Somehow they think it will make them more hip and more relevant now albeit taking a hit now (financially) at least to some nimrod I saw on Fox Business Network.
Hell, everyone is playing it and talking about it.
I guess no publicity is worse than bad publicity.
They did just jettison a bunch of customers but I think they had that in their plan anyway.

I won’t watch the NFL and won’t buy Nike sports equipment. They just lost a fan and his family.

The NFL has a contract w Nike for jerseys.

That contract expires in 2020.

In Mar 2018, the NFL signed a new contract w Nike that will run thru 2028.

Nike will set up all 32 teams with game-day uniforms and sideline apparel that bears the swoosh logo.

"Nike has been a long-time and trusted partner of NFL and we're thrilled to extend our relationship with them," said Brian Rolapp, the NFL's chief media and business officer.

With this deal, Nike solidifies its role as the official game-day uniform supplier for both the NFL and the NBA.

Nike landed the rights to the NBA's uniforms starting with the 2017-2018 season. But, Nike hit a rough patch when its uniforms started falling apart in spectacular fashion, and the situation went viral.

Financial details of the NFL deal weren't released, but the deal with the NBA was worth a reported $1 billion for eight years.

I wonder how happy the NFL is about the Kaepernick situation being brought to the news once again.

A LE organization I belong to (45,000+ members nationwide) has sent a letter to NIKE condemning their decision to use this monkey in its advertising.

I would encourage members here to send letters to NIKE. While you're at it, send a letter to LEVI STRAUSS for it's anti 2A stand.

If people would mind their own damn business this country would be better off. I owe no one an explanation or an apology for my personal opinion.

College of the Ozarks Drops Nike over Kaepernick Ad Campaign

A college in Missouri has decided to “choose its country over company,” and do away with all athletic uniforms which display the Nike logo.
The College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri, has chosen to part ways with Nike over the company’s decision to make anthem protester Colin Kaepernick, the face of their new ad campaign.

“In their new ad campaign, we believe Nike executives are promoting an attitude of division and disrespect toward America,” College of the Ozarks President Jerry C. Davis explained.

“If Nike is ashamed of America, we are ashamed of them. We also believe that those who know what sacrifice is all about are more likely to be wearing a military uniform than an athletic uniform.”

This is not the first time the small private Christian college has taken a stand on the anthem issue. In October of 2017, the school made it a policy that all coaches and players had to show respect for the anthem.

According to KMBC:

Dr. Marci Linson, vice president of patriotic activities and dean of admissions at the college, oversees patriotic activities and safeguards the college’s patriotic goal: to encourage an understanding of American heritage, civic responsibilities, love of country and willingness to defend it.

‘Nike is free to campaign as it sees fit, as the college is free, and honor-bound by its mission and goals, to ensure that it respects our country and those who truly served and sacrificed,’ Linson said.

NBC plans to air the first commercial of Kaepernick’s new ad campaign on Thursday night, during the NFL season opener.

It may not move the needle much at Nike, but I'm proud of C of O for their action.

Didn't watch a single game last year. Not even the superbowl. Didn't miss it.
NO intention of watching any this season, and sure as hell will not be buying anything from nike.

Hockey. Most of the time you get TWO National Anthems.

If a Canadian team plays here in the US, the rink plays both our National Anthem, AND theirs.
Just like ours, depending on the local singer, Oh Canada can be really beautiful.
If you go to a game up there, it is usually in French, which I can't understand, BUT beer is the same in any language, and there is nothing funnier than a drunk Canadian, unless his team is losing.

Watching the band try to march on the ice at NHL half time show is a treat.

I bet watching ten guys flying around in the middle of the second period trying to get past the band and score would be bad ass.

Nike totally sucks. I don't own any of their products, never will, but if I did I would burn everything. For a company to stand behind a piece of shit who disrespects the flag is a big mistake. I hope they suffer big time, and people stop buying their garbage.

I run in the 880s, made in Viet Nam. I left Nike for New Balance right after the election, it was more pro NB than anti-Nike at the time. Here's why:
