Regarding the CTH article above brought to mind an old joke, re-fashioned for our political parties:

A man is sent to Hell where he meets the devil. He notices there are 2 fiery cauldrons. One of the cauldrons is left un-guarded, and the other is completely surrounded by guards.

The man asks the devil, "what are the 2 cauldrons for?"
The devil replies, "the un-guarded cauldron is for Republicans, the other for Democrats"
man: "why is the Democrat one so heavily guarded?"
devil: "They stick together. If one gets out, they reach down and help all the others to get out."
man: "So, why not the Republicans?"
devil: "Well, if one tries to get out, all the others pull him back in. We don't need to guard them, they destroy themselves."

What the fuck did they think was going to happen when they agreed to allowing just any one person to make a motion to vacate the chair?

Seems like they knew McCarthy was going to be sacrificed and now that that's done, they want to return back to the status quo.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

While the removal of the speaker is, to say the least, unprecedented, I keep seeing people mention the rule change like it is/was an unprecedented thing, it's not. That rule had been in place since 1837, and until 2019 when Pelosi changed it to 5(lawmakers in the majority party). All they did back in January was change it BACK to 1, no?

The bottom line is that McCarthy would not have ever become SOTH without that rule change...

Nancy Pelosi changed that rule. The threshold for bringing a motion to vacate was a single member until 2019, when Democrats won the majority. Up until that point, the motion to vacate was considered a privileged motion, which any one member could bring to the House floor. Then, a majority of either party had to agree to it. Two Republican speakers had been threatened with and ultimately left office over the move, and Democtat Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushed a rule change that required a majority of the conference to support a motion to vacate. Prior to that change, the rule permitting one person to one person to bring an Motion to Vacate the Chair existed w/o incident.

So we are 33 trillion dollars in debt

2 trillion a year in deficit spending

The last 3 months 1 trillion in deficit spending

Highest inflation in most of our lives

The country runs on continuing resolutions and shutdown politics

Our border is an overrun invasion

Drugs across the border - killing 100,000 people a year

Sex trafficking of woman and children at disgusting levels

Modern day slavery at highest levels ever

Homeless at such levels it is taking over cities

100 billion to Ukraine - while our infrastructure gets lip service

Corrupt criminals in our White House - and infesting the halls of congress

Dollars and gold bars provided to politicians to betray their country

The list could go on.....

But these sad sacks are "Ashamed and Embarrassed" about this. Most of them should be removed and sent packing. America is ashamed and embarrassed of you.

Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.

Well, my rep, the "Honorable" Michael McCaul, is one such ASS-HAT that signed this POS. I've considered him a SWAMP shithead since his comments that the 2020 election was a "fair" election that wasn't stolen and his stance on Covid. FHATHHRIO... Mad

Another example of “I’m the victim“ mentality. As mentioned by another member, McCarthy’s disregard for promises he made to obtain the speakership was the motivation behind Gaetz’s calling for the vacancy. All Gaetz did was hold McCarthy accountable for his actions or lack thereof.

I’ve NEVER liked or trusted McCarthy; a California politician cut from the same cloth as Pelosi, Feinstein, Boxer, Newsome, Schiff, Swalwell and Maxine Waters, just to name a few.

I'm ashamed he's my representative.

Last year, Texas gained one more seat due to population growth and my very conservative Congressman, Kevin Brady, retired. They took the opportunity to redraw the districts to squeeze in another Republican district, but unfortunately Dan the RINO's 2nd district was redrawn to include my area.

Absolutely true! McCarthy did many things to push and allow the democrats their funding without concessions or any negotiations. McConnell should be the next to go. It’s about time we hold our elected officials accountable for their actions and inactions. Has held back the investigative committee by not allowing them to subpoena certain witnesses, has held back on impeachment proceedings on Biden. Why his excuse was we don’t have the votes in the Senate. Did that hold back the Democrats against Trump? Hell no it didn’t and we have a hell of a lot more proof against the Biden. I wonder why many more republican representatives didn’t vote to remove McCarthy? The spineless place holders we have in Congress now all need to be replaced! I have contacted my representative to ask why he didn’t vote McCarthy out. We will see if I get a response from him. He portrays himself as conservative.

I see the little weasel from SD signed the letter. I always knew Dusty Johnson portrayed himself as being conservative but he is comparing himself to left extreme members.

Scalise Wins GOP Nomination For Speaker

It was almost guaranteed that the house would NOT pick the man that Trump recommended - because that would be inconsistent with perpetuating the deep state status quo.

The good news is that Jordan can remain focused on the important roles that he currently holds without interruption.

I would imagine that Matt Gaetz is disappointed, but the Democrat's prediction that the House would be gridlocked and therefore unable to govern was obviously quickly disproved - so that is a good thing.

Let's see how this plays out. It's too early to condemn the decision.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Was clearly the goal of all of them voting to oust McCarthy, help F-up the House, and watch TV blame it all on Gaetz and the extreme right wing caucus he represents. Sort of the "watch it burn" mentality...

I'm betting the D were laughing their asses off behind closed doors at the action, knowing that not one single news agency would report that 100% of the Democrats voted to oust the speaker... They could have all abstained or voted for McCarthy and crushed Gaetz's contingent, but what would be the gain in doing that vs historically significant vote to oust a speaker.

In the video posted on page one of this thread, Gaetz stood on the house steps and said "I would vote for Steve Scalise."
