as someone once said "never let a crisis go to waste", let's get the names and fire them. https://www.washingtonpost.com...m_term=.a1c560150528 Less than two weeks into Trump’s administration, federal workers are in regular consultation with recently departed Obama-era political appointees about what they can do to push back against the new president’s initiatives. Some federal employees have set up social media accounts to anonymously leak word of changes that Trump appointees are trying to make. At a church in Columbia Heights last weekend, dozens of federal workers attended a support group for civil servants seeking a forum to discuss their opposition to the Trump administration. And 180 federal employees have signed up for a workshop next weekend, where experts will offer advice on workers’ rights and how they can express civil disobedience. At the Justice Department, an employee in the division that administers grants to nonprofits fighting domestic violence and researching sex crimes said the office has been planning to slow its work and to file complaints with the inspector general’s office if asked to shift grants away from their mission. Former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), a Trump adviser and longtime critic of the bureaucracy, said the pushback against the new administration reveals how firmly entrenched liberals are and how threatened they feel by the new regime. He cited an analysis by the Hill newspaper that showed that 95 percent of campaign donations from employees at 14 federal agencies went to Hillary Clinton last fall. “This is essentially the opposition in waiting,” Gingrich said. “He may have to clean out the Justice Department because there are so many left-wingers there. State is even worse.” Gingrich said Trump might push for civil service revisions to make it easier to fire federal workers. He predicted that the public would back the president over federal employees. The signs of resistance in federal offices range from low-level grumbling and angry opposition posted online to anonymous promises of outright insubordination as new policies develop. But State Department employees are nervous enough now that the American Foreign Service Association on Tuesday sent out an advisory called “What You Need To Know When You Disagree With U.S. Policy.” The note spelled out employees’ legal protections but warned that “walking out in protest of a U.S. government policy, even just temporarily, would be considered a strike” and can result in being fired. The union representing scientists and other EPA employees is exploring the formation of a fundraising arm to “defend federal scientists we anticipate will be disciplined for speaking out or for defending scientific facts,” particularly about climate change, said Nicole Cantello, vice president of Local 704 of the American Federation of Government Employees, which represents EPA workers in the Chicago area. Career staff members in at least five departments said they are staying in close contact with Obama administration officials to get advice on how to handle Trump initiatives they consider illegal or improper. Former labor secretary Thomas Perez, who also headed the Justice Department’s civil rights division under Obama, said he has not been in contact with his former employees but is working to mobilize grass-roots opposition. ********************** can't wait for this battle to get serious Clean house, big time

TRUMP = Orwell's 1984 From CNN aka "Clinton News Network". And yes, I'm serious, this was JUST POSTED... How 1984 can decode Trumps first 100 days (CNN) Watching me read "1984," arguably the greatest dystopian novel ever written, in high school, my mother told me that it was a book that everyone should read not just once, but again, every 10 years. It certainly deserves a reread right now. Indeed, dozens of news stories this week have alerted us to surging sales of George Orwell's "1984" since the inauguration and even more so in the wake of Kellyanne Conway's now-infamous "alternative facts" gambit. Most media outlets have reported glibly on the figures, with some going so far as to compare the Amazon best-seller list (where purchases of "1984" have gone up nearly 10,000%) to a "political barometer" before making the obvious parallel between the Orwellian concepts of newspeak and doublethink and the words of Conway and actions of White House communications director Sean Spicer. Yet surprisingly, very few have neither unpacked the full measure of the parallels between Orwell's dystopia and the Trump administration, nor the import of the Trump administration's practices (so far) if left unchecked. As the protagonist of "1984," Winston Smith, was warned: "Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever." ... I believe we are treading into territories more treacherous than even Orwell himself contemplated. We now have a President and an administration in power that expects its own versions of reality and events to be created for it, à la carte, after the fact. ... One week into Trump's presidency, the parallels with "1984" are more than surface-level, and this portends an ominous future for the United States, regardless of your political persuasion. We among all the species are gifted with language, with thought, with the ability to freely express every singular emotion we experience with sincerity and honesty. We have today what Winston and Julia of Orwell's dystopia lost, fought so hard to reclaim, and failed to achieve: free speech. At once cautionary and foreboding, certain passages of "1984" eloquently remind us to hold onto the ideals of truth and equality, because simple truths that bind us are stronger than complex lies that divide us. "It was curious to think that the sky was the same for everybody, in Eurasia or Eastasia as well as here. And the people under the sky were also very much the same -- everywhere, all over the world, hundreds or thousands of millions of people just like this, people ignorant of one another's existence, held apart by walls of hatred and lies, and yet almost exactly the same -- a people who had never learned to think but were storing up in their hearts and bellies and muscles the power that would one day overturn the world." ---------------------------- "Voldemorte himself created his worst enemy, just as tyrants everywhere do! Have you any idea how much tyrants fear the people they oppress? All of them realize that, one day, amongst their many victims, there is sure to be one who rises against them and strikes back!" BREAKING: White House national security adviser Flynn says U.S. is officially putting Iran on notice after ballistic missile launch Reuters. President Donald Trump's national security adviser, Michael Flynn, said the United States was officially putting Iran on notice on Wednesday over its "destabilizing activity" after it test-fired a ballistic missile over the weekend. "As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice," Flynn told a White House briefing, without explaining exactly what that meant. Flynn said the ballistic missile launch on Sunday was in defiance of a U.N. Security Council resolution that called on Iran not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons. You wrote "(AP)(FT)" but I could not find the language you cite with or without "AP" in searches after several search attempts. Do you mean Associated Press? Am I missing something? Do you have a link to the quote? Who is being quoted? _______________________________ NRA Life Member NRA Certified Range Safety Officer

Too bad. I could have got some mileage out of that. Usually a quote references an actual speaker and a person repeating the quote. _______________________________ NRA Life Member NRA Certified Range Safety Officer

Partially? For one, they are not THAT stupid to come out and say it like that flat out. However, both Feinstein and Pelosi have made remarks that they are finding it hard to keep up with the "shock and awe". *************************** Knowing more by accident than on purpose.

Thanks. With all the crazy stuff that's coming out of Dem mouths, it was plausible. Pelosi's statements have been pretty nutty. You know, “if you breathe air, drink water, eat food, take medicine, or in any other way, interact with the courts, this is a very bad decision.” It's like she's huffing the bag that her industrial makeup arrived in. Why wouldn't a spokesman have ponied up with some equally bizarre statement. _______________________________ NRA Life Member NRA Certified Range Safety Officer

Trump is following rule 1 when at war - Keep the Initiative. Attack, Attack, Attack. As Patton said ' We're not defending anything. Let the other guy do that.' There are some other appropriate quotes there too. I'll need to refresh myself. I've only watched it 40+ times. That or, what Mickey said to Rocky; 'Go for the ribs. Don't let the sucker breathe.' I hope Trump is finally realizing that he is at war with the Bolshevik side here, finally. At some point these Bolshevik scumbags will all turn blue and wither away. Well, I can dream. Now - will the Repubs in the freaking Senate have the Chobham armored balls to actually go nuclear to get Trumps USSC nominee in? I'd call it 'Borking the Demo's, 31 years later.' -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.-. --.- It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master. Betsy DeVos is in trouble for Dept Education. Both Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski (REP senators) have announced they will not support her. Tehran on Tuesday warned Washington against fueling tensions. “We hope that Iran’s defense program is not used by the new US administration… as a pretext to create new tensions,” Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said. His comments came ahead of emergency consultations at the UN Security Council on the missile test convened at Washington’s request. US ambassador Nikki Haley told the meeting that the test-firing of the medium-range missile was “absolutely unacceptable.” “The United States is not naive. We are not going to stand by. You will see us call them out,” she said. http://www.timesofisrael.com/i...ach-of-nuclear-deal/ The row comes against a backdrop of already strained relations between Washington and Tehran over US President Donald Trump’s travel ban on citizens from Iran and six other Muslim-majority countries. Just posted on Trump's FB page: Statement by the National Security Advisor Recent Iranian actions, including a provocative ballistic missile launch and an attack against a Saudi naval vessel conducted by Iran-supported Houthi militants, underscore what should have been clear to the international community all along about Iran’s destabilizing behavior across the Middle East. The recent ballistic missile launch is also in defiance of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which calls upon Iran “not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology. These are just the latest of a series of incidents in the past six months in which Houthi forces that Iran has trained and armed have struck Emirati and Saudi vessels, and threatened U.S. and allied vessels transiting the Red Sea. In these and other similar activities, Iran continues to threaten U.S. friends and allies in the region. The Obama Administration failed to respond adequately to Tehran’s malign actions—including weapons transfers, support for terrorism, and other violations of international norms. The Trump Administration condemns such actions by Iran that undermine security, prosperity, and stability throughout and beyond the Middle East and place American lives at risk. President Trump has severely criticized the various agreements reached between Iran and the Obama Administration, as well as the United Nations – as being weak and ineffective. Instead of being thankful to the United States for these agreements, Iran is now feeling emboldened. As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice.

It sounds like they may need to drag their feet on Session's confirmation, make the VP earn his salary. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown
