Looks like it is true that ford weighed in on the subject. Link to article Ford respects the right of players to protest. Why even get involved in such a volatile subject? Dumb move. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Ford did weigh in last week and also specifically criticized President Trump's statements on the subject. https://thegrio.com/2018/09/06...ng-police-brutality/ Ford steps up to support NFL players protesting police brutality On Monday, the Ford Motor Company, which owns the Detroit Lions, took a stand and pushed back on President Donald Trump’s divisive rhetoric against NFL players who protest. “We respect individuals’ rights to express their views, even if they are not ones we share,” the company said on Monday. “That’s part of what makes America great.” The company made the announcement after Trump on Friday urged people to protest the NFL and said owners should fire players who decide to kneel during the national anthem, CNN reports. Ford has a heavy stake in the NFL with team ownership and last year entered into a three-year agreement making the Ford F-Series the league’s official truck. The NFL has said it would not penalize players who refuse to take the field during the national anthem. Martha Firestone Ford, owner and chairwoman of the Detroit Lions and a member of the Ford family, fired back at Trump for his divisive comments. “Our game has long provided a powerful platform for dialogue and positive change in many communities throughout our nation,” she said. “Negative and disrespectful comments suggesting otherwise are contrary to the founding principles of our country, and we do not support those comments or opinions.” Ford also owns the naming rights to the Ford Field in Detroit. Missing the whole point, on Sunday, Trump encouraged fans to protest. “Sports fans should never condone players that do not stand proud for their National Anthem or their Country,” he tweeted on Sunday. “If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our country, you will see change take place fast,” he tweeted. Trump continued his stream of lies saying his constant attacks aren’t racially motivated. “The issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race. It is about respect for our Country, Flag and National Anthem. NFL must respect this!” Trump said in another tweet. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that “divisive comments… demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL.” “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

Sorry, Roger, but I respect the Constitution and the rule of law, symbolized by the flag. I respect our men and women in uniform who "risk everything" to defend my freedom. I do not have any respect for what the NFL has become. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Hey, Roger? Why in hell would I "respect" the NFL? For the hype, greed and disrespect your overpaid entertainers show our country? Go fuck yourself, Goodell! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I’m hearing that Nike’s sales are up two weeks before school starts. Shocked! I’m shocked, I tell you! Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

Does this seem unlikely to anybody else? For sales to jump by 31 percent in a week, either somebody's buying a metric crapton of Nike gear or their sales were abysmally anaemic beforehand.
Hmmm... Ok. I guess...
Wow. Lessee: I do not and never have watched throwing eggball. I can't recall if I ever bought any Nike anything. (Maybe a pair or two of sneakers, long ago?) I do not care for Ford products, and never much have. What're the odds? "America is at that awkward stage. Ah, Goodell, the retard's retard. Hey Roger, who should I respect? The wife beaters? The continual DUI offenders? How about the guys arrested on weapons charges? Or the guys arrested for theft? And as for respecting Roger, I respect a Little Debbie snack cake more than I respect a man totally and completely devoid of an ethics, morals, or character. Respect is earned, not given, and there darn sure is no reason I see to respect anyone or anything associated with the NFL. The NFL is in a death spiral, and I only hope all this nonsense hastens its demise. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. ensigmatic, I believe you’ve missed my sarcasm. Let me explain. Nike does this social justice thing. World goes nuts. Media points to weekly increase in sales of 31%. Week mentioned happens to be when Mom’s all over are back-to-school shopping. IOW, tell me what that week’s increase was relative to last year same week. Is it 31% up year over year? I’ll bet the week to week increase is unrelated to the recent publicity, but coincides with the back to school shopping season. Besides, even if it wasn’t related to back to school, it was online orders only. It ignores the fact that the people most likely to be pissed are more likely to shop in stores. I, too, can respect their right to their opinion and their actions, but I retain my right to ostracize, shun, and denounce them, and refuse to accept their actions as laudable. I don't watch football (never have) so I can do no more than that. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Respect the NFL? Really? And what, exactly, is it that they do that garners respect? Fuck you, Goodell, and fuck the NFL. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

This. I did watch up until the early 80's when bad behavior became too regular. I haven't watched since. I am not motivated to respect someone who does not respect me. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

That sentiment is at the heart of the backlash against the NFL. By supporting thuggish, disrespectful behavior the NFL has shown that it is not worthy of respect. "Some things are apparent. New Balance Athletics, Inc. (NB), best known as simply New Balance, is an American multinational corporation based in the Boston, Massachusetts area. The company was founded in 1906 as the "New Balance Arch Support Company" and is one of the world's major sports footwear manufacturers. New Balance maintains a manufacturing presence in the United States, as well as in the United Kingdom for the European market, where they produce some of their most popular models such as the 990 model—in contrast to its competitors, which often manufacture exclusively outside the USA and Europe. As a result, New Balance shoes tend to be more expensive than those of many other manufacturers. To offset this pricing difference, New Balance claims to differentiate their products with technical features, such as blended gel inserts, heel counters and a greater selection of sizes, particularly for very narrow and/or very wide widths. The company has made total profits of approximately $69 billion since 1992. Last April the BBC screened the last of their fascinating 'Inside the factory' series with Masterchef maven Greg Wallace... Quote - In the last episode of the series Gregg Wallace joins a human production line in New Balance’s sports shoe factory in Cumbria - the largest in the UK - to see how they produce 3,500 pairs of trainers every 24 hours, by sewing 32 million individual stitches and using 140 miles of thread. Gregg will make his own pair of shoes and discover how they put together 27 different pieces made from eight different materials, which require auto and manual stitching and finishing with a ‘roughening’ robot and a hot oven. He’ll also meet the man who comes up with new designs, including trainers inspired by the three most popular pub names in England.
