actually, there are more individual bets on mcgregor but a good bit more money on floyd. just not enough to outweigh the odds. that's what happens when you have a bunch of people irrationally betting on a sure loser like mcgregor. sure, if he wins, they'll be hurting. but he has basically no chance.

Of course, people that think all Mayweather fights are boring are a mystery to me. He's one of the top 5 greatest boxers of all time. Extremely fast hands, even though they aren't as fast as they were when he was smaller. He's a counter puncher, just like BHop, like Ali became, like Sugar Ray Robinson. Seems many people think if you're not charging forward all the time, you're boring.

They don't know boxing and aren't boxing fans. They are fight fans.

I like a fighter like Lemieux as much as the next guy, but I also like Mayweather.

I'm not a big MMA fan, but I do enjoy watching this one:

That has to be one of the funniest knock outs ever! Even better than when Chris Weidman clocked Anderson Silva. Big Grin

I would enjoy McGregor being the "1" in 49-1.

correct. I grew up loving boxing. I can be very happy with Gatti-Ward or Rios-Alvorado and I can be just as happy watching Mayweather pick apart a promising young Canelo Alvarez (who just happens to be in what is likely to be the best fight of the year on 9/16 against GGG.)

Moving forward has nothing to do with being exciting. Fighting safe, while good for your longevity is very boring. Never taking any chances in exchanges makes for a boring fighter, which is Maywether to a tee.

I spent some time watching McGregor videos this evening and I'm not sure he's Going down to Mayweather. He has a wicked fast left and what looks to me to be a good sense of timing.

The fight will hinge on his outlasting Mayweather, while scoring just enough to win a split decision, assuming he doesn't land a tree felling shot to Mayweather's head.

His timing is excellent. He's going to be much larger than Floyd. He's a great counter puncher (by MMA standards). He hits HARD. I give him a much better chance than most here are.

As a big fan of boxing and MMA - McGregor cannot win a decision - he will need to KO Money in the first 5-6 rounds - no easy task.

If Mayweather can survive what will surely be an aggressive early onslaught from McGregor - he should be able to outpoint him for a decision.

It's there for anyone to see. The biggest issues for Floyd are going to be: Left hand with lots of power and plenty of speed with very good timing backed by a guy that has a very good head on his shoulders. Conor will likely be walking around at 170-175 pounds on fight night compared to Floyd's 155ish. Boxers aren't used to picking up extra weight after a weigh in, whereas MMA fighters do it all the time. 15-20 lbs will make for a lot more mass for Mayweather to deal with.

So many people are putting McGregor down for the count before the fight even begins which is sad. To believe that the guy doesn't even have a punchers chance is crazy.

I'm looking for gladiatorial battles, or the closest we have that are voluntary and sane.

Epic ass kickings with minimal rules.

War-ish. More options regarding offense and defense. More like real fights.

Boxing is Rated PG/PG13 fighting. College wresting is Rated G fighting. MMA and life are NC17/R. So to speak.

Different strokes.

I've watched tons of Boxing over the years, too. But I usually find it boring by comparison.

Boxing is 2 dimensional on it's best day. MMA is 3D-Max all the time. Imagine the best boxers in history trying to punch while defending a takedown or leg kicks. For folks that don't watch MMA (admittedly I haven't even watched one for probably 6-7 years) the UFC sets up fights with contradictory styles of fighters (boxing vs bjj vs wrestling vs whatever ninja skill you can have). The great fighters have an area of expertise but are well versed in all aspects of the fight. They often train to their weaknesses, and I have no doubt Conor has been tirelessly working on his boxing skills leading up to this fight.

Well duh. It's a boxing match after all.

I don't think he's been working on his Karate Kid Crane Kick.

Read a report (forget where) that Mayweather has been spending a lot of time this week in strip clubs. Just another reason I hope this overconfident shitbird gets his ass handed to him.

I'd love a McGregor win but I don't see it happening. There's always the punchers chance but I don't think he'll catch Floyd napping. He needs to use his weight and his lefty stance and come at odd angles. Fighting a little dirty to frustrate Floyd and maybe make him lose discipline and leave an opening. If the punchers chance doesn't come early it ain't coming. McGregor was gassed when he lost to Diaz. The reports of Floyd being out to all hours are interesting. Multiple ix and seven figure bets on Floyd came into today. It's buying money.

Another observation about McGregor: he is very aware of the mental state of his opponent.

If you watch carefully, whenever he scores a near knockout and his opponent goes down, he's right in there to finish the guy off, but as he's coming in for the coup d'grace, he realizes the other fighter is gone and eases off even before the ref intervenes. All in a split second. That shows me he has a fast mind, in addition to fast punching.

I'd rather watch paint dry than a boxing match.

That said; I'd imagine Mr. McGregor hits considerably harder than whatever woman Floyd has been beating on this week.

In the bought and paid for world of boxing, Mayweather wins by decision.

In MMA, Connor would yard that melon farmer so fast, you'd think Floyd was tapping out the unedited version of War and Peace in Morse code.
