Then they should have let him get knocked the f out.

$740,000,000? And nobody even hit the mat? Stop the fight because somebody got too tired to keep on?

This baffles me.

It is to protect him from brain damage. Mayweather was hitting his head at will.

For a measly 10 million I'll get in the ring with both of them, and laugh all the way to the bank afterwards. They've about a half billion reasons between them to be pleased as punch.

If you would have liked to see McGregor knocked out, it's probably because it would not be your brain taking that abuse. His hands were down, he was standing flat footed, bent over-- a perfect setup for a flurry of devastating punches to the head.

He could not protect himself = stop the fight according to the precedents of boxing. It was a good stoppage. The fight was over.

You would stand a better than equal chance of laughing all the way to the concussion/brain damage/drooling idiot ward of the local hospital or to the morgue. Pro fighters know how to take a punch and even then most of them wind up with permanant damage.

Really? People paid $100 to watch THAT?

I'd be fuming if I'd paid that much to see some tap dancing. Let sumbitch A knock out sumbitch B. They are getting paid multiple millions of dollars for THAT? Nuts.

Tied? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Good one.

I would've loved to see McGregor on his back, though, and feel pretty certain it would've happened in the next 10-15 seconds.

I have to wonder, was the fact that they had to put up a 40 year old boxer vs. a talented, but non-boxer UFC fighter, a sign that the 'end is nigh' for professional boxing?

While UFC is selling PPV pretty consistently*, what was the last boxing match that had this kind of appeal? (Mayweather/Pacquiao?)

* This gravy train could end quickly if Dana does not get his house in order. (PED's related)

It all depends on who is fighting, both in boxing and UFC. If the big names are fighting, boxing still does just as well or better than UFC. Mayweather vs Canelo had 2.2 million in 2015. Canelo vs Chavez Jr had 1.3 million buys last year. Canelo is a big name but Chavez really isn't anymore (except to Mexicans.) How many UFC PPV events have gone over 1.3 million? 2 according to THIS LINK, both right at 1.3, both starring McGregor, UFC's unequivocally most popular fighter. UFC has routinely been under a million unless McGregor or Rousey was fighting. Before them, the lats one with a million buys was a Silva fight in 2013. Before than a Lesnar fight in 2010.

Klitscho vs Joshua (Klitscho is old and probably the most boring heavyweight champ ever. Joshua is almost unheard of in the US, even to a big boxing fan. It sold over 1.5 million in England, plus had millions of viewers in Germany, Poland and the US. https://www.balls.ie/newsnow/j...o-ppv-numbers-364219

Canelo vs GGG in 2 weeks will almost definitely sell north of 2 million PPV buys.

I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

Canelo v Golovkin ought to sell well. That fight has been due for a couple of years.

Mayweather gets political

Mayweather Gets Political: Disses Leftist Protesters, Ungrateful Immigrants

Floyd Mayweather Jr. waxed political in a Monday-published interview with Hollywood Unlocked.

The undefeated professional boxer noted that Donald Trump was suddenly framed as a “racist” by news media outlets upon announcing his presidential campaign and subsequently winning the White House:

I think a lot, within this world, like I said, racism still exists. You never heard anything about Donald Trump being racist until he ran for president and won. Before that, everyone was like, “Oh, he on WWE. He on different shows." Everybody, they liked Donald Trump. As soon as he ran for president, because, people don’t like the truth.

Mayweather also dismissed news media apoplexy over the released Access Hollywood ("grab her by the p****") tape:

He speak like a real man spoke. Real man speak, like, “Man, she had a fat a**. Did you see that a**? I had to squeeze her a**. I had to grab that fat a**.” Right?

So, he talkin’ locker room talk. You know what I’m sayin’? “I’m the man. You know me, I grabbed her by the p****. And?”

I feel people shy away from realness. This man didn’t do nothin’. Hey, listen. If y’all didn’t want the man in the White House, y’all should’ve voted the other way. He didn’t rob, he done his homework. He done what he had to do and he got there. I’m not here to knock nobody.

Mayweather advised people to focus more on improving their own lives than on peripheral issues:

My thing is this, it don’t matter who’s in there. If Trump is in there, Clinton, Barack Obama, it doesn’t matter; that’s not gonna stop my drive. See, the thing is this: too many people are worried about what Trump is doing and what other presidents are doing instead of worrying about what you’re trying to do and what level you’re trying to get to. See, my thing, I don’t give a f*** what nobody else doin’. I gotta worry about what I’m tryin’ to do, what I’m tryin’ to get to.

Mayweather mocked those not earning enough to pay federal income taxes who whine about being politically harmed by the Trump administration:

A lot of times, “Aw, man. It’s gonna affect us.” My man, you ain’t makin’, if you ain’t makin’ four, five, six hundred million dollars, man, it’s not gonna affect you no f***in’ way. So, it’s only gonna affect somebody like me. I’m the motherf***** that should be trippin’, payin’ thirty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six million dollars. I should be trippin’.

One thing that we all know that we got to do. One thing we know that’s gonna happen for sure, we’re gonna pay taxes and we’re gonna die. But while we’re here, live life to the fullest. Stop worrying about everybody else is doin’.

Leftist agitators would be better served in allocating their protest time toward self-improvement, said Mayweather:

So at the end of the day, I don’t know why everybody keeps bitching about, and keeps picketing, and holding, they walking, “We don’t want!”; protesting, “We don’t want this happening!”

My man, all that time you spend protesting, you keep be at home writing down ideas, coming up with a business.

Mayweather mocked ungrateful foreigners enjoying the blessings of American life while suggesting American society unjustifiably prioritizes the welfare of non-Americans over American citizens:

What I’m sayin’ is this: A lot of times you meet people, people from other countries, and they’re like, “Oh, I love my country. I love this, I love that.” I say, “You love your country so much, why you here? You’re takin’ up space for other people. We got some other Americans that’ll love your job.”

But remember, this country will give somebody else from a whole other country that they don’t know s*** about a loan before they’ll even give an American citizen a loan. I don’t know how many illegal people that we have in this country… A lot of times, we spend too much time worrying and talking about everybody’s business instead of worrying about our own.
