This deserves a repeat. Veeper nailed it. We also had this discussion in the other thread. https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...35/m/7630097824/p/17 "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Sure. But we can correct everyone we run into in our own lives. Even the kids in the YouTube comments are starting to point out that the Nazis were socialists and not right-wing. The sooner we correct the (intentional or not) incorrect political label usage, the sooner we can have candid discussions. "Excuse me, but do you think that those religious people would like to use government to enact their morality?" "Do you think that those so called right wing folk would like to use the government to enact their eugenics?" "How can they be right wing if Libertarians are right-wing?" One step at a time. One discussion at a time. Just like pushing back at silly gun laws, decide to not allow the leftist to set the rules for the discussion by telling you what the rules are. EDIT - it also helps to stop falling for the 4, 6, or 8 quadrant political spectrum nonsense. Just ask, "Should I leverage the federal government to do this?" The answer is almost always, "NO." “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

I'm confused. Last week trump was a Russian stooge. This week he's a Nazi? Didn't the Russians and the Nazis hate each other with a vengeance? So what is it? What about how he suddenly became a RACIST!!! only after switching from being a Dem all his life to becoming a Republican and running for office?

Veeper, just for information: "populous" is an adjective--the word you wanted was the noun "populace". (For future reference) What you wrote was very appropriate regardless. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Missouri State Senator: ‘I Hope Trump Is Assassinated!’ A Missouri state senator said in a now-deleted Facebook post that she hopes President Donald Trump is assassinated. Maria Chappelle-Nadal acknowledged on Thursday that she wrote a post which read: “I hope Trump is assassinated!” She made the comment in an exchange with a left-wing activist who claimed that his cousin is a Secret Service agent. Chappelle-Nadal confirmed to a reporter with St. Louis TV station KMOX that she posted the comment. “I put something up on my personal Facebook page and it has now been deleted,” she said. Chappelle-Nadal, a Democrat, represents a district in a St. Louis suburb. It is not clear exactly what prompted Chappelle-Nadal’s comment. But it was likely made in response to a discussion about the ongoing controversy over Trump’s comments about the violence in Charlottesville, Va. over the weekend. http://dailycaller.com/2017/08...ump-is-assassinated/ Asked if she would apologize... She says she will apologize when Trump apologizes for his "bigoted" comments over the weekend. "Some things are apparent. She thinks the Democrats have thrown enough shit against the wall, that this might actually stick. As you have noted she was either brain dead about Confederate monuments, or this is what we all know it to be. Propaganda to incite the radicals. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." You, me boy, have hit the nail on the head. The far left's desire for a civil war has gone into overdrive since the election of President Trump.

Which is odd, given that there is zero chance they could win that war.

Veeper, There’s a lot of explainin’ required by your language proposal. I’m not sure it will catch on. Those wanting to understand things by left and right will probably keep with the common approach to understanding. Because our elections turn into a two person contest between a left candidate and a right candidate, people see left and right in those terms. Even after an election, citizens line up behind the winner/loser from the left or the winner/loser from the right based on who may deliver desired general policies. Does anyone really question who the KKK, Nazis, and White Nationalists line up behind after Republicans win? They tend to be get behind, from their point of view, who will give them the best policy environment of freedom – typically, the winner on the right. We can deny it but denying reality doesn’t change things. Antifa, BLM, and other violent groups line up behind the left side of the spectrum. To deny this is to try to remake reality as well. The question was whether the far left and the far right have some sort of moral equivalency. Now, people can demand 4 quadrants, 8 quadrants or 3 sea shells but I do not believe it gets to the point about moral equivalency. People know what is being asked and ducking the question by recasting the common understanding into a redefinition activity doesn’t get traction in the general public. It reminds me of how the Fundamentalists in the early 1900s published a series of articles about the “fundamentals” of the Christian faith. The articles turned into a shared doctrinal statement that over time turned into a slur about anyone who pugnaciously asserts faith. The Fundamentalists did not intend the meaning that has now emerged but the meaning is the common understanding despite them. I am familiar with the arguments about how the KKK and etc. are not on the right at all, but politically speaking, they support the right leaning candidates as opposed to left leaning candidates. In that sense, those groups are identified as being on the right. Maybe the far right leaning and far left leaning supporters wrap around a sphere such that they meet each other on the dark side. In any event, when violent people supporting the left side meet violent people supporting the right side, they do so in a realm of mace, clubs, lawlessness and injury. Does anyone seriously question whether the KKK, Nazis or White Nationalists give more support to the right than to the left? No. It has been that way in the modern era. Now, there is this issue of saying that the KKK and Nazis, for instance, are not entitled to be Americans or speak their nitwittery. Why is that? Every other brand of nitwittery is allowed to spew. Since we have no clear definition of the right or the left, trying to cast the KKK and the Naziesq ideologues out of the “Right” is amusing. The right can’t even define itself because it is such a loose term. So, it seems the most common understanding of whether someone is on the left or right has to do with Republicans versus Democrats now-a-days. The right can’t control who is allowed to be “Right” because it is really a matter of ideological conservatives trying to control an understanding that is not born of a membership card they issue. Instead, the general public has an understanding of who lines up behind which side of the ball based on a general life experience. I understand the desire to throw racists out of the “Right” but they are part of the “Left” too. There are just racists on each side of the common left/right practical divide and they tend to be seen as the far edges of what the left and right encompass. _______________________________ NRA Life Member NRA Certified Range Safety Officer

I read an article somewhere today that said all this fake news the last couple of days is not moving Trump's base. In fact, it hardening their support.
