Well , the Democrat Mayor of New Orleans referred to it as a terrorist event so that put them in a bind ..

That was my first thought. Most politicians are too gutless to say anything like that and few in law enforcement are willing to hang themselves out for some fringe group get its moment of attention by objecting to something said. People get outraged and triggered by failures of public officials or LE to call a spade an effing shovel, but what do we expect? When anyone can be hauled into court for leaving out the word “alleged” from mention of any crime, no matter how obvious, I would do nothing different either. It’s what our culture has sunk to and demands these days and that’s what it gets.

“ Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one’s own understanding without another’s guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one’s own mind without another’s guidance.”

I saw that. Are you trying to say it’s related to the story in the OP?

Insufficient information to draw any conclusions beyond a large cache of explosive devices were confiscated. Timing is interesting given recent events.

The fact Joe Q Blow is renting his EV ford F150 on Turo to anybody and it also happened to go through eagle pass is not that big a deal to me yet. Just bad luck he rents to criminals.

Why the bollards couldn’t be fixed in NOLA by NYE is a sick joke. The city doesn’t know bourbon st is one of the biggest party areas in the country on NYE add the sugar bowl today and superbowl in a month is lame. The contract to the company to get it fixed should have stipulated the 12/31 date. And if the bollards couldn’t be fixed you’re telling me NOPD and other agencies couldn’t park a suburban or 2 at each main intersection and blocking off all that French quarter traffic to pedestrians only ? Once again criminal incompetence by .gov employees.

The failure to simply park a large vehicle or two, the way it’s been done forever before the custom bollards existed, is criminal negligence.

There was a patrol car parked blocking the street. The terrorist drove around it and quickly accelerated down Bourbon St. Who woulda thunk that might happen?

It blows my mind that the bollard work was ongoing with the Super Bowl as the deadline while NYE and the Sugar Bowl weren't considered.

Don’t need to, she did a stint as Chief Deputy with my agency for about a year and a half after being bounced from Spokane as their Chief so I am familiar with her less than stellar career.

Went on to be an instructor at FBI (those who can do, those who can’t teach…) before moving on to several short term positions with nothing but problems everywhere (Oakland, Chicago, now NOLA). I’m sure it is all just unfortunate “coincidence” though.

Her name is pretty much synonymous with “seemed like a good candidate at the time…” in LE rank and file circles. Administrators seem to really like her though for some reason, history be damned.

Saw something about the ISIS Flag on the truck was upside down..... Maybe like when the US Flag flown upside down means distress and need immedate help.... This dates back to the old sailing ship days and then later during times of radio silence during some operation........ Maybe if the mayor of "Chocolate City" and the Police Dept were more 2nd Amendment friendly they would have not basically turned "The French Quarter" into a gun free zone then maybe someone could have stopped this madman before he had killed and injured so many people ...... drill sgt.

Yes, I did.

He very emphatically stated something to the effect that the absolute truth about the terrorist attack and all of the details will come out and be told to the American Citizens, regardless of what the FBI’s ‘official’ findings are if there happen to be any differences.

He looked and sounded like he meant it.

Did you actually see the video of this truck speeding down that small road? There was zero chance anyone was going to stop this attack with a bazooka let alone a pistol.

Yeah, probably illegal fireworks, either "Polandcrackers" imported from Eastern Europe or self-cooked. The rest is just straight fake news - five people died all over Germany in separate fireworks incidents that night, none of them in Berlin. Plus the usual morons blowing off some of their body parts, frequently while drunk; that category included 15 in Berlin alone. As one social media post put it, "it's puzzle night in hand surgery again".

I hope one reason they covered up the flag was not to inspire more attacks.

I can read the headlines now:
During Jimmy Carters funeral procession...
During Donald Trumps Inauguration...

All agencies better have their best ready.

I hope so, because I will be at the Inauguration.

How so? The guy you posted about was arrested on 12/17/2024 after an FBI investigation that started in January of 2023.

The truck crossed the border being driven by someone else at least a month ago. Jabber didn’t rent it until 12/30.

Right there with you. I have heard for years about NYC parking garbage trucks and dump trucks loaded with sand to block road and sidewalks. If I know then it's pretty much public knowledge. Stationing folks with keys to move the trucks for emergency vehicles is an easy answer.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

In a brief 1:40 clip, Peter Zeihan is downplaying the aspect of this being the start of something, saying that there’s only been three vehicle terror attacks in North America since the ISIS call for jihad 15-20 years ago. I thought there were more, or am I thinking of Europe, where this happens way more often?
Or is he fudging the numbers?
