitude of division and disrespect toward America,” College of the Ozarks President Jerry C. Davis explained. “If Nike is ashamed of America, we are ashamed of them. We also believe that those who know what sacrifice is all about are more likely to be wearing a military uniform than an athletic uniform.” This is not the first time the small private Christian college has taken a stand on the anthem issue. In October of 2017, the school made it a policy that all coaches and players had to show respect for the anthem. According to KMBC: Dr. Marci Linson, vice president of patriotic activities and dean of admissions at the college, oversees patriotic activities and safeguards the college’s patriotic goal: to encourage an understanding of American heritage, civic responsibilities, love of country and willingness to defend it. ‘Nike is free to campaign as it sees fit, as the college is free, and honor-bound by its mission and goals, to ensure that it respects our country and those who truly served and sacrificed,’ Linson said. NBC plans to air the first commercial of Kaepernick’s new ad campaign on Thursday night, during the NFL season opener. https://www.breitbart.com/spor...pernick-ad-campaign/ Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.

That's not where their money is being made. We're a generation-in where a chunk of the population regards Nike as a classic streetwear brand, much of this is due to athletes and celebrities who have promoted this culture. The market for Nike is not sporting good stores or, getting Jimmy a pair of gym shoes. The market is the urban consumer who wears AND collects the re-released/retro styles, the sneaker-head, the athletic wear fashionista who seeks out the limited editions and co-labs. Europe and Japan is eating this stuff-up as their younger generations are seeking-out American streetwear fashions. Getting placed in Eastbay and Dick's is small potatos, today it's all about getting publicity on Hypebeast. Urban streetwear boutiques like Undefeated, Hundreds, Juice, Concepts, and Wish is where Nike is making its money and, the audience that this whole Kaepernick campaign is appealing to.

A few slight corrections for accuracy. The NIKE brand has indeed moved from American families to the lowest common denominator in society today. At my age, I'm neither rapper wannabee or athlete, so I'll stick with several pairs of my cost effective Skechers. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Just saw a news article that had the entire new ad. The clip had that spooge Kaepernick strutting and spouting nonsense. I have not yelled at my screen in a long time, but I yelled at that. If this is where Nike wants to go, well....reap what you sow, bitches. I bought some Nike golf shoes a couple of months ago. I will not be burning them, but I will also never be buying anything with the stupid swoosh on it again. And this quote from above from the College of The Ozarks bears repeating...

And that's where Nike will make all its money. I wasn't thinking globally, so Europe and Japan will keep Nike going, as they don't GAS about America. Nike MIGHT lose some market share in the U.S., but globally they'll be juuuust fine. Thanks for pointing out the overseas market... "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. from an earlier post: Colin Kaepernick, 21 April 2018, Amsterdam: “As police officers continue to terrorize black and brown communities, abusing their power, and then hiding behind their blue wall of silence, and laws that allow for them to kill us with virtual impunity, I have realized that our love, that sometimes manifests as black rage, is a beautiful form of defiance against a system that seeks to suppress our humanity. A system that wants us to hate ourselves.” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx My small protest gesture will be to write stores that sell Nike products and ask if that is their position also. I will also write President Trump and suggest that he asks the major stores that sell Nike products if that is their position. I hope that Nike puts large posters of Kaepernick in these stores as part of their advertisement. Maybe a President Trump tweet should ask Nike if that quote is what they support. I don't think this has much to do w selling shoes. This is part of the all out attack on Donald Trump and his administration's agenda.

The "system" (which, one suspects, is code for "the man") doesn't need to convince you to hate yourselves. Many of you are doing a fine job of that all on your own, with no outside encouragement at all "America is at that awkward stage.
