I was going to say no. However I had forgotten all about women’s beach volleyball.

As far as the women's volleyball swimsuits, I'll offer my observations of female athletes I've been around lately that swimsuits are the uniform for the sport. I've spent a fair amount of time this summer water skiing with teenage girls that dive competitively and are competition water skiers. They spend hours each day in swimsuits, and one of the divers probably practices diving over 200 days a year.

They for the most part are as comfortable in swimsuits as anybody in jeans. They are used to being in front of crowds in all positions and don't care about any of it at all. They also don't usually do the self conscious unneeded adjusting of their suits. They do it when needed, but don't screw with them all the time. They just are comfortable wearing very little and it is nothing to them.

Since the volleyball players are older and have more years of experience at their sport, I'll assume it is even more insignificant to them.

Having been around normal girls and women who are much more body conscious and live in cold winter states that only seasonally wear swimsuits, this is a bit of a revelation. One of the girls I ski with has a pretty amazing and slender athletic build, and I don't think she's worn the same suit in the 20 plus times I've skied with her this summer. She went with me and a fairly conservative middle aged mother and when the young skier took off her sweatshirt, the combination of the fit body and minimal swimsuit caused the mother's jaw to drop. I'm used to it.

Well, if less is better, maybe they shouldn't wear anything at all.

Then again, there's the sand...

But I'd definitely watch it Big Grin

I've alwys wondered- I'm not complaining, you understand- but I've always wondered why women need the smallest, most-of-it-in-their-ass-crack shorts in order to play volleyball. Just curious, is all.

TV ratings. It makes it popular, it gets watched and bings money and sponsorships into their sport.

Agreed. Sex for money. Apparently wholesome voleyball is not allowed these days. They could look just as good with some stylish athletic clothing without their standard equipment flapping in the wind.

I'm in the process of moving, so I'm busy with that. Otherwise I'd be watching. It appeals to the better nature of competition, albeit with warts and all. Plus I'm always impressed by the dedication, motivation and skill it takes to participate at that level.

In the ancient Olympic games (the original, not this modern, PC, idiotic imitation with synchronized swimming and the like) how were the competitors chosen?

If I stumble across some of the shooting stuff while I'm channel surfing, I'll stop and watch it. Otherwise I have no interest in the Summer Olympics at all. Winter Olympics are a lot more interesting to me.

Rawney, I bet you are right.
So her achievement was likely due to coaching, personal dedication, aptitude and mindset.
I like that.

I attempted to watch the opening ceremony but was disgusted not only by the mask ‘theater’, but with how many times the word ‘covid’ and ‘pandemic’ were spoken.

If one were to turn it into a drinking game by taking a shot every time one of those words was spoken, an average person would have been unconscious in about 20 minutes.

The announcer’s seemed to take particular glee in going through the covid infection statistics of the teams from every country.

It was fucking putrid.
