I was just comparing Nitto Grapplers vs Dick Cepek Fun Country ( only 285-55/20 for the DC) in that stock size.

What tires were you thinking if 20”? 18”?

I’ll probably wind up talking myself into a set of Michelins anyhow since I drive a lot but I do like those mildly aggressive tread options.

Sharp looking truck!! Cool

I also have a 2014 and its been flawless so far.

My only want for the truck is the larger 38 gallon fuel tank that they put in the newer models.

The stock fuel tank size is kind of weak depending on your situation.

Congrats, hope it treats you well!

My friend, who passed away last week, bought a new Tacoma 18 months ago. He stated the same thing, wanting a larger fuel tank, wanting greater range when towing his camper.

I urged him to buy a replacement tank from Link to Transfer Flow.

He opted for a replacement tank over an in the bed tank (they have lots of choices), and went from a factory standard 26 gallon tank to a 46 gallon tank.

It's not cheap, but it's very well made, all metal, and the shop he used to have it installed only charged him about $175 and they commented on how sturdy and the quality of the new tank. It fit perfectly with no having to monkey around trying to get things to fit. I don't know how they did this, but the fuel gauge on the dash was able to recognize the larger capacity and work perfectly showing the fuel level. That was awesome.

There are other brands of replacement tanks, some are cheaper, but after years of being around RV's I've found that Transfer Flow is the best around. (I have no relationship with them).

You have lots of choices besides a replacement tank. I like the idea of the combination tool box/auxiliary fuel tank, and the aux tank that has a pump and hose/nozzle to refuel ATV's etc.

I have a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws 275/70/18 (33"x11")sitting in the garage that I pulled off the Expedition. These tires are fantastic and have done me very very well. Hence the reason I pulled them off planned on getting an SR5 with 18" wheels and just swap them over.
But this Limited came along.

I have Cooper Discover AT3s on my Silverado and they are very nice but not as aggressive as I would like for this truck. When I was purchasing those someone here mentioned Discount Tire makes an AT tire called the ATP just for them and it is a bit more aggressive than the AT3s.
I can get those installed in 275/60/20 for $950. That is pretty much the same cost I can get my 18" tires installed on a set of used 18" wheels for.
I will have a much easier time selling the tires alone than I would these Limited wheels with crap tires. There are currently 3 sets of Limited wheels in my area for sale.
So I am pretty sure I'll be getting the ATPs.

The Falkens are made in Thailand and I am doing my best to buy as much US made stuff as possible when possible and I have been very happy with my other Coopers.

Just can't really justify shelling out the $1250 for Duratracs or KO2s

Yes, the smaller fuel tank is a bummer. Most of the SR5s I was looking at had the upgrade package that included the larger tank.
Sadly the Limited does not have this.

It cost about $1,000 to buy all the factory stuff and do the larger OEM tank swap.
But as Gene pointed to the Transfer Flow is a much better option even at $1,700. The metal tank is a huge plus no need for skid plates.

The fuel gauge sending unit is on the factory fuel pump which is reused so the tank reading for the gauge is proper. Some folks miles to empty computers never get the new mileage and some do. Not really sure the deal with that.

Limited package after 2016 has the 38-gallon tank. And a Limited with the TRD Off Road package comes with 18" TRD wheels. Sorry, but those 20's are fugly.

Not the best looking but look way better than most of the aftermarket stuff.

Back to the tires think I may get a set of Michelin LTX A/T2s.
They are about $25 more a tire than the Coopers are supposed to be super quiet and have a little bit stronger sidewall.

Decided to keep these.
Just ordered 275/60/20 (33”x11”) Michelin LTX A/T2s for the stock wheels. If I got new wheels they would have been the 18” OEM snowflake style wheels off a 200 Series Land Cruiser.

Watched a YouTube video of a fella with a 2016 Tundra TRDPro with these tires in the 32” factory size. He was doing all and more of what I will be doing on the trails around here.
They are supposed to be super quiet on the road as well and made in the states!!!

I've black powder coated factory rims before and the looked really good.

Have been very pleased with the Michelin tires you mentioned.

I don't know how to post a picture here, but I had my wheels powdercoated black and they turned out great. Local shop charged $50.00 a wheel.

I have the Michelin LTX A/T 2's on mine (first replacement set).

So far they have been nice tires, quiet, great in the snow and rain.

I am a little concerned about tread life. I have about 20,000 on them and they are wearing a touch faster than I hoped.

That said, they seem like they will last at least 45,000 though.

I think it's a good trade off for softness vs wear.

I would buy them again at this point.

They have a 60k mile treadlife warranty so you certainly should get well beyond 45k. I am pretty sure as they get older they wear slower as the rubber compound is slightly different as they wear. That’s why they tend to get a little louder towards the end of life.

As for powder coating I am not a big fan of black wheels. I was contemplating doing a gunmetal but it is such a gigantic pain having the wheels off for a few days. Plus the 2 shops around here charge $100 a wheel.

Congrats!!

68-72mph is the sweet spot for highway cruising and mpg with the 5.7. There is a significant drop at 75+

Work paid for my gas, so I really didn’t care lol

I got the 8000 lumen-6500k Beamtech bulbs from Amazon for 38.99. They fit your year and trim. I didn’t want to deal with a fan (dust was my concern) preferring a heat sink.
I would have loved to have the coin for new Headlight Revolution LED housings ($$$) but I haven’t lost my sanity completely yet.
$40 vs hundreds was a no brainer.

I’ll grab a set. Just wish it weren’t such a gigantic pain to just swap a headlight bulb.

Yeah, it’s a little nuts to pull the grill and other stuff but it’s only 4 bolts and some plastic keepers. Look at the Headlight Revolution video, it shows the whole sequence. I actually did it twice because I found a dust cover *after* I put it all back together. Roll Eyes

Note: the dust covers won’t go over the heat sink. IIRC, I put the retaining ring on, then dust cover, then insert bulb.
The bulb needs to be oriented so that the metal looking thing above 3 of the LEDS is horizontal and on the top not the bottom. You’ll understand when you see the bulb.
