If I were one of the people who have invested (in some cases reinvested multiple times) and worked their ass off the rebuild Detroit into something worthwhile, I would be incensed. Can you imagine? After all that city has had to endure, to be essentially a rising phoenix and now this?

I would expect Detroit to go harder right than expected when the votes are tallied in November.

I think probably a fair amount of them actually believe it and may not be in it for the Marxism. There's been no rioting in my little hamlet, but there have been protests most weekends at one intersection, and it's about 90-95% white folks, mostly all women. I've seen BLM face masks in grocery stores, again, all white women. No mayhem here. Yet.

In a word: Yes.
Some believe the bullshit, some are there to cause trouble, some are there for both.

Beautiful small town, historic Prescott, AZ was the scene of blm protesters and BLUE LIVES MATTER supporters on 09/04/20. I can guarantee that the former were mostly from out of town seeing how much they could get away with.

PD, SO, FD and multiple ambulances staged all around the historic court house plaza. I was at the nearby USPO when it began and got caught up in traffic. Luckily, I knew the alleys to get out of downtown.

I am not an attorney, but even in Kalifornia, if they are breaking down your door, and are gaining entry, you can shoot before their body is completely within your home. On a molotov cocktail, if they are in the act of throwing it at your house, you can shoot. If they are on your property and walking closer to the house, you can shoot (if the MC is lit).

That is my interpretation after studying this for a few years.
