The longest was a 2007 Ford Expedition which I owned for a little over ten years. I have a 2012 Ducati that I purchased in 2011, and a 2012 BMW that I still own. The BMW just hit 34k miles and the Ducati has roughly 3k miles. I will not be getting rid of either of those vehicles anytime in the near future.

What did you buy? I had hell with my new profilers, first i had to go shaft to get the rocker geometry correct then i had to helicoil every intake bolt hole because none of them would even hold 10ft lbs with studs. The heat treat guy must have been having a bad day.

I bought the profilers also. Eek geomerty should not be a problem for me I've learned to use adjustable guild plates over the years on SBC with aftermarkets heads before getting the correct pushrod length. But I'm a little worried about the intake bolt issue. Thanks for the info. I may try and bottom tap the bolt holes see if I can get a longer bolt in there.

Those shaft mounted rocker arms on your build looks like a very good set up. That engine you got there should make some power from the looks of it. Smile

We had a Honda that was, I think, 12 years old when it finally died. It was a solid car and just kept running. I was hoping it would go to 250K miles, but it died at about 220K.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

94 Volvo 850 non turbo; 22 years zero engine/running gear issues;

the short-hop wifey rig for her 4 mile commute.

Issues: windshield wiper repairs multiple times; driver door hinge rust fail; irredeemable squeeky dash after resection to replace burnt out bulbs; multiple seat heater fails;

After the Mercedes 300 SE Turbo-diesel the Volvo felt lithe & nimble; could run per spec for a couple years for what 1 MB service/oil change cost.

1977 BMW R75/7. Bought used in late '79 with 2500 miles on the ODO. Sold 8 years ago with over 100,000 miles on the ODO.

I traveled each east coast state, thru the mid west and into Canada on that bike. Never let me down. Just regular maintenance each 5K miles and a rebuilt transmission, plus dual plug the cylinder heads for RUG.

It's up in Oregon now and still ridden on the road.

I have a 1985 Monte Carlo SS purchased new in October 1984. Currently it sits in my garage with 240,000+ miles on the clock with it's third engine (345 HP GMPP HT383), third transmission, and a paint job done in 1999. BTW, re-did the powertrain in 1999 and made some mistakes with the second engine (fuelie heads with hardened valve seat inserts were a bad idea) and Art Carr transmissions aren't a great choice for longevity. The original 305 and 200-R4 lasted for 192,000 miles when I got the itch for More Power, so I won't knock GM's longevity. It's why it now has a GM engine and a Buick GN spec 200-R4. BTW, 345 HP is plenty for a 3400 lbs Monte Carlo and it's got a heck of a "passing gear". Just have to watch out when using that passing power because it will go from 60 to 100 in a few seconds and cops get orgasmic about writing up someone doing the "ton".

I've stopped counting.

I had a 67 Mustang with 289/C4 for 35 years.

My family had two Chrysler 300B cars for over 30 years. And Dad had his 1940 Continental for 30 some years. Dad won the Western Region best prewar Continental prize one year from Ford Motor Company. FoMoCo.

And finally the family 1951 Willys Jeep was in the family from new to about 2003.

One of those 300B cars had been a rum runner car. There were extra leaves in the rear springs. One heck of a radical cam. A hidden switch to blackout the rear running lights. And a solenoid operated trapdoor nail drop in the trunk. The nails were still in it all the years.

Ordered my F-150 4x4 in January 1991 and received it in April. It only has 126k miles since it used to sit around during deployments and airline trips. Now I drive it 14 miles round trip every day to work since it has the best A/C of any of my vehicles.

We had a 1973 Plymouth Fury III in my family from the day it was new on the lot until June 22, 2013.
My paternal grandmother bought it new, my dad bought it from her, then my sister and I both drove it in HS. Everyone knew her as “Big Iron” and a direct decendant of Christine.
I overhauled the engine when I got back from college and drove Big Iron for a bit when I first got married.
She was relegated to “backup” status for years til I finally sold the engine and tranny.
Big Iron’s last hurrah was as a ballistics test subject.
You were pretty safe from pistol fire in her, but you didn’t stand a chance from rifle fire.
Big Iron finally shared the same fate as her ancestor, crushed out at a local salvage yard.

6.5 years. That’s the current car. Hoping to keep it at least ten but I’ll get rid of it when it starts costing me too much to keep it. Prior “record” was five years.

I had a Honda Civic for 10 years and 390,000 miles of daily commuting. When I sold it, it still had the original clutch
I currently own a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. It has about 198,000 miles. It still runs good but the AC went our a couple of years ago. It's now my beater car and the dogs like it just fine.

My 2006 Nissan Sentra just passed 12 years last month. Only car I've owned, bought new in 2006 when I was 19. Been wanting a new car for years, but this thing has been very reliable and still runs just fine. I'm at just over 152k miles. Even if/when I buy a new car, I might just keep the Senta as an extra car, and depending on the mpg on the new car, commute in it once or twice a week.

Pretty crazy how long some people have owned cars here! Seems most people get into a newer car every few years. Guess I'm like my dad, he drives a '97 4Runner. Probably would still be in his '87 4Runner if it wasn't totaled by a red light runner.
