My cars last around 5 to 10 years but my dad owned his 87 Ford F-150 from about 1989 until he died in 2016 (27 years). From there it went to the junk yard.

I'm interested to see how long people have kept their vehicles, especially if they are classics.

I generally trade my daily drivers every 4 years, but my pickup that I use for occasional errands and plowing (home) is an exception. I've had it for 17 years and it has 24,000 miles. That one isn't going anywhere until it dies.

We've had our Honda Odyssey for 11 years now. My parents had a '83 Ford Econoline van that was driven for over 400,000 miles. It finally died somewhere in the early 2000s.

You've got me by a year... 1999 Chevy Tahoe. Still have it. The old beast doesn't get driven a lot these days but I have no reason to get rid of it. I can throw a deer in the back (on the rubber mat). I can throw a canoe on top. I haul versa-lok for a retaining wall. It's just not a daily driver anymore.

As automobile technology continues to improve... we are getting more miles out of our vehicles, and they are lasting longer.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I had an 01 Sport Trac with 296K before I killed the tranny. Bought it new and kept until 2014. 10 years is what I average before I kill them off. This one would have had the motor/tranny replaced and still on the road it was so well kept, but we had 4 years of really bad winters and it was a 4x2. When it died, I bought a 2014 Ram 4x4 and we have had less than 1" of snow accumulation over the last 4 years Roll Eyes
