The Leftist goal is to completely do away with the use of fossil fuels "to help the Environment". It is their religion and nothing is allowed to stand it its way. The total destruction of the US economy and cancellation of our basic rights is a consequence of no importance to them. They are insane narcissistic fanatics and evil.

By the way, I'm on my ship on the Delaware River right now, and 50% of the crude oil we are bringing into the area is from Russia.

That's got a few higher-ups in the offices around here a wee bit on edge, I'll just say.

Russia Threatens Finland, Sweden If They Move to Join NATO

Russian officials have now threatened ''serious military-political repercussions'' for Finland and Sweden if they make a move to join NATO.

The remarks came at a briefing on Friday from Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

''Finland and Sweden should not base their security on damaging the security of other countries, and their accession to NATO can have detrimental consequences and face some military and political consequences,'' she said in a translated video clip shared on Twitter.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Russia also tweeted Zakharova's threat.

''We regard the Finnish government's commitment to a military non-alignment policy as an important factor in ensuring security and stability in northern Europe,'' the tweet, posted just before noon Eastern time, read.

''Finland's accession to @NATO would have serious military and political repercussions.''

Russia had asserted that Ukraine's desire to join NATO was a pretext for building forces on the Ukraine border months before Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to engage a ''special military operation'' — which NATO alliance members consider a ''full-scale invasion'' of the sovereign nation of Ukraine.

Ukraine voted for its independence when the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991.

''This goes far beyond Ukraine,'' NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Friday of Russia's invasion. ''This is about how Russia is actually challenging, contesting core values for our security. Then warning that NATO should withdraw all forces and infrastructure from almost half of our members.

''If [Putin] did move into NATO countries, we will be involved. We will be involved.''

Long term, buying oil elsewhere currently and keeping our domestic reserves intact might not be a bad idea.

But we have over 300 years of oil at our current usage rate?

Perhaps more. People have never realized the patroleum is just a liquid mineral (sorta - I understand organic chemistry).

Natural gas still gets flared off in Texas as times. It would be just as well to liquefy it and ship it across the Atlantic.

Six-in-10 Democrats: Defending Ukraine border tops US border

The polling outfit also asked likely voters about the importance of defending Ukraine against Russia’s border-crossing to defending the surge of illegal immigrants over the U.S. border.

Not surprisingly, a majority, 53%, chose “defending the U.S. border.”

But when the parties were broken out, Rasmussen found a huge divide between Democrats and Republicans. While 74% of Republicans and 54% of independents said protecting the U.S. border was more important, 57% of Democrats chose Ukraine’s border over the U.S. border.

What’s more, 67% of self-described “liberals” chose Ukraine.

Reminds me of Enemy at the Gate. "The one with the rile shoots!, When the one with the rifle gets killed, the one who follows picks up the rifle and shoots".

God please help these poor people.

Now THAT was a terrible scene! Having machine guns aimed at them in front and behind and the only way you get to fight is if you don’t get hit and can pick up a rifle. What a desperate fight that scene depicted.

Being a Cold War Veteran (I’m aware with some that is a controversial status), this whole business angers me. To think of how hard many fought and died to push back that iron curtain only to see it squandered now by weakness in our government. Not that we will necessarily see nuclear war but I remembered being trained how to react in nuclear blasts. What a joke that was to lay face down in a line. I guess the big question now is whether Putin will stop there and install puppet leaders or continue and redraw the iron curtain.

Guardian has some of the best battle coverage. In addition to this clip, there is one of a tank swerving to run over a civilian car etc.

Watching the interviews of Ukraine people preparing to fight.

You have 4 choices.

1. Flee and live with that decision.

2. Surrender and hope to live with that decision.

3. Hide and hope you live long enough for #1 or #2.

4. Fight, maybe you die, maybe you prevail, but at least you got the decision part out of the way.

These people have guts and resolve. I hope they can prevail.

Liberals/Biden supporters showing concern and support for the Ukrainians is about as genuine as the Rock Against Drugs program from the 80s.

The ironic thing that these enviro-wack jobs don't understand about their Green New Deal War is that if this thing goes to the extreme, nuclear weapons will cause a hell of a lot more damage to the environment than cow farts.

Ukrainian woman offers seeds to Russian soldiers so 'sunflowers grow when they die' – video

Fri 25 Feb 2022 11.30 EST

A woman is being hailed on social media after she confronted a heavily armed Russian soldier and offered him sunflower seeds – so that flowers would grow if he died there on Ukraine’s soil. 'You’re occupants, you’re fascists,' she shouts, standing about a metre from the soldier.

'Take these seeds and put them in your pockets so at least sunflowers will grow when you all lie down here'.
