And do we really need 3 on 3 basketball?

I'm going to back off of my position on USA Olympic athletes. I was so pissed at the idiot women's soccer team that I projected that to the entire US team. Nope, a good majority of the US team loves and respects our country. Well maybe not so much the men's basket ball team, but we'll see how that all works out. They're a bit humbled at this point. So I guess my message is don't judge all on the actions of a few.

I think it's only a few attention whores that can't resist the temptation to make a scene. Most that I've been around consider it an honor to represent their country. One athlete that I definitely respect is US archer, Brady Ellison. I like what he had to say in this interview.

The brother and sister from Japan each winning the gold medal in men’s and women’s Judo was pretty neat to see.

I am a big Ledecky fan, she seems to be so full of what is good in the world. Same for Simone Biles.

then I read that the judges may be scoring Simone 'lower' for her more difficult moves because . . . equity? or something?

I would like someone to tell the Serena Williams to not hit a 100mph because the others cant do it.

Where's the purple hair and "alternate lifestyle"? I thought these things were required to "compete" these days. You have to be out of kilter with what has been considered normal for, oh, eons. You have to declare that you hate your country, hate its culture and that all its citizens are ignorant, racist xenophobes who must be re-educated or interned in a gulag. You have to use the attention you receive for your supposed athletic ability, to let everyone know that you're fighting for laws which allow people to marry their household appliances or various farm animals.

What's all this normalcy I see? Very confusing

I agree Para - and I for one have to admit that I was very turned off by the Olympic games this year. Then I actually put aside all the BS and started watching some of these fine men and women competing in shooting sports, combat sports, swimming (not synchro)and track & field - and I remembered why the Olympic Games still are a compelling spectacle to watch.

The Olympics is increasingly looking like the ESPN X Games. I suppose it's only a matter of time before e-sports are adopted. Anyone care to put down bets on how soon? Perhaps in time for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles?

NEWS FLASH - Naomi Osaka loses in straight sets and washes out of the 2020/2021 Olympics.
Now if the USWNT loses today and fails to make it out of group play, my Tokyo Olympics experience will be complete.
