The GOP congress critters may or may not be bedwetters, but I remain very pleased at the quality of Trump's major appointees.

DAG Rosenstein seems like a sterling fellow, and his appointment of Mueller as independent counsel may be a necessary evil to move ahead with the Russia bullshit.

I am avoiding talk radio, but as I was flipping through I heard Levin mention something interesting. Comey was legally obligated to report it to the DOJ if he felt it was obstruction of justice. If he felt it was and didn't report it then he's in trouble himself. Currently, there are no reports out there that he did, so we have to assume he felt it wasn't obstruction and therefor not an impeachable offense.

There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, but nothing is going to come of this. There is some sunshine for you all Wink

Good advice from Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit, law prof at U of Tennessee. Glenn has been solid throughout this insanity:

quote:
SO IF YOU’RE UNHAPPY WITH WHAT’S GOING ON, AND HOW THE MEDIA IS GOING AFTER TRUMP, WHAT DO YOU DO? You can push back against the media, of course. But otherwise the most useful thing for most folks is probably to pick a house race in a close district and work on it. If there’s a Dem majority in 2018, they’ll probably try to impeach Trump, which would be a disaster for the country no matter how it turns out. Helpfully, the Democrats at Swingleft.org have identified some close races. Even if you don’t live close to the district, you can make phone calls or donate.

I don't think there's much to worry about. In some ways it's freeing to have a special counsel. The White House can get back to focusing on the agenda.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Tongue in cheek? I don't see the media allowing the White House to focus on their agenda. I'd love to know how many times the word 'impeachment' was uttered on the various channels just today alone. I suspect tomorrow will be no different, perhaps even worse.

It has to be incredibly difficult to concentrate on an agenda when vast numbers of media members are constantly conflating having a special counsel with the need for impeachment proceedings to commence immediately.

I am most offended by the wasted effort and attention given to this current "crisis". What's next? And then after that? It will not end until we make it end.

The MSM, and Democrats and Republicans in office have forgotten why they are in Washington and who they serve. I'm beyond pissed off.

Leave the Administration to conduct the business of governing; elected politicians need to find their place and represent the interests of the people.

Trump always trolls and wins.
The dems and media do not have the goods.

He has the bomb to drop on them at the right time, just wait.

It's been like this since since January 21.

If nothing else, this last three months has shown beyond any doubt or ambiguity the utter hypocrisy and relentless bad faith wickedness of the God Damned Commies and their fellow travelers in the media.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

No not at all tongue in cheek.
The spokesman will be asked about it and will say " we can't comment on that " and change the subject to something more important than this Russia BS.

You don't remember Lawrence "Don Quixote" Walsh and his endless resurrection of the hopelessly dead Iran-Contra investigation.

"New evidence" will pop up in late October 2018 and again in late October 2020. This will go on like Michael Myers and the Friday the 13th sequels.

Do you mean "Michael Myers and the Halloween sequels" or "Jason Voorhees and the Friday The 13th sequels"? I think you got your slasher movies and villains a bit sideways there!

I've long stopped placing wagers on the potential downfall of Donald J Trump. People have been predicting that "this" would finally be the thing that takes Trump out of the game since before he was even a formal candidate; yet he overcomes every single time.

Had you placed the wagers on the other side, you'd be rich.

I haven't seen one drop of evidence that he's colluded, obstructed, or passed on classified into. Start coming up with evidence Dems, or STFU.

Bingo. When are these dipshits gonna start doing the job they were elected to do? This constant do nothing but obstruct is beyond old. Chuckles Schumer and the rest need to go ASAP.

I found the article Levin was referencing. This is the part I haven't seen may others in the media talking about...

quote:
Here is what we do know.

Under the law, Comey is required to immediately inform the Department of Justice of any attempt to obstruct justice by any person, even the President of the United States. Failure to do so would result in criminal charges against Comey. (18 USC 4 and 28 USC 1361) He would also, upon sufficient proof, lose his license to practice law.

So, if Comey believed Trump attempted to obstruct justice, did he comply with the law by reporting it to the DOJ? If not, it calls into question whether the events occurred as the Times reported it.

Obstruction requires what’s called “specific intent” to interfere with a criminal case. If Comey concluded, however, that Trump’s language was vague, ambiguous or elliptical, then he has no duty under the law to report it because it does not rise to the level of specific intent. Thus, no crime.

There is no evidence Comey ever alerted officials at the Justice Department, as he is duty-bound to do. Surely if he had, that incriminating information would have made its way to the public either by an indictment or, more likely, an investigation that could hardly be kept confidential in the intervening months.

Comey’s memo is being treated as a “smoking gun” only because the media and Democrats, likely prompted by Comey himself, are now peddling it that way.

Comey will soon testify before Congress about this and other matters. His memo will likely be produced pursuant to a subpoena. The words and the context will matter.

But by writing a memo, Comey has put himself in a box. If he now accuses the President of obstruction, he places himself in legal jeopardy for failing to promptly and properly report it. If he says it was merely an uncomfortable conversation, he clears the president of wrongdoing and sullies his own image as a guy who attempted to smear the man who fired him.

Either way, James Comey comes out a loser. No matter. The media will hail him a hero.

After all, he gave them a good story that was better than the truth.

That sounds good to me. I also like some of the ideas of others in this thread who have suggested expressing support of the president where comments can be made on the White House website.

I know that for my line of business, President Trump almost immediately through executive order got rid of some very troublesome regulations. He did more in the first week to help me out than any other president in my lifetime has.
I've expressed my support and approval at the site a number of times.

they have opened the door to special prosecutors

they may not like where this goes as the trail may lead to yet others that were unexpected

but yes, I think Mueller should investigate and if he can't find anything of substance, he could come right out and say so - kill this issue once and for all - but he is going to find democratic fingerprints when he starts looking and he should name those as well

if they want the truth, lets give them ALL the truth
