He is slowly burning his past(finances) and his future at the stake of his own creation. The country will get over him and move on. A good portion of the population will occasionally use him as the butt of a joke and hold future claims with more skepticism. A very good outcome. I also like to think that these hate crime hoaxers will remember his failure and become a thing of the past.

This slow burn is going to last longer than that Empire show. Until then, let's keep our chins up and keep the popcorn coming.

You guys remember Tawana Brawley? Ok, she was a kid when she did that hoax, so not as hideous as Jussie's. But she didn't end up so well for it later in life. It launched Al Sharpton's career though.

Was he ever in anything besides empire ? Any producer credits ? The royalties from big time movies and TV shows in syndication are where the money is for modern actors. The Brady Bunch kids all got paid for about 6 episodes of reruns per show. Those days are over. The “Friends” cast and other huge hits are set for life long after the actual work checks stop. The residual income is forever. Hell, Vanilla Ice reportedly makes about 1mm a year in royalties from ice ice baby. I have a client that made one documentary about 20 years ago that was a minor hit on the festival film circuit they still get about 50k a year from its play on Netflix and Amazon etc.

The people around him (publicly) in denial about him is just astounding. That he has doubled and tripled down on his story when anybody with 2 brain cells working can see the fraud. His PR guy should be fired. A sincere apology and confession ( sans the black power nonsense) even if he gave his side of the story and why he did it would garner him much sympathy, a weekend in the clink and people would move on. I really hope he drags this out for a long time with expensive appeals lawyers and ends up doing his time

A judge in Chicago ruled Friday that an attorney forJussie Smollett might have defamed two Black brothers who testified that they participated in a fake racist and homophobic attack on the actor when she suggested they had been wearing “whiteface”

The Chicago Tribune reported that U.S. District Judge Mary Rowland's ruling centers on comments Tina Glandian made on NBC's “Today” show in March 2019, shortly after the Cook County State's Attorney announced it was dropping charges accusing Smollett of lying to police about the incident two months earlier.

Discussing how Smollett had told police that one of his attackers was white, Glandian said that the very dark-skinned brothers might have “put makeup on" to disguise their color. Further, she criticized Chicago police for their alleged failure to investigate an online video showing one of the brothers “in whiteface doing a joke monologue with white makeup on,”

Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo filed a defamation lawsuit, alleging that the comments were part of a effort to portray them as racist, homophobic and violent men who truly attacked Smollett.

On Friday, Rowland suggested that Glandian’s comments could be seen as defamatory, an apparent attempt by the lawyer to "dispel the inconsistency in Smollett’s story (the attackers had light skin) and bolster her contention that the plaintiffs (who are not light skinned) were Smollett’s attackers.”

“Taken in context, Glandian was asserting plaintiffs’ involvement in a racially motivated attack,” Rowland wrote. “Explaining that the attackers were white, read in context, adds the implication that the attack was a hate crime.”

The ruling means that the defamation count against Glandian could go to trial.
