According to the scrolling headlines; the Pentagon is saying "a number" of US personnel were lost. May be more than the four Marines KIA, three wounded.

This is what happens when operations like this are run by the State Dept.
I have pretty much hated the politicians in the State Dept. since I was in the service in the 80's, not much has changed... sigh...

This should have been a MILITARY operation, but NOOOO, Dumbass Joe decided that our secretary of state was the man for the job, and pulled out the military first.

Airbnb giving temporary housing to Afghan refugees worldwide

Airbnb will provide free housing to Afghan refugees across the world who are fleeing the Taliban takeover of their country, the company announced Tuesday.

Airbnb and Airbnb.org, the group’s nonprofit, will give 20,000 Afghan refugees temporary housing, although it is not clear how long the free housing will last.

The program is through Airbnb.org, which receives money from Airbnb, CEO and co-founder of the company Brian Chesky and donors to the nonprofit’s refugee fund, the company said.

“As tens of thousands of Afghan refugees resettle around the world, where they stay will be the first chapter in their new lives. For these 20,000 refugees, my hope is that the Airbnb community will provide them with not only a safe place to rest and start over, but also a warm welcome home,” Chesky said.

The statement calls on other global businesses to join in efforts to help support Afghan refugees who have been uprooted from their homes as they fled the country to escape the rule of the Taliban.

Multiple countries have taken in Afghan refugees, and President Biden said the U.S. will take in refugees after they have been thoroughly vetted.

Along with the temporary housing, the nonprofit said it has given money to “the International Rescue Committee (IRC), HIAS and Church World Service to provide immediate temporary stays via the Airbnb platform for up to 1,000 arriving Afghan refugees.”

The company also says around 25,000 refugees, with some part of the U.S. Special Immigrant Visa Program, have been provided temporary housing by Airbnb in the past four years.

There will be thousands of Afghan refugees in need of a place to stay as the U.S. and its allies have been committed to evacuating Afghan individuals who helped the countries during the 20-year war in Afghanistan.

This is what I noted a page or two ago that I feared most right now. All the US troops at the Kabul airport are hung out to dry right now given current circumstances. I have 'zero' trust that Austin, Milley, and all the rest of the senior brass has any F-ing clue what they're doing right now, and how to successfully get that military group out of that airport. And that doesn't even scratch the surface on the issue of all the remaining Americans in A-stan. God I pray the next two days don't evolve into something like Custer at Little Big Horn.

Dozens of service members have been wounded in the explosion as well, the officials added.

these are the first American combat casualties in Afghanistan since February 2020

We will be in combat operations in Afghanistan for years to come.

Getting rid of Biden accomplishes nothing. He isn't making a single decision on his own. The issue is the entire administration and all the outside $ flowing into Washington.

Apparently a looming pull-out deadline, and the suicide attacks resulting in the deaths of U.S. troops isn't enough of a reason for Congress to suspend or delay their vacation plans...I mean it's not like they need to consult with the President and his administration during a deteriorating tragic debacle to provide oversight over a cascading series of failures, offer emergency appropriations, or to assist with decision making during the evacuation...or even just to issue some words of support.

Nancy Pelosi, House Ditch Town As Joe Biden’s Afghanistan Crisis Worsens

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the U.S. House of Representatives are skipping town as Joe Biden’s Afghanistan crisis is worsening by the day.

“There is an ongoing and high threat of terrorist attack. Do not travel to Kabul Hamid Karzai International Airport. If you are in the area of the airport, move away to a safe location,” the United Kingdom’s government told citizens there, Fox News reported.

“Because of security threats outside the gates of Kabul airport, we are advising U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to do so,” the U.S. Embassy in Kabul said to Americans.

Fox News added:

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy tore into Pelosi for refusing to “focus” on the crisis.

McCarthy continued: “What do you think those Americans were doing late at night, trying to find a path to get to that airport?… Not one moment was spent on – not one dollar was passed this time in Congress. Five trillion just deemed not debated, none of that money going to help an American get back.”

“The president told us that the Taliban would let you go to the airport. The Taliban is now shutting it down. We watched that people aren’t being beaten – but that’s the report that we’re getting,” McCarthy said.

“Why wouldn’t we spend time on that in Congress? Why are we departing now? The speaker has control over that,” he added.

The United Kingdom’s Houses of Parliament officially voted to hold Joe Biden in contempt over his disastrous handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Senate Democrats are planning to investigate the Biden administration’s “flawed” American withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The Senate Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committees — both chaired by Democrats — are planning to investigate the catastrophic withdrawal.

Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott suggested using the 25th Amendment to remove Biden from the presidency.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has slammed Biden for his handling of the withdrawal of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, which have descended into chaos over the weekend as Taliban forces seized much of the country.

McCarthy is now calling for investigations into Biden’s handling of the crisis.

Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she is drafting Articles of Impeachment against Biden as the debacle on his Afghanistan withdrawal of troops continues.

Kamala Harris is also reportedly refusing to accept any responsibility.

A source reportedly said that Harris refused to be part of addressing the American people after the terrorist group took over Kubal, the capital of Afghanistan.

A source said Harris screamed: “They will not pin this sh*t on me!”

We should have never given up Bagram Air Base. It should have been the last place we left from. Get people out of both there and Kabul airport as long as possible, but once Kabul was no longer viable, keep it going at Bagram. It was fortified, secure, and could have easily accommodated enough aircraft to provide security and evacuations to the airbase. Whoever decided to abandon that base should be number one on the list.

Fox now reporting 11 Marines, 1 Navy corpsman killed; no numbers on wounded.
