There are any number of civilian support jobs in each of the military branches and the overarching Department of Defense.

Just because he may have worked as a civilian for the Army does not mean he "served in the military".

Very true, Rogue. But unless I erred, I used the guy's own wordage from the video. Let's see what else the investigation uncovers/discovers.

The goal is to have the barriers replaced before the Super Bowl.” New Orleans was removing and replacing security bollards on Bourbon Street

NOLA Dept. of Public Works:

Bourbon Street Bollard Assessment & Replacement Project

“The Department of Public Works has contracted Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC to remove and replace the current bollard system as part of the Bourbon Street Bollard Assessment & Replacement Project. Construction began in November 2024 and is scheduled to continue through February 2025, weather permitting. The project includes replacing old bollards with new removable stainless-steel bollards and sidewalk repairs at various locations.

The current bollards on Bourbon Street, from Canal Street to St. Ann Street, will be replaced with new removable stainless-steel bollards. These can be securely locked behind each crosswalk. Construction will focus on the first 60 feet of each block where the old bollards are. The road will be taken out and replaced to put in the new bollards. Some sidewalk repairs, like fixing missing bricks, will also be done. The removable bollards will help close the street to cars during pedestrian-only times but will be stored away when the street is open to all traffic.“

This is like Hot Topic Bingo:
ISIS flag
“Assault Rifle”
Islamic name
Possible border stuff
Electric vehicles

All we are missing is an LQBTQ tie-in.
That will probably come from a victim who will claim to have been targeted. I wouldn’t wish senseless violence on anyone.
What a way to start the New Year.

Although he was reportedly an “anti-Islamist,” so motivations vary.

What has long left me wondering is why there haven’t been more vehicle ramming attacks like this. There are countless events that would be even more vulnerable than this one. But of course as they occur it will only increase their likelihood in the future.

BLAST HORROR One dead in explosion at Trump Hotel and 7 injured as Tesla Cybertruck drives up to door & starts smoking then blows up

AN explosion at Trump Hotel has left one person dead and seven others injured as cops probe why a Cybertruck burst into flames.

Shocking video shows the Tesla on fire feet from Trump International Hotel after the blast rocked the Las Vegas Strip just before 9 am local time on Wednesday.
Cops say the Cybertruck pulled right up to the front door of the hotel, started smoking, then blew up.

The driver was killed and seven others were injured.

A hotel guest shared video of the Tesla Cybertruck engulfed in flames just beyond the hotel's doors.

"Cybertruck blew up in front of Trump hotel in Las Vegas. Those are our luggage by the door and that’s where we were when it happened," the guest wrote on X.
Footage shared on X showed people standing in a parking lot near the hotel after being evacuated.

Fashion Show Drive has been shut down while officials tend to the scene.

The Trump Hotel released a statement on social media acknowledging the incident that was also shared by Eric Trump, the Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization.

"Earlier today a reported electric vehicle fire occurred in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas. The safety & well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response," the statement read.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to the hotel and Las Vegas police for comment.

"Crawfishing" = walking back prior statements, giving vague non-answers, backpedaling, tap-dancing, being evasive, etc.

FBI Blatantly Lied About New Orleans Attack
By Tom Knighton | 2:30 PM | January 01, 2025

The vehicular massacre on Bourbon Street is still sending shockwaves throughout the nation, and there are still a lot of questions left to be answered.

I won't necessarily say that the one I'm about to ask is the biggest, but it's right up there.

Why did the FBI lie about it?

See, it seems they started off by trying to tell the media that no, this wasn't terrorism, when in fact it was. Now, I'm always willing to allow for the possibility that things changed since the FBI made that statement, but as my colleague over at RedState, Bonchie, they had all the information before they said a thing.

The man who carried out the terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, and he is being investigated for having ties to ISIS.

As RedState reported previously, the truck used to mow down dozens of people went through a border crossing at Eagle Pass, TX in November. It is not clear whether that fact is connected to the attacker because the truck was a rental.
Regardless, the assailant exited the vehicle after ramming through the crowd and started shooting. He was eventually killed by police after a firefight. CPR failed to revive him.

Notably and inexcusably, the FBI initially proclaimed this was not a terrorist attack, with the FBI Special Agent in Charge making that statement after New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell had already confirmed it was one.

FBI ASSISTANT SPECIAL AGENT: This is not a terrorist event. What it is right now is there improvised explosive devices that was found, and we are working on confirming if this is a viable device or not.

It wasn't immediately clear if the spokeswoman (that was the role she was operating in for the moment) didn't realize the mayor had already let the cat out of the bag or if the FBI simply wanted to keep things under wraps for the time being, but it was another example of why the bureau has lost so much trust among the American public.

...

Returning to the attacker, I had seen a picture of him post-mortem before his identity was revealed. He had a darker complexion with a beard. He was also wearing combat fatigues. I can't post it due to its graphic nature. Couple that with the jihadi flag that appeared to be attached to the back of the truck, and there's just no excuse for the FBI to have not been more upfront with the public initially.

Even CNN is acknowledging that the dude had an ISIS flag in the truck. This information was right there available for anyone in the FBI to examine. Had the agent not said it wasn't a terrorist attack and simply said the situation was developing or some other kind of non-answer, at least people could understand that.

No, she literally told the entire world it wasn't terrorism.

The dude driving a rented truck plows into a crowd, intentionally trying to injure and kill as many people as possible, with an ISIS flag hanging like a gun rack in the back window, and someone in the FBI saw all of that and thought, "I don't know, it sure doesn't look like terrorism to me," and told the media just that? Yeah, I'm not buying it.

It's one thing not to tell the media everything you know. On some level, we all understand there are reasons not to do that.

What you don't do is lie. You can be wrong, but you need to be wrong about something that people can't see for themselves. You can be wrong, but not about what's plain as day for anyone who cares to look and has the view far too many people have.

As Bonchie notes, this is why trust in the FBI is at an all-time low. I won't say it's the only reason, but it's certainly a big one and as an American taxpayer, we're all kind of sick of it.

I thought about whether that might have inspired this guy, since MO was rather similar (with the addition of some guns and explosives), and what struck me was the untypical age of both - 50 in Magdeburg, 42 in New Orleans. Of course if it did, it mostly proves that crazyness is contagious, as the Magdeburg perpetrator professed to be a violently anti-Islam ex-Muslim.

In truth he's probably an embodiment of the stereotype that people study psychology to understand their own conditions. Guy came to Germany in 2006 on a student visa after studying medicine, looking to continue professional training as a psychatrist. In 2013 he made threats referencing the Boston Marathon bombing when the local medical board wouldn't admit him to examination. Got a conviction for it about which he complained to everyone up to and including the Federal Chancellery. In 2016 he was granted political asylum over his claims he would be persecuted in Saudi Arabia as an apostate. There have been suggestions that he made that up because otherwise he'd have to leave Germany, but he sure embraced the role of the activist helping other ex-Muslims to escape Islamic countries - while alienating everyone he engaged.

Also in 2016, he made a donation to the German Central Council of Ex-Muslims and proposed cooperating with an affilliated refugee aid organization. They quickly realized he was a nutbag, at which point he demanded his donation back and started harassing their board. In fact the day before the Magdeburg attack, he was to appear in court over a subsequent complaint. Yet after all that, he was admitted as a practicing psychatrist and worked in a closed facility for drug-addicted criminals, of all things. In 2019, several German and international media including the BBC and "Jerusalem Post" featured his activism for ex-Muslims. In his social media, he followed and reposted the right-wing AfD, Tommy Robinson, Radio Genoa, Elon Musk, all the pied pipers preying on insecure minds in the globalized world. Just two weeks before the attack, he gave an interview to an American anti-Islam blog, accusing the German government of promoting Islamism and persecuting ex-Muslim refugees.

What caused him to emulate the MO of the 2016 Berlin Christmas market attack in his twisted mind is anyone's guess. Maybe he thought it would engender more debate on Islamism in the canpaign before the February snap elections. Some suggested he was an Islamist sleeper practicing taqiyya, but then either they or him didn't understand the concept very well, which was invented by Shi'a Muslims to stay off the radar in countries of a different faith - not drawing attention to you at every turn. On another board, someone called him Schrödinger's terrorist, because his background - Saudi, asylum seeker, ex-Muslim, right-wing follower - has something for every ideological camp. I'm reminded of the 2016 Munich spree shooter, who was from an Iranian immigrant family, bullied by Turkish schoolmates, researched school shootings, was undergoing psychiatric treatment, changed his name from Ali to David upon turning 18, and may have converted to Christianity. Nutters gonna nut.
