Such a retarded approach to the issue. Who gives a damn if the prison was understaffed. They have a bunch of nobodies (by comparison) and 'one' very, very, high profile prisoner to keep up with. Any prison supervisor/manager worth their salt would have said, let the nobodies hang themselves, but watch Epstein every minute. There's a whole lot more to this story than simple under staffing, though the Times is likely too stupid and partisan to care.

Stories about people who ended up working for this particular company after being destroyed by the Clinton's for not falling in line with their demands or deals were scary, and true.

They made their own bed on this one 20+ years ago, it has nothing to do with Trump, those evil conservatives, or recent events.

The suit was settled in the plaintiff's favor. The settlement size remains undisclosed, but Maxwell's legal costs lead her to sell her $15 million New York residence.

As of 2017, her lawyers claim she's likely in London, but given the threat she poses to Prince Andrew, that seems unlikely. If pressed, no one could provide a more damning testimony to the United States against the accused royal, and it seems unlikely that Maxwell would gamble on her safety by remaining a sitting duck in a city dominated by people with a vested interest in her death.

I read that while the coroner was out to lunch Epstein cremated himself.

I doubt the Clintons or his associates had anything to do with him hanging himself, as others said, you go from jet setting billionaire sexual predator with friends everywhere to a 8x8 cell with a roomie and that was probably enough to send him over the edge.

Now as to the guards not watching him when he was placed on a suicide watch, who knows, reports are they vacated that duty for hours. Perhaps it's simple contempt for him being a predator and billionaire and not giving a shit if he hung himself, but it does change things.

DOJ Announces New Action In Epstein Suicide Investigation

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Tuesday that the warden in charge of the federal prison where accused child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide has been temporarily reassigned and two corrections officers have been placed on administrative leave.

"Today, the Attorney General directed the Bureau of Prisons to temporarily assign the warden at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York to the Bureau’s Northeast Regional Office pending the outcome of the FBI and OIG investigations into the apparent suicide of Jeffrey Epstein, a former MCC inmate," DOJ spokesperson Kerri Kupec said. "FCI Otisville Warden James Petrucci has been named Acting Warden of the MCC New York. The Bureau of Prisons also placed on administrative leave two MCC staff assigned to Mr. Epstein’s unit pending the outcome of the investigations. Additional actions may be taken as the circumstances warrant."

The announcement comes after Epstein reportedly committed suicide in his jail cell early on Saturday morning after he was taken off of suicide watch late last month and his cellmate was transferred out of the cell just hours prior to the infamous financier's death.

CBS News reported: "On the morning of Jeffrey Epstein's death there was shouting and shrieking from his jail cell, a source familiar with the situation told CBS News. Corrections officers attempted to revive him while saying 'breath, Epstein, breath.'"

The New York Post reported on Monday that Epstein "apparently killed himself by kneeling toward the floor and strangling himself with the makeshift noose."

Following Epstein's death, Attorney General William Barr released the following statement: "I was appalled to learn that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in federal custody. Mr. Epstein's death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI's investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein's death."

Fox News reported on Monday that socialite Ghislaine Maxwell is now likely to be the focus of federal prosecutors, who alleged that she was "the 'madam' and 'recruiter' who supplied underage girls to alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and who's accused of engaging in assaults alongside the disgraced -- and deceased -- financier."

"Several of Epstein’s accusers have pointed to Maxwell as playing a pivotal role in enlisting his victims, according to thousands of pages of court documents unsealed on Friday -- just hours before Epstein reportedly used his bedsheet to hang himself from a prison bunk -- in relation to a 2015 defamation suit filed against Maxwell," Fox News added. "Those who say they're victims of Epstein and other eyewitnesses to the events surrounding his alleged crimes, have testified Maxwell's role was in arranging massages and sexual favors for Epstein and a circle of his high-profile associates."

IF there is any sort of conspiracy here it is entangled in the administration of the facility and revolves around the removal from suicide watch and transfer of the cell-mate and therefore providing the opportunity for a suicide to happen (as opposed to a more direct form of “assistance”).

But it is even more believable that it was a particular confluence of events (removal from SW because he said the right things, it’s not hard), a legit inmate transfer (happens every day), lazy guards not doing their rounds (also happens every day, I assure you), and a man willing to end his own troubles.
