Springfield Arms has never interested me.
The only other item I'm looking to aquire / build is a 6.5 Grendel AR.
If RRA offered an upper I'd be on it.
Their 5.56 Predator with its National Match barrel & bolt that I have is amazing.
But thankfully they don't offer anything in 6.5 Grendel or I may find myself in conflict with my values as "my hypocrisy goes only so far "!

Keeping my M1A and TRP, but won't be buying any more Springfields. Zero interest in RRA to begin with, so no love lost there for me. Did they honestly think this shit would fly?

To my mind, the M1A has been interesting, but just an updated M-1 Garand, and I already have one of those.

I've wanted an FN-FAL for many years, and a company called DSA makes a respected replica, and also in Illinois. I haven't checked pricing lately, but last I remember, it was relatively close to the M1A.

There's where I'll spend my money, not with Springfield Arms.

Gotta Kimber and a VBOB 1911s. Bushmaster in 5.56 Nato. Glock takes care of my stricker-fired needs. So nope, won't need any SA or RRA. Always had a hankering for a M1A, but I can go shoot my dad's Garand. Suck it SA

I own two Springfield 1911's, TRP and Loaded. Was contemplating picking up a Saint to play with as a beater (I own Colts, but have Bushmasters as beaters) - but that isn't going to happen now.

I'd been pondering selling them to finance a custom 1911. Springfield just gave me the nudge.

I owned MANY S&W's, being a revolver maven. When they got in bed with Clinton, I had them all sold in a year.

Both companies may have cost themselves more than they stood to make with their traitorous deal. Reminds me of the fox guarding the hen house.

I will be looking closely for how their (NRA) magazines cover this. Since my wife, my son, and I are all life members and we elected to each get different magazines (Guardian, Hunter, Rifleman). All three usually arrive the same day. All three are always packed full of Springfield Armory advertising and articles. The Guardian that came in last week has a big glowing piece on the Saint rifle as a matter of fact. The Rifleman featured the EMP and Saint as Golden Bullseye award winners. I am sure the articles are already written for gobs of praise on this new hammer fired 9 that debuted at the convention. I am watching closely to see if the NRA magazines avoid addressing this as SA has so far, or will they be a mouthpiece defending and advancing whatever narrative that SA comes up with to defend against the backlash for what they did.

Having worked "the rail" in Springfield for more than a few years, I know for a fact that typically the client, who in this case is SA & RRA are at the mercy of the lobbyist who represents them. Jay Keller is the lobbyist or the so called hired gun for the IFMA, pardon the pun. The lobbyist is mainly the one who guides the client and their best interests through the legislative process. I am not condoning the outcome or the way the "Bill" came out of committee, just making an observation.

I will add both SA and RR to my do not buy from list. As to our memory and grudge keeping, reminds me of the article in Guns and Ammo a few years ago being pro-gun control. I have not touched a G&A magazine or website anything since - even though they made an attempt at damage control. There are lines to not cross.

quote:
‘Guns & Ammo’ Fires Editor, Apologizes for Gun-Control Column

The firearm magazine’s editor says he thought a mildly pro gun-control column would spark a debate. It certainly did—one that led to scorching outrage from gun enthusiasts and the writer’s firing.

The Florida-based gun enthusiast magazine Guns & Ammo fired longtime editor Dick Metcalf on Wednesday and apologized to readers after Metcalf’s column in the magazine’s December issue sparked an online uproar from readers, gun bloggers, and other corners of the conservative movement.

“I made a mistake by publishing the column,” Guns & Ammo editor Jim Bequette wrote in a statement. “I thought it would generate a healthy exchange of ideas on gun rights. I miscalculated, pure and simple. I was wrong, and I ask your forgiveness.” Bequette said the magazine had failed to be true to its readers’ expectations of unqualified defense of the Second Amendment, and announced that the magazine had ended its “association” with Metcalf. Bequette, Metcalf, and Guns & Ammo have not responded to requests for comment.

Metcalf’s back-page column was headlined “Let’s Talk About Limits,” (PDF) and cautiously argued that gun enthusiasts should not oppose basic limits on firearm ownership. Metcalf made the obvious point that all freedoms protected by the Constitution are regulated in some way, and that gun owners should stop acting as if any regulation whatsoever amounts to the “infringement” mentioned in the Second Amendment.

I'd be interested to hear how things are going at the NRA convention for both SA and RRA. I cant imagine the staff manning the booths are having a pleasant time. So be it.

Still, Has anybody heard any reports from the floor?

That being said, I need to outfit 3 kids with entry level AR's for training classes. They found a passion they hadn't previously known existed. You can bet your ass that SA/RRA aren't on the list of options.

Then now is the time for them to revise their instructions to their pet weasel - before the bill gets to the House and the Governor. Win or lose, hopeless or not, if they don't publicly and aggressively switch sides now they'll be burned for years.

Iowa's just across the river, after all.

After selling out gun owners and dealers in IL, I'll never buy another firearm from Springfield. I have a 2011 Range Officer and a 1989 M1A that will be going on the market on Monday. Perhaps Springfield Armory would like to by them back. They could resell them for 30 pieces of silver.

I won't sell the Springfield Armory guns I have now - they were bought in the past - but there are now two fewer gun companies in the world as far as I'm concerned.

“The legislative process is a fluid process. The bill has only moved through one chamber, and it is still in the process. We fully support the Second Amendment and stand by it. The Illinois Manufacturers Association will continue to fight and protect not only manufacturers, but dealers and the gun owner as well.”

Except it kinda sorta looks like that's exactly what you haven't done.

Yeah these numbskulls are in the process of torpedoing their brand and all the hard working people that keep the lights on at SA. There is NO way to undo what they've done.

So what's he trying to say in that wishy-washy statement? You either oppose it or you don't. Which is it, SA? Don't bother answering that cause we already know. Everyone knows.

From what I read, this is pretty pathetic by SA and RRA.

I am going to read up on what transpired so I can have an informed opinion.

I was going to buy a SA in .357sig but that is not going to happen, along with Chief just okayed the purchase of 7 or 8 Rock River Arms R4's for our patrol cars.

I was pushing for Colt 6920 or just stick with our SG Sig 551's.

This is extremely aggrevating. If it's true as presented SA is going to have a very hard time recovering from this, and fuck them anyways. I feel sort of dirty thinking about my M1A now, not to mention being a pretty high volume SA dealer. Screw both the people selling your product and the people buying it...see how that works out for you. Bastards.
