I don't own a Ruger or a S&W and never will. Now I can add SA and RRA to that list. Hey, the old Army Ranger Home may take me in even if I am an old Navy guy. Smile

Dam. My one and only Springfield is a parkerized loaded model and it is a fine 1911.

But, vote with your wallet. Back to Colt or DW for my 1911 needs.

Bad move on publicity. I guess someone there weighed out pissed off gun owners & apathetic buyers vs sellout to politics. They're taking a S&W gamble. Well so much for a loaded m1 this year.

I'm kind of skeptical that any weighing out occurred.

I am constantly surprised by how gun companies hire "professionals" from outside the industry and then don't understand how these highly-rated professionals themselves don't understand the inner workings of what is a very highly specialized industry. Yeah, the guy was a whiz at selling sunglasses, or bass boats, or helped design flat screen TVs. Sure, does he know the difference between an O7 and 01 FFL? Does he understand that you cannot mail-order a firearm or receiver?

You don't want to take political heat from Springfield, so you OK your lobbyists to sign on to what looks like a state-tax exemption just for you. Once me/myself/I is exempted, no big deal right? Dodged a bullet right there. Roll Eyes

Except that firearms can't be sold directly to customers over the net or by phone. So this means your only distribution channel is dealers who are local to customers. Now you've granted yourself an exception but you haven't granted the same exception to your local dealers, the little guys who are actually selling your product.

In effect, what SA and RRA have is a straw. For them to make a living, guns have to flow down to the dealers and money has to flow up from dealers to them. They've successfully avoided IL.gov from clamping the straw close-to-home, at the top; but, they've done nothing to prevent IL.gov from clamping the straw at the bottom. The net effect is the same, dealers go out of business, or stop selling their guns = no money.

Every kid with a soda knows that it doesn't matter where in straw the kink is, the effect is the same.

Somebody at RRA and SA doesn't understand how this industry works.

That's disappointing. I've bought a few of each brand over the years. Mostly SA 1911s and RRA ARs. That's a pretty short sighted move. I mean...where am I ever going to find another 1911 or AR manufacturer...?

We bought a matched pair of XD-SC's several years ago, in anticipation of a state-wide ban on standard magazines in IL that never happened. I picked SA over Glock because of the grip safety, but honestly it was a poor choice. Now, I'm considering smashing both of them with a sledge hammer and sending the remains back to SA in a garbage bag with a note that says:

"NEVER AGAIN!"

There is no gun I need so badly that it would cause me to overlook behavior like this, which is why I also don't own any Rugers or S&Ws made in the past 40 years.

My newest S&W is over 30 years old, and I don't own any Rugers.

RRA is taking a beating over this decision, even though their only issue was there not being a exception for manufacturers.

Sig2340, taking a beating where? I've been looking for them on the book of faces so I can give them a highly caffeinated piece of my mind. Is the beating occurring on The twitter? Other forums?

I really wanted an M1A. Guess I'm not getting one now.

I only have one SA gun - a 1911 given to me for my retirement (GI-spec). That will be the only SA I will ever own from now on. Fortunately, I re-evaluated my long-time hatred of Glocks and have embraced the darkness within. With the exception of the M1A, I can get anything I like elsewhere. . .

Same goes for RRA.

Idiots.

On SA's Facebook page the reviews section started out around 4.7 out of 5 when I first looked at it. It's down to 4 with person after person railing on them.

What link is everybody using to view all these comments? I don't think I have found the right place so far.

I DID find the "Send us a message" link, though. . . Smile

https://www.facebook.com/SpringfieldArmoryUSA/

It's just right of center under the map and mailing address, labeled "Typically replies within a few hours Send Message".

EDIT: Found it.

They've turned off reviews on their Facebook page now. At least, I can't see them anymore.

Bless their little hearts. They think this will blow over.

Even if they shit can everyone involved in senior management I'll still never buy another SA firearm. There is nothing exclusive enough in their inventory to make up for this. Fuck them.
