I think he got off light, but at least he'll feel that time and money. 150 days in Cook County Jail ain't no joke. Hope he serves every single one of them.

Even if his jail time gets reduced substantially, it's still a major victory. The police could have flubbed the investigation. The jury could have nullified the verdict. The judge could have simply fined him. The charges were dropped, and what if they hadn't been reinstated? There's so much that could have gone wrong and I am not going to listen to people trying to find something bad in all of this.

Oh, overturned on appeal? Boys and girls, that arrogant motherfucker is being processed right now. That is something which can never be overturned. We won.

Reading in this thread that he said he's not suicidal didn't mean anything to me until I saw the clip of him saying it.

That was funny in itself.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

My son expressed a bit of disappointment. I tried to impress upon him what an incredible victory this is against a crooked justice system that allows one race of people to get off with lighter sentences than the other races. The pessimistic side of me could easily imagine him getting away with this for both being in a member of the right race AND being of the right sexual persuasion. But, the hammer of justice did fall.

I found what you said riveting.

The only thing I find impossible about the entire charade is that he could possibly claim innocence following his sentencing. That his family supports his innocence makes it seem even more impossible.

"He's my boy and I love him, so I'll proclaim his innocence no matter how guilty he is!" That mentality is part of the reason Juicy is so screwed in the head.

A phrase the judge used repeatedly towards the end describing Smollett- "...selfish, arrogant, narcissistic". And " charlaton"

Also the word "perjury".

The fucker is black and a homosexual, going into county jail for months. Given the idiot's personality, he will pop off, say the wrong thing to the wrong guy.

100%, he is petrified of going to jail for 5 months.

I had to go back to listen to the judge. He has to pay 120k in restitution and a 25k fine. That and 150 days in the pokey and 30 months of probation is way more than I thought he would get.

When the judge said 3 years probation and no prison because of the various reasons I was not thrilled. But then the 150 days in county jail as part of the probation and I was surprised.

Assume he did this so they couldn't appeal a "prison" sentence, and only the probation? 3 years is a more than reasonable sentence for felony probation so not much to appeal. And the county lockup starts now and will be done by the time any appeal can be heard. Sounds like he wanted mandatory, no excuses, no avoiding it jail time.

So what is the Over and Under for Juicy's first suicide attempt? If he is as narcissistic as he appears to be, he will try and commit suicide to make himself into a martyr. Glad that an experienced professional Sheriff Tom Dart is in charge of the Jail. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
